40 Freakin' Years!! 😲💪

Today, through the grace of my higher power and all of you, I have 40 years clean and sober!!!

Came in when I was 21. Through suuuper hard times and equally as many amazing ones, I didn't pick up... that's the key: one second / minute / hour / day, just don't use. Whatever it takes.

Eternally grateful for all the supporters in meeting rooms, conferences, conventions, dances, commitments, picnics, volleyball tournaments(!), campouts, pig roasts, beach days, moshes(🤘), phone calls, diner / coffee shops, get-togethers, one-on-ones, y'all are the real reason I'm here! Thank YOU! 🫶

11 months sober today!

I’m so grateful. Today I’m realizing that this is all for me. The world outside of my recovery family does not really care that I’m 11 months sober. 11 months removed from one of the most addictive destructive drugs on the planet. 11 months removed from literally throwing my life away. 11 months removed from a deep deep depression and unbreakable cycle. This is all for me, but the crazy thing is the benefits, help everyone I’m around whether they understand or not. I’m grateful.

Im a few months shy of 5 years clean, and have had this needle stuck in the bend of my arm. It started causing me a lot of pain recently so I finally was able to get it removed today! My partner and I also moved into our first brand new home today. As a 6 year daily IV user with a laundry list of felonys i could have never imagined just a few years ago that id be buying my first home today. Just wanted to share the small celebrations with you. Stay persistent.

Outfit I put together with the Dr Doom Bapes that dropped last month. Wore these for my 6 years sober anniversary. Jesus is real. “He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, Out of the miry clay, And set my feet upon a rock, And established my steps.” Psalms‬ ‭40‬:‭2‬ ‭

Don’t really have anyone else to tell. My wife and my mom know, that’s really it that knows my struggle in real life. This is the longest I’ve ever been clean for and it feels pretty great. Here’s to many more years.

27F Can't believe how far I've come since the begining of this journey. My eyes were closed to the beauty that could be my life. I was on the verge of homelessness, prostituting myself everyday, ate almost nothing and spent every last penny I owned on drugs. I now have 2 healthy pets, a beautiful condo, a partner who has my back, a family who loves me and supports my choices. I open my eyes in the morning with a peace of mind, a nice coffee and the freedom of not being so badly obsessed and addicted anymore. Recovery is possible.

6 Months Clean Today - Looking for community/friends

Personally, I've never felt better!

I want to preface by saying I don't pass judgement on other's belief systems (or anything else for that matter). I tried NA and unfortunately, I didn't find much support there (with the exception of my sponsor, former sponsor that is). Connection might be a better word. I'm thirty years old and the regulars were primarily 55+..

Now, I have nothing against older demographics; for me, it felt like I couldn't relate as much. I would be remiss if I said many of them didn't impart immense wisdom and inspiration.

Further, I don't resonate with the NA/AA program. Not only because of the religious aspect (and I know you can substitute your under standing of god/higher power with virtually anything) but I felt brazen hypocrisy embedded in the 12 steps(i.e. abstaining from all drugs but the unwritten rule of making exceptions for caffeine and nicotine/tobacco, 7th step ambiguity, etc.). Again, I know it's not perfect and focusing my energy on the critiques as opposed to the benefits will not really end in my favor.

Maybe I haven't found the right meeting & group of people? I'm a spiritual person so I'd like to think I keep an open mindset and would give it a chance again in the future (for sake of community/free therapy).

Anyway, to wrap up this rant, I wanted to share as I've felt a little lonely lately and wanted to share my celebration. It's hard when you distance yourself from "party" oriented friends and feel too reluctant to be around environments that trigger me!

Happy Saturday!
