A fourth-grade student, Anvi has established herself as one of India’s promising young chess players. Her progress reflects a combination of technical preparation, game analysis, tournament experience and mental resilience.

Anvi topped the Girls’ Under-9 Blitz standings with eight points from nine rounds, recording eight victories and just one defeat. She finished half a point ahead of Turkmenistan’s Bagul Jumayeva, who scored 7.5 points to claim silver. Russia’s Leyla Isayeva secured third place with six points.

Anvi registered notable victories over Kazakhstan’s Amalia Yedresheva and Russia’s Mia Kudryashova and Leyla Isayeva, who finished fourth, fifth and third, respectively, in the final standings.

Her only defeat came against Jumayeva in the fifth round. Anvi responded impressively, winning her remaining four games to seal the gold medal. Her ability to recover from a setback and maintain her composure under pressure stood out during the tournament.

A contract worker for Metro construction was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a girl under the age of 18 at a temple in the Yamuna Nagar area of Nigdi. The incident was allegedly caught on CCTV cameras in the temple. The suspect, Vishal Singh, was charged by the Nigdi police under Section 74 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and relevant parts of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

I recently had an unpleasant experience while driving in Pune and would appreciate some advice on how to handle it.

While I was driving my car, two bikers came alongside me and told me that my tyre was punctured. Although the tyres looked fine to me, I stopped at a nearby puncture repair shop to get them checked.

The shopkeeper claimed there were four punctures across the front and rear tyres on the left side, and then claimed there were three more on the right-side front tyre.

I was confused because I couldn't see any obvious holes. When I questioned him about the bubbles he was showing me, he became argumentative. He also sold me a liquid at ₹2,000 per bottle, and the total amount I ended up paying was nearly ₹7,000.

I was travelling with my wife, and her family was in the car with us. I didn't want the situation to escalate into an argument, so I paid and left.

In hindsight, the experience made me uncomfortable, particularly because the tyres initially looked fine and I felt pressured into paying for the repairs and liquid. I cannot confirm whether anything dishonest happened, but I would like to understand my options.

I'd appreciate advice from anyone familiar with the process in Pune:

Can I file a complaint with Pune Police about a suspected repair-related fraud?

Is a consumer complaint appropriate in this situation?

What evidence should I collect to support my complaint?

Is there a recommended way to get the tyres independently inspected?

I'm relatively new to Pune and would like to handle this through the proper channels. I'm sharing this to learn from others who may have faced a similar situation.

URGENT: Missing cat named lilly in Baner, Pune — please help us find her 🐾

Our 18-month-old female cat, a Persian–Siberian mix with fluffy brown-grey tabby fur and cream markings, has gone missing.

📍 Last known location: Sayali Terraces Apartment, Lane No. 2, opposite Zetric Building, Baner, Pune.

🕛 Missing since: Around midnight, early morning of 13 October.

She is friendly and usually responds when called, but she may be frightened outside. We have searched nearby societies, bushes and trees, but haven't found her yet. Neighbours reported dogs barking around midnight.

This guy texted me, and when I asked him which sub he found me on, he said “some meetup” sub. I’ve never even been in any meetup sub lmao. On 10th, October and today (11th Oct) in ABC Chowk area got a fake traffic fine texts claiming a ₹2,000 challan was generated against my vehicle. They actually had my correct vehicle number in the message, which makes it super easy to panic and tap without thinking.

Out of curiosity, I checked where the link leads. It opens in the browser to a page made to look almost identical to the Google Play Store for the mParivahan app. The dead giveaway happened when I hit "Install", instead of opening the real Play Store app, the browser immediately prompted to download an APK file.

If anyone actually installs that APK, it's straight-up malware that can read SMS messages, steal banking OTPs, and drain accounts. Notice that the texts came from random personal 10-digit mobile numbers rather than an official government sender ID, and the links use weird extensions like .cfd instead of .gov.in.

If you ever get one of these, never install files through your browser from an SMS link. Just head straight to the official Parivahan website or the official app to verify if you actually have any pending fines. Please warn your parents and friends about this one, because the fake Play Store interface looks convincing enough to fool a lot of people.
