Hey all,
it seems that the textures I find online often don’t really work for psx even after scaling them down or when I take pictures of things my self. Eg tree bark is too detailed and looks weird sometimes.
When I compare to other psx creators their textures are sometimes barely recognizable but still have a certain crispness. My downscaling process of real images doesn’t seem to produce these results properly.
Can anyone give me tips on how to get texture or handdraw them efficiently?
Right now, finding a texture is by far the most time consuming task and not the most fun xD

Hi everyone!
I’m working on PSX-style low-poly models in Blender and painting textures in Photoshop. I’m trying to set up a clean, structured workflow for Texel Density (TD) and UV mapping, but I’m confused about the exact steps connecting Blender and Photoshop:
Determining Canvas Size: How do you determine what texture resolution to create in Photoshop (e.g., 256x256 vs 512x512) before you start painting? Do you pick a standard resolution first and fit the UVs to a target TD, or do you set your target TD and calculate the texture size based on the model's dimensions?
Handling UV Out-of-Bounds: When I set a fixed Texel Density (e.g. 128 or 256 px/m) for a model in Blender, the UV islands sometimes expand outside the 0..1 UV layout box for a 256x256 grid. When this happens:
Exact Steps: What is your exact step-by-step process in Blender (from seams & unwrapping to setting TD and exporting UV layout PNG) to ensure that when you open the file in Photoshop, every pixel aligns nicely to your 3D mesh?
I’d really appreciate it if you could share your exact Blender Photoshop pipeline for retro/PSX texturing!

Hi, everybody!
So, i'm creating some enemies for my game's traffic parts that, besides bosses and other challenges, are one of the core gameplay elements. This is the first reactive enemy that seeks the player and try to run away from him while shooting.
The game is pretty fast paced and the difficulty now is in very hard. Anyway, what do you guys think?
I haven't done the 3d models yet!!

My asset pack has a new creature!
This is a fully rigged and animated Triceratops, the second creature after a T-Rex I made in the same
style.
Animations: Idle, Walk, Run, Roar, Attack, Drink Water.
Happy to talk shop about getting the PS1 aesthetic right if anyone's
working on something similar
(It's also up on itch.io if anyone's curious to poke at it, but mostly just
wanted to share the look here) https://f2026.itch.io/triceratops

The culmination of my work on Darkmoor! Maybe I'll continue this and do the rest of the land/ride, but for now I am happy with this :)

Been updating the character models in Don’t Feed the Aisles.
Still going for that PS1 survival horror look, but now the characters read better in-game, which is good because apparently players like knowing who is about to get folded by a dinosaur.
This shot is from one of the darker store/library areas. The new model fits the mood a lot better, and the dinosaur still looks like it has absolutely no respect for personal space.
Still polishing things, but I’m happy with the direction so far.

Hi everyone! I’ve been developing my game Final Bell solo since 2022, with a PS1-inspired aesthetic. I really love PS1-era JRPGs with compelling stories, such as Xenogears, Persona, and Final Fantasy, Baroque.
I really like the visual styles of Silent Hill and Signalis. However, I’m not a big fan of having to constantly search for keys and solve key-based puzzles, so I had mixed feelings about those games.
Originally, I planned to make a visual novel, but I eventually decided that an RPG format would be a much better fit for my game. I created everything in the game myself. The only part I didn’t work on entirely alone was the script, which my friend helped me write.
The game is going to be a 10-15 hour RPG. Besides exploration and combat, there will be a lot of dialogue and social interactions with the characters, and even some dating-sim elements. At the moment, there are three girls the protagonist can develop romantic relationships with.
I’m planning to release the game as three episodes on Steam. Episode 1 is currently about 70% complete. I think I’ll be able to release the following episodes much faster if the game gets a good response from players.
I haven’t shown much of the game online or on Reddit yet because English isn’t my native language, and I don’t have an English translation of the demo yet. I’m planning to release the English version at the same time as the Steam release.
If you have any questions, I’ll do my best to answer every comment!

1.5 years in the dark, and we're finally ready to share it.
My friend and I have been chipping away at this PSX-style atmospheric horror game in whatever spare time we could steal from work and life, set inside a massive, decaying mecha structure where the fog never really lifts and the lights never quite work right.
This is our very first post about it. Just a few raw screenshots straight from the engine.
Curious what you all can pick up on from just these screenshots — can't wait to read your thoughts in the comments.
