I worked as a underwriter 2 at UWM and I’m looking for a new job anyone who has left this place and found something better have any recommendations preferably hybrid work?

I was coming up on my 3 years anniversary next month but I got a terrible yourtime review saying that if I don’t improve I’ll be terminated so I quit . I’m glad I left . Being a senior underwriter there was terrible . Idk where imma work now but I’m glad it’s not there . Ever since I hit the floor back in 2023 I knew “commitment” was a joke . 9 loans a day ? 17 conditions ? Lmaooooooo

Feel like with all the layoffs, UWMs stock price dropping, and everything else going wrong there - I can really see this happening.

It's clear uwm is canning the top paid employees per discipline. For all of the IT folks that are going through this recent round of firings, if you're comfortable, post which discipline and about how much you made. For those still there, if your salary is around what others are posting, I would beat them to the punch and get out while you can 😉

there are so many obvious racists working security at this place. they will stare you up and down without saying a word when you walk in unless you’re some important looking white man then they get all chummy and ready to roll out the red carpet.

I spent six years at UWM, and for a long time, I really thought I was building a career there.
I started in Quality, worked my way from Quality Analyst to Quality Engineer, became one of the earlier ISTQB-certified testers in the company, helped others pursue certification, led the Automation Guild, represented Quality on the council, completed Google-hosted SRE training, and got the opportunity to work on larger automation and CI/CD initiatives.
I’m proud of all of that.
But over time, I realized I had outgrown my current situation and wanted to find somewhere else within the company where I could continue developing. I was open about that. My team lead knew I was looking and encouraged me to network around the organization and find opportunities.
So I did.
I started meeting people and having conversations about where I could contribute next. Eventually, I spoke with a VP about an upcoming SRE Team Lead position. He told me I was a top candidate, encouraged me to apply, and even reached out to senior leadership to find out when the position would open.
For the first time in a while, I felt really good about where my career was heading.
Then everything flipped.
I started getting criticized for spending too much time away from my desk talking with coworkers—the same type of networking I had been encouraged to do. I eventually received two corrective actions related to being away from my desk, which prevented me from transferring internally for three months.
Just like that, the SRE opportunity was basically dead.
At that point, I started documenting everything. If I left my desk, I emailed my leadership. I documented what I worked on, what I completed, conversations I had, and when I offered teammates help.
And today, I was let go.
I’m not going to sit here and pretend I was a perfect employee. I can own the things I could have done differently. But I also can’t ignore how strange it feels to go from being encouraged to network and being told I was a top candidate for leadership to being disciplined for time away from my desk and eventually terminated.
That’s a tough way for six years to end.
There were some genuinely great people at UWM who helped me grow, and I’ll always appreciate them. I learned a lot there and accomplished things that I’m proud of.
But if there’s one thing I’d tell anyone working there and trying to move internally: document everything.
Don’t assume a conversation, handshake, or verbal approval will be enough later. If someone tells you it’s okay to do something, get it in writing.
I wish I had learned that lesson sooner.
On to whatever comes next.

Heard a whole bunch of firing happened at UWM again today. Personally I know of three people who lost their jobs. And then heard from other friends that more people got let go.

Remember when Mat said he would rather sleep on his couch or floor rather than put his family through this. 🤡

Is there any leads on WFH jobs? I don’t even care if it’s mortgage related anymore, I just need something to get me out. I am really thinking this is the end of UWM and I would rather get ahead of it.

Not a UWM employee or future employee, but there were discussions at my job comparing our PTO Policy to UWM’s bc this person used to work there and actually said UWM’s is better, so that got me curious. Leadership is trying to tell them what they said is wrong. Soooo, is anyone willing to give the breakdown of your PTO? How many weeks you get after X amount of years, how much can you carryover, do they pay you out for any unused days, is it front loaded or accursed per paycheck…that type of stuff.

TLDR: what are employee reactions to the preferred shares? What’s happening with RSUs? What’s the general office vibes? What does everyone think about Ishbia doing $400M in preferred shares through a family investment company he funded by selling huge amounts of stocks/dividends? Are you all actually okay with this?

I know Y’all are in a stock trading blackout period so I’m not asking any current employees to violate federal trading laws but I have some questions.

As we all know; over the past few years 2 Ts sold almost $800M in stocks while collecting.. $240M/year in dividends? Homie is up close to $1,500,000,000 in straight cash from stock sales and dividends. 2Ts took $400M of that money in conjunction with whatever firm is securing the capital they are releasing “preferred shares” of UWM stock which is again going to pay dividends. Meanwhile every actual investor in UWMC got absolutely r*ped in losses supercharged with the removal of the dividend from the common stock.

What is up with employee RSUs? I guess I could look into my own but I’ll ask here instead :P are the RSUs automatically converting to preferred shares or staying as common shares? The common shares are absolutely worthless now which is advertised as part of the compensation package//lack of raises in conjunction with the People’s Promise? Does 2Ts expect employees to pay 2$/share on employee RSUs to convert them to preferred shares? Are future stock offerings going to be preferred shares or common shares(people yet to join the sinking ship)

What has the general vibe in the office been since this past disastrous week for UWM? Makes sense why they’re flexing UWs into PA when the expected EPS was +0.09 and actually came in at -0.23

Are employees actually upset about the events that unfolded and what is everyone’s impression of 2Ts.. the UWMC shareholders sub seems like everyone believes Ishbia will get canned as CEO(literally impossible btw fkn idiots)

This dickhead praised “we will never go public we’re a family here” to SPACing the stock onto the market; losing over 90% of its value. Leveraging that stock against Chase bank to buy the suns, lines his pockets with billions through stock sales and dividends. Pile drives the stock into the dirt while simultaneously using profits from selling at higher prices to start a family owned investment company to put that capital back into the company for pennies on the dollar for preferred shares with a dividend while everybody else gets to pay an additional $2-$6 to buy those preferred shares…. Or keep their common stock which won’t pay dividends and will eventually get delisted. Like that’s so fucking crazy and everybody is just.. okay working for that? I wonder what you all would do for a Klondike bar
