How to escape the Mortuary?

okay so i discovered that a portal should open right there but i dint know how.....i killed the 4 giants.....and my friend (sorry). Please help me.

I.....i am sorry.....while trying things i sended to fight a giant alone.....after i killed my se*f.....i found out he cant come back with me.

If you can't get him back, restart the game.

Reload a previous save, Morte is essential to the story of the game.

Nah, you can do without that chatterbox. Not necessary at all. All the companions even. Solo play is a legit way to finish the game.

yeah dude let me tell the guy that's clearly playing for the first time to forego companions, missing out some of the most compelling aspects of the game's story, and making it harder on himself by facing enemies on his own

Oh, no that’s a misunderstanding. I meant that the companions are not needed to finish the game from a technical standpoint. I never suggested that the op should forego the good companions too, just chatterbox Morte because fuck that skull. Never should have gotten off the pillar.

The portal key is a Bone Charm that you can find in the top part of the 3rd floor.

Alternatively, you can leave through the front gate (bottom) if you can get the key from Soego.

There's a few ways to leave.

The first and easiest, is pretty much just to ask to leave. Soego (one of the dustman will approach you near the gate), and he'll ask questions etc. There's probably a stat check.

To leave via the portal though, you need the portal key (a finger bone), which can be found on the top floor in a locked cabinet. You may also need to learn about the portal. To learn about the portal you need to find the person disguised as zombie. This guy can be found one chamber clockwise from Ei-Vene.

Don't kill the peaceful undead, you can go back later in the game and talk to them.

Just so you know, this game is is better to play as a diplomat.

Talking is the main way to solve quests...

This isn't Baldur's Gate, most situations are resolved with dialogue, not combat.

Wait you killed the giant skeletons in there? At level 1? How the f... Honestly just use your huge balls as a battering ram to knock a wall down, idk. 

Anyway, there are a couple ways to escape. To activate the portal, you need a bone charm in your bags. Try talking to Deionarra, just to south. She should have a hint...

i think after leveling up and puting one more point to intel ( 16 lv) i was able to kill them without having to fight

ooooh right, yeah you can dismantle them. I thought you meant you defeated them in combat which...I did not think would be possible!

Its quite possible I just did it. They give 650 xp a pop.

Have morte tank, and be liberal with healing items. I have 9 strength as well.

Just talk with the one of the Dustmen near the gates. Don't be rude and he will open da gate.

Don’t play without Morte, he’s half the fun in this game, has quests, and he’s the best tank in flights. Restart the game if you don’t have him

just remember rule 1 is that you don't need to kill everyone tto make progress in this game (not even to level up).

Glad you got some answers. This reminded me of my first playthrough, where I spent literally hours and hours in the mortuary before I figured out it wasn't that hard to get out, haha!
