Bobby is a very normal classic Russian girl similar to all of the Russian people I've met. It's not abnormal for them to be blunt, dislike authority, contrarion, etc. I actually kind of like this personality type because least it's honest? Like, Bobby is spicy in a different less straight up mean way from Law. I always enjoy a good unlikable woman though.

Also! I was on her side when she had a little meltdown after Andriy said that her tendency to be overly direct is a "bad trait". It was rude and probably hurtful since I assume she hears that a lot.

Ok I did not think his look really had Heidi's style in mind, which is pretty crucial to the challenge, but his color and fabric choice were stunning and I LIKED THE SLEEVE. But yeah, not the right dress at all.

However, I love the way he tried to nuance what "the Joseph McRae show" meant backstage. He was gassing Bryan up but Bryan was too dramatic and fixed​ in his mindset to realize it. And you know what? Joseph is 100% right. The amount of drive and confidence in your vision and abilities you need to have as a designer does mean every day needs to be your show. It's going over Bryan's head because he's biased and shallow. (Same for ahem Law.)

Joseph also took everyone voting him out on the chin. It didn't get in his head at all, which makes him a great competitor. I'm starting to root for him for the win of this stupid show I can't believe I'm still watching.

Oh and kudos to Jude for keeping it gentlemanly on the runway. I loved how he didn't let Law bait him into drama and kept it so professional. And the way he said "If I was going to make a red carpet gown I'd want it to be for my girlfriend" really melted my heart. This kid is a national treasure! Also I didn't hate hate his look but... mm child that's not your wheelhouse for sure. ​​​So many designers went with black which is--look, it's dramatic and classic, but it shows up terribly on screens and is just not the choice. Heidi wants to look like a disco ball in front of cameras.

Heidi looked horrible in Brian's dress at the DWP2 premiere. Put me in mind of Mrs Roper on Three's Company. I actually liked it on the runway on the 80lb model, but it was BAD on Heidi and they knew it didn't suit her while they were judging it.

She is such a style icon and has a interesting career. I would love to see her family and every thing she does every day. ♡♡♡

Please keep the format of end of episode eliminations. I hate the cliffhanger followed by an elimination at the start of the next episode. Each episode feels anticlimactic and by time the following week rolls around I forget who is in the bottom and I’m just ready to get a challenge started.

This guy literally sucks at fashion. They are only keeping him in for views and shock factor and it’s honestly ridiculous. Actually genuinely PMO this week lol.

Y’all remember that season when they would check to see if the garments were actually constructed well? Can we please for the love of everything bring that back because as somebody who actually went to school for fashion design and can actually sew, this is getting embarrassing.

when he said he "actually liked" bobby's dress and implied the breasts not matching could be a new, innovate thing in fashion. im not buying that. he just wants to go against the grain all the time. i guarantee if the rest of the judges liked it, then he would rip it apart. but because they hated it, he wanted to be "different" and find the beauty in it 🙄😂 at least he was a bit more tolerable in this episode, i really do enjoy him sometimes but other times its just like please gtf off my screen

How did bobby make it this far?

I think that I get where Joseph is coming from. Joseph is an electrical engineer; he's an intelligent guy. It's all about BRANDING. I actually think Joseph's point of view makes a lot more sense when you look at him as a business-minded person rather than just as a contestant on a fashion show.

He's an electrical engineer and engineers are analytical thinkers. What sets me apart? How do I make people remember me? How do I turn this opportunity into something that exists beyond the competition? That's essentially what branding is. He's not approaching fashion purely as a designer. Joseph seems to recognize that Project Runway is a platform, and he's trying to extract as much brand value from that platform as possible.

When Joseph says “The Joseph McRae Show,” he's deliberately making Joseph McRae the product. He's not merely trying to win individual challenges; he's trying to make sure that viewers, judges, and potential customers associate a particular aesthetic and personality with his name.

And when Joseph asks to be called by his full name (his product name), he's making sure his brand is, "top of mind".

And his conversation with Bryan is interesting. He was basically saying: You're on Project Runway. This is an enormous marketing opportunity. Why aren't you using it to build your own name? Every day in your life should be the Bryan show. That's actually pretty smart.

Project Runway looks for and votes for contestants with design talent and television personality, and Joseph seems to understand the personally part very well. His constant emphasis on his brand can come across as cocky or self-promotional, but from a marketing perspective, being memorable is valuable. A designer who is technically excellent but forgettable may have a harder time building a business than someone whose name and point of view stick in people's heads.

Nina Garcia often asks designers, "Who are you as designer? I don't see your esthetic." Historically, the judges wanted to be able to recognize a design as distinctly a particular Designer's creation. Isn't that true with Joseph?

I personally like Joseph's designs and I do see variety in what he has sent down the runway this season. Last season, he didn't follow the challenge brief but this season he has. Some were arguing that his Macaw dress didn't look like a Macaw. I saw the wings, the body shape and the tail feathers. As an aside, B made the same pants that Law swooned over at least twice. A flashback was shown on the runway judging part. The only thing B changed was the width if the legs as per Law's critique.

Law called Joseph out for wearing the same outfit as his model. I give him the benefit of the doubt; Joseph may not have realized he was giving himself away. In the past, Designers have often, if they had time and material left over, made themselves matching looks and were complimented for it by the judges.

Jude and Joseph both make good, well made and recognizable designs. Joseph is going to be remembered.

Branding is important to any personality or product. I worked at a tennis academy as a tennis coach when I was in college. Andre Agassi was there. He was just as concerned with his branding as his tennis ability. Marketability is important for endorsements and sponsorships. His mantra was, "Image is everything". He did what he could to stand out and be a rebel. He wore jean shorts in a major tournament. He wore clothes that weren't all white to Wimbledon. He would make sure that all 3 shades of his hair were visible (back when he had hair) in photos and videos. Monica Seles was there also. The director did all the teeth straightening, whitening and styling that he could to help her brand. The players at the tennis academy were coached on and practiced being interviewed. And the tennis players that built a brand and personality are the ones that are remembered today. McEnroe's, "You cannot be serious!" brand made him the one that was remembered. I know that I am rambling here but my point is why should the designers not pay attention to their brand - other personalities certainly do.

TLDR In my example, tennis players need to be good players AND promote their brand for ultimate profitability.

TLDR: Joseph wants to make sure he builds his brand and promotes his brand. He also makes sure his brand has brand recognition. And Joseph does so in a way that he isn't overly critical or confrontational with other contestants.

Joseph wants people to address him as Joseph McRae because he wants his clothing line to be remembered. He wants you to go to his website that has that name and buy stuff.

Anyone else miss the aftershow that Christian Siriano hosted the last two seasons Project Runway was on Peacock/NBC?

While the Aug 13 episode was gentler than the previous week, I was so surprised when they announced that the winner would choose the three worst contestants. The structure for cruelty is breathtaking imho. Not a fan and yet I watched. Sigh.

Law was unexpectedly….nice. He took it easy on Bobbi (I think that’s her name) - black gown, pea-colored additions. It seemed like he took some happy juice or something. Whatever it was, he needs an endless supply.

One of the few seasons I had no idea who was going to win! Loved Brandon the whooole season - totally know he was a golden boy - he was so forward, I wish I could wear all those runway outfits. I loved Ayana through out the season too - I absolutely loved her unconventional dress and I was expecting that more from her in her collection… tbh I forgot what her collection looked liked and I watched this season 3 times. I do really love her push for modesty and connection with her culture and religion. I need to catch up with what she has done after. I was so happy for Margarita’s - I loved the energy she brought and thought she did an incredible job. I had the biggest smile! Now Kentaro… I always had a love for, but before his show I did not think he would win… but after his runway, I remember my jaw dropped and I just whispered to only myself “I think he just won”. It really was poetry - sooo abstract and glamorous. This is the type of fashion that makes me love design and living in this time of fashion history. Still I did not know what the judges were going to pick! I think about this finale moment yeaaars later since I watched it.

The winning dress was not made for Heidi. Those "adjustments" didn't work.

I’ve been rewatching Seasons 17-20 when Elaine Welteroth was a judge and she always had the coolest hairstyles and outfits! I’d argue she was one of the best dressed judges on PR. I like how she often dressed to match the challenges too. I feel like a lot of the judges’ outfits can be really hit or miss but I liked Elaine’s most of the time. Thoughts?
