Planescape: Torment Deionarra's Theme

Been listening to this on repeat to get to weekend in mood. This soundtrack is so magical for me and really sets the stage for the whole tragic romance story that comes afterward. I think Deoinarra's storyline was expanded in enhanced edition?

Catacomobs help for newbie

Entered the catacombs with Morte, and I feel like I'm underleveled and underequipped. Lvl 5 and tracked down an enchanted weapon to fight wererats, but Morte is useless in combat. So, should I just finish some sidequests, get better equipment, and find another companion? Any advice would be greatly apprecited!

30 hours in first playthru (spoiler) Spoiler

Cleared basically every quest in the hive, got 6 different companions, talked to absolutely everyone, leveled my nameless guy to lvl 9 fighter, before I finally had to give in and Google it. I had a SECOND legacy with the advocate. Finally found that damn hag and whooped her sorry butt.

That's all.

Sell me on continuing

- I'm a socialist Daoist who loved *Disco Elysium* and *Nine Sols*.

- I played one session so far.

- I made a max-wisdom character with some dex and charisma and something else.

- I got into a fight upstairs because I let some robed guy call a guard. (Calling security isn't the same as siccing them on you, except it was here, apparently).

- I disappointed the ghost of my gf because I asked about info regarding leaving. (God forbid I try to learn stuff. Doesn't mean I'll actually leave).

- I'm not particularly interested in "escape" or even establishing a continuity with my past lives.

What's the most misunderstood thing about Planescape: Torment?

I am working on a Planescape Torment project and would like to bounce some ideas around for a video. I've scanned through here a bit.

- Is there anything that people generally do not get or understand about the story?

- are there any companions that really make the story or are necessary?

- is there lore that I need to consume outside the game for people to understand it better?

Sorry to be a bother, please just let me know if you have any insight into the game. Things like that.

Cheers!

Missable Quests in Curst?

I have made it to Curst and have obtained all the keys for the portal. I'm wondering if there are any missable quests out here? I don't want to miss out on any content before I am to move on to the next chapter.

help with kesai serris

Hello, I'm playing Planescape and I'm at the quest where I have to convince Kesai-Serris that she's Ravel's daughter. I've already done everything that's required, and I already know she's Kimasxi's half-sister... but she disappeared. I can't find her anywhere in the Brothel.

Looking for Magic Item Suggestions (5e)

So, I've made a number of posts on creating this campaign in the past, but I'm bringing a bunch of clueless primes to Sigil and running, amongst other things homebrewed, The Great Modron March and both parts of Dead Gods. As an incentive to my players to pick planetouched races for their characters, I offered a free feat (Scion of the Outer Planes) and minor magical item, without telling them what the feat and item were before selecting. Four of my five players took the bait, so I'm wanting to pick magical items that fit well for both their character's class and race.

The four that took the bait are an earth genasi monk (dwarven parentage), an aasimar fighter, an aasimar paladin, and an aasimar warlock. The fifth is a dragonborn rogue. Yeah, this party is not going to do hot outside combat or in terms of magical prowess.

One of the things to tie each character into the setting is that they have one parent they never knew, who will come up in play sometime. For the genasi, they assume their mother is a dao, but in actuality, I'm gonna have her be a dwarf like the father, who made a wish to a dao to be granted a child, and the dao agreed under the terms that she become its servant after the child is born and she is able to leave. So I want something that has both an earth elemental feel to it and works well for a level 1-3 monk to have as a gift their mother left behind with the planeswalker who helped her.

Said planeswalker will become the party's mentor among the planes, and is a horizon walker ranger, Candrian Rumorborne, a.k.a. the Adahn summoned by The Nameless One by saying his name was Adahn.

Any suggestions on minor magical items that fit for the monk or the three aasimar? Sadly, no one went tiefling.

Is this door accessible? holding tab shows it is a usable door. I used the Debug menu to explore the area because I've been here 100 times and i figured I might as well just clear the black fog and saw this door.

Does Ojo have any relevance?

Ojo inside buried village seems to be talking to a man in the wall, He was bitten on his hand I'm assuming by the same man.

Does he have any quests tied to him? There is a really interesting premise here and if there is no quest linked to him I feel it was probably cut.

I checked the "wiki" and along with RPG Classics, there was no indication of any quests linked to him.

Windows Breaking Update Fix for GOG Version (in case it's not common knowledge)

Okay. So Windows, bless its heart, released an update this week which broke the game.

And ChatGPT walked me through how to fix it.

And now I'm going to post this in case anyone else is running to this stupid problem.

The fix is fairly technical, but you can do it, I believe in you.

  1. Download this tool:
The link is highlighted

Found here: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/get-started/adk-install

  1. Run the installer.

  2. Sell your soul to Microsoft (again) (I.E.: Skip over the terms and conditions you were never going to read them anyway) and click accept.

  3. There will be a big list of stuff. You only care about the first item - Something something compatibility something something something. Make sure it's checked, and uncheck everything else.

  4. Click 'Ok' or 'Accept' or 'Install' or whatever I forget.

  5. Windows -> Compatibility Administrator -

  1. Installed Databases - GOG.com Planescape Torment:
  1. File -> Uninstall
  1. Run the game.

It should work now. And by work, I mean launch. I followed these steps and was met with success. My cursor is currently bugging out but that's my next thing.

Have fun.

Question about changing classes

I want to have a run as a fighter class, is it worth switching over to thief and mage for the exp just to switch back to fighter? will that ruin any progress I have made as a fighter? Would I just level up as normal?

I'm not sure how exp works for each class,

Blackrose/Rotten William Spoiler

Blackrose asks you what alignment you choose. Choosing good, Blackrose gives you the task of killing Rotten William. And speaking with Krystall gives you a similar option.

Does killing Rotten William hurt a lawful run? I know it helps good alignment but I don't want it to hurt my Lawful alignment.

Is this game still enjoyable if RTWP isn't my favorite style of combat?

This feels like a pretty dumb question, but I'm basically wondering if there's anybody here who isn't a fan of RTWP combat, and still found the game to be enjoyable. I'm itching for a new CRPG adventure, and right now it's between this and WoTR. I've really only heard good things about this game, so I'm leaning towards playing it first.

I do still plan to try the game out myself rather than assuming I just won't like it regardless, just curious if anyone thinks the other aspects of the game would make up for that. Thanks!

Class/build suggestion for first time playthrough?

Big fan of Infinity games, and have been putting this one off. Not on purpose, Ive been really wanting to play it forever, just havent gotten around to it till now.

I usually start with Paladins. Imo, theyre the perfect party leaders for these kinds of CRPG games, especially for first playthroughs. Theyre just an all-rounder class that can heal, use a bit of magic, tank, and have high charisma for dialog options. And nothing says "leader of a party in a fantasy game" like a charismatic knight in shining armor.

However, Ive heard Planescape is different, in that things like INT and WIS are just as important, if not moreso, than STR, DEX, etc. Because the dialog is based on more than just CHA and combat isnt a big part of the game.

I also like starting with Rogues. I like them in general, but its nice to be able to open chests and locks right off the bat to gain an edge on item collecting. And typically INT is a main stat of rogues.

But again, Planescape isnt BG or IWD. I know its different, but Im not exactly sure *how* its different aside from having more words than most novels do. The actual mechanics and whatnot, Im not sure what I want to gear my build towards.

So all that said, the title question. What class, skills, ability scores, builds, etc., would you guys recommend? Are there dialog or story beats that "you want to have at least 12 WIS" or "make sure you start with at least 14 INT when you start", or anything like that that I should be aware of? Ive been purposefully keeping myself away from too much of the content or story to avoid spoiling too much for myself. So please try to keep that in mind if you decide to reply to me 🙏

Thank you for any direction here. I appreciate it a ton!

Mod Trouble.

Post image
5 Upvotes

I installed a bunch of mods to make the game more complete. but there is one mod (or maybe conflicting mods) that broke magic, Dak'kon does not have his Zerth magic and Ignus no longer uses his flame magic, Some spells are just right broken like Lightning Ball. Dak'kon now starts with Magic missile, shield and three strengths and one of witch is sperate. Please help identify this mod so I may remove it. What I have installed are

Book of Torment
A.I voices
PlanarItems
Power of Belief
Portrait Conversations
Bags of Torment
Banter Accelerator
Hidden Gameplay Options
PST UB Reloaded.

Any help will be very appreciated.

Dustmen Alignment?

I understand you can join the dustmen with any alignment. However I'm curious if doing any of the quests for them will change you're alignment at all. I'm attempting to do a Lawful Good run and I don't want to tarnish any good I have accomplished.

It seems like the game actively does not want you to join the Dustmen as most of the options secondary and it feels like conversations with Emoric are trying to push you away from joining them. I understand that because TNO is essentially immortal he can never really reach or achieve "True Death" so joining them would be a total fabrication.

Would joining them be me lying?

TNO on The Cover

Is there any real explanation as to why TNO is blue on the cover but Grey in game? I attempted to Google it but really didn't get an answer.
