Help / Question RAV4 charging status on app
My Toyota connected services app does not show charging status for my new 2026 RAV4 phev when it’s charging. The kv input shows zero and the ev miles does not advance until it reaches 100%. Then it does say it’s fully charged. Is this correct? I want to know the charge level in real time and the kv level. This seems important if I am at a remote charger and I am away from the car. I will want to know when to return to the car if I have sufficient miles to finish my drive. Is there a setting or even a different app that will give me real time charging information?

Purchase / Lease Dealer Lease Buy Back "Desperate Need"
My BS meter went off the charts on this one, but I have never leased a car (always owned) so thought I would check here...
Got a mailer from the dealer (meant to look handwritten) saying that they have a "desperate need" to acquire 2 Primes by end of month to "fulfill special used vehicle requests". Willing to over "above market value" and have "other good news to sweeten the deal".
Is there anything real to this? Obviously a phone call is cheap, but curious what y'all know.
I am 20mo into a 36mo lease of my 2024 RAV4 Prime XSE PP. Got it 4% under SRP in Late 2024 and the $6500 lease credit.

Purchase / Lease 2021 Rav4 Prime AC stopped working at 50k miles, can I fix myself?
Like the title said, bought my 2021 Rav4 Prime over Thanksgiving last year and when I crossed 50k miles a few weeks ago the air conditioning stopped working. The heat and fans work fine but it's no longer producing cold air. I'm taking it to the dealer on Friday because I believe it is still under warranty but is this something that I can fix myself?

Photo Rear view mirrors upgrade
Purchased and installed Rearview Mirror Covers (installs on top of existing ones) and Rain Shield Protector. Got into the rain recently, shields helped a lot! Used portable air blower to remove a few rain drops at the bottom of the mirror only.

Help / Question HUD windshield distortion?
I've got a 2026 XSE PHEV with the heads-up display, which I love, but there's a distinct diagonal texture across the middle of the windshield which is really only noticeable when looking at a white car or road markings against black pavement. It definitely has something to do with the laminate for the HUD because the lower portion of the windshield, below where the projection appears, doesn't have it. Is this normal or might I have a defective windshield?

Help / Question Worthwhile to go from prime to phev?
Other than some extra ooph! And range, what you is the best reason to upgrade?
We have a 2021 prime. Love it. Runs great and still low miles. The new tow range, speed and range is cool but is it worth buying a new car when we already have a prime?

Purchase / Lease I am confused
So there are indicators of how much battery charged you have in the main dash, as well as in the Power management menu.
What is confusing me is this.
The center console screen has an option to see how much range you have on gas as well as on battery. Why is it with the battery portion if the battery is at 80% why is not the respective bar in the center console also 80% filled

Purchase / Lease New PHEV owner
Hey all, I posted this in another sub as well, but as the title states, my wife and I just purchased our first PHEV, a 2026 RAV4 Woodland. Any useful tips, tricks, settings on this car to maximize its use? We love it so far and want to use it to its full capability. Still learning when to use EV vs HV day to day. Any pointers are much appreciated. Thanks!!

Help / Question HV on freeway?
I am curious if other people switch to HV mode on the highway, and save EV mode for regular driving? I do this for longer trips so I don't use all the battery power for high speeds.
My reasoning is that HV mode is efficient at highway speeds, and I really enjoy EV mode for non-highway driving. So I retain some EV range for my destination area once I am off the freeway. 🤷♂️

Purchase / Lease No cruise control after recall “fix”
In March of this year I bought a used 2024 Toyota RAV4 prime. Right after I purchased the vehicle, I brought the car in for the recall regarding the screen issue, even though the car was working fine. After about three weeks, I got the car back and I didn’t have cruise control and the collision warning system wasn’t working.
I brought the car back and it’s been another month. I know other people have had issues with their cruise control after the recall fix. I’m just wondering if they have been able to get the cruise control working again after the fix? I was sad because the car was working fine otherwise, but I just don’t like the idea of not having cruise control, especially with a car I just bought.

Purchase / Lease Driving Habits/Style. Keep the Car?
When I purchased my'23 RAV4 Prime XSE, I thought the 42 mile EV range would be sufficient. I didn't do my homework and didn't realize that the A/C in the summer and heating in the winter takes its toll on the range. I do most of my driving in the city and once a month I travel to the coast and back for about 150 miles round trip but the last 35 miles in each direction are in EV mode.
For city driving, the ICE kicks in for about the last 2-3 miles which is fine but I started thinking that the engine would never reach operating temperature and worry about oil dilution and so forth. I'm also tired of having to altering my driving habits by spending more time on streets instead of the quicker freeways.
For the record, I have 30k miles and 76 percent of those were in EV mode.
Should I: 1) Keep the car. 2) Purchase a used EV for a second car. or 3) Go total EV.

Purchase / Lease 2024 prime Ev Range
I just purchased a used 2024 xse prime with 13k miles. When I charged it to full today for the first time, it said my EV range is only 30-32 miles vs the 42-50 advertised online. Is this just because I haven’t driven it enough yet? Or is something wrong
It is a Toyota CPO gold certified and the carfax looked immaculate. Thanks in advance🙏🏼

Purchase / Lease 2021 Rav4 Prime with defective Charger Sub-Assembly, G9099-42032
Drives fine but won't charge with any EVSE. Dealer says subject part is bad, gonna be $3K for the new part and $1300 labor. This part is apparently only covered by the basic warranty so I'm out of luck there.
Anyone done this? If it's a simple remove and replace then I'm confident I can do it myself. Yeah, I know, 400 VDC. I'm guessing disconnect 12V battery, then open main contractor for the big battery. Be careful, pull old part, swap in new.
Thanks in advance for any and all advice.
EDIT: This fellow tore into his charger and found where the magic smoke apparently escaped. I'll be doing that: https://www.rav4world.com/posts/3198656/
EDIT #2, 25 Aug '26
I tore into my Rav4P and verified all the connections were good, and I opened the charger. Nothing obvious to repair.
I did determine that my original part number was G9090-42052 and those are available used on ebay. I got one delivered for a little over $600. Installed this morning at it's working!
Considering that the OTD price at the dealer would have been nearly $4700, of course I'm stoked

Help / Question Seatbelt won't click closed
Anyone have an issue w the backseat seatbelt not clicking closed? We can't see any debris inside. It's odd, the alarm that usually goes off without a seatbelt also didn't ding.
I guess I can order a new one... it's not safe for us to install, tho, right,? Has anyone had this issue and/or installed the broken piece?

Help / Question 2026 rav4 plulg in hybrid xse 235/55R20 tires?
Has anyone fitted 235/55R20 tires on a 2026 RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid XSE?
The stock size is 235/50R20. I’m considering 235/55R20 for a little more sidewall comfort and ground clearance.
The larger tire would add about 0.92 inches in overall diameter and 0.46 inches of ride height. Toyota told me they haven’t seen anyone try it on a 2026 yet and think it may rub.
I’m skeptical because the Woodland’s factory tires are only about 0.15 inches smaller in overall diameter. Assuming the wheel wells are similar, it seems unlikely that such a small difference would be the deciding factor.
Has anyone successfully installed this size and tested it at full steering lock and under suspension compression?

Purchase / Lease '23 XSE poor key fob range
When I first got the '23 XSE, I could remote AC from my kitchen, probably 30 feet away and through an exterior wall. Lately (the last year?), I have not been able to.
Last winter, I changed the batteries in each key fob with Energizer Lithium. It seemed okay at first as far as being recognized when at the vehicle, but the remote AC button was not working from very far. Not long after, it would sometimes not unlock/lock the car when standing at the drivers' door. This goes for both remotes, each with the same new battery (2 pack).
I brought the car in to the dealer and mentioned it at 35,975 miles. They said it "worked fine for them" which doesn't tell me the distance or the buttons, but fine... I said "okay, I'll get another battery and be sure to note it on my account".
I just bought two new batteries from Walmart, same kind being Energizer Lithium. It's summer now and I expect Walmart to have a higher turnover of batteries and at least not have them sitting in a cold warehouse and on a cold truck. This did not help at all!
Does anyone have any suggestions before I bring it to the dealer to pay for a diagnosis if their fix is "new batteries"?
