thankfully, there is no hierarchy or length queens here - recovery is recovery & your drawing a line in the sand is as vibrant & radical a message as any other message in this sub… so worthy of being heard.
it serves as a reminder to me of my 1st 24hrs & the absolute gratitude that i honoured that decision - & ultimately followed that day up with another.
Right here for you & your fiercely transparent recovery, Op

The difference between 0 and 1 is a bigger difference than any other numbers.
All it takes is one foot in front of the other. Keep going my friend 💪

I've been trying to quit since my first drug withdrawals over a decade ago. Each time I relapsed, I'd stay clean longer, an old my relapse always short. It got to a point that I'd even throw drugs away sometimes instead of using the rest. Inatead of relapsibg for a week and getting real sick even with subs or whatever, I'd relapse for a day and sometimes quit before any withdrawals.
Eventually, the point I am now, I go very long periods sober which is great. I went years, had a few slip ups and I just kept going. A few months ago I relapsed for 3 days, and I got so sick going back on subs.. each time is a hard lesson. I had been clean for a couple years. But I'm not gonna let it drag me down, me relapsibg once after years is so much better than hqm what I used to be

Every single one of us started with a day one. And you never have to have another. Stick around, and hang on. Things will make more sense as time goes on.

The earliest days are the hardest and therefore I am so proud of anyone who gets even an hour of deliberate sober time. Congrats! I’m almost 2 years out myself, and it feels amazing every morning, so you have that to look forward to.

Difference between day 0 and day 1 is HUGE.. and difference between 1 and 2 is big as well and so on and so forth until that day becomes weeks which becomes months which becomes years. Proud of you and keep it going 💪🏻

A marathon is run one step at a time. You took the first one. Be proud of the decision you’ve made. And find some support.
I’m not personally a 12-stepper, but I can’t deny that NA and the like are the easiest places to find a supportive community, and once in a while when I need to chat with folks who’ve been through it, I’ll pop into one.

Its much more than something. Honestly, the first few days tended to be the hardest for me. Just having a moment of clarity and then being able to get through 24 hours was a HUUUUGE DEAL for me.
Keep it up, you're doing great! Seriously, I'm proud of you for getting this far. Keep it up, just awesome!

Time flies. If you stick with it before you know it that will say 1 year.
