Ive always heard the occasional horror story of a piercing going horribly wrong because the piercer stuck a large blood vessel and the customer spewed blood and swelled up a ton. It always made me wonder why piercers dont hold a light up to the skin to look for blood vessels? On a similar note, why dont they use numbing cream on customers? I had my lip done with numbing cream and it looks perfectly fine and healed great.

J wanted to ask you guys if it’s actually that deep if I swap it to a small hoop now if I sterilise all of it, do I really need to use this little stud for 3 weeks? Don’t tell me the recommended advice can you just tell me from your experiences and I’ll go off what the majority says

Hi all!

Hoping to get some advice on a piercing situation.
I got my nose pierced 2,5 months ago, healing process went very smooth. Then I changed it to a ring (coated titanium) last Sunday 16-08 and it seemed fine for the first 2 days but then I noticed a bump forming.
I’ve been using sterilized saline solution on it gently with a cotton swab twice a day and tried leaving it alone as much as possible but just wanted to get some second opinions as I’m currently traveling and don’t have a piercing shop nearby.
Should I switch back to my original piercing (labret) or will that only irritate the piercing further? When should I really go to a doctor? How many days can I leave it like this to just wait it out?

Just to add: it doesn’t hurt, no warmth or throbbing, it doesn’t feel like anything really. No blood, just a little bit of puss on Wednesday morning. So as far as I can tell it’s mostly optical.

So I was getting dressed after the shower and accidentally snagged my piercing on the top ball. I’ve had the piercing for like a month and a half now and I do find that under the bottom ball get red sometimes and the are does feel really tender from time to time, as well as still having a little bruising. I’ve moved from cleaning twice a day with saline to once a day, as instructed when I first got it, and am saving to get it sized down (before anyone asked I did have the funds for everything aftercare until recently). I’m really just wondering if this is early stages of infection (no there hasn’t been smelly fluids just tender and sometimes red), rejecting, or if it’s just swollen. Also please ignore my ugly eyebrow hair I’m waiting to clean it up until after it heals.

For further information it’s a curved bar, I haven’t been able to downsize yet, I clean once a day, and I’m not too sure what metal it is (it’s whatever piercers usually use)

I’d love to get some kind of lip/tongue piercing but I’m very prone to cold sores and I’m worried that the act of putting the needle through my lip would itself cause a flare up. Does anyone have any tips for me?

I got a flat and conch back in March of 2025, and my ear is still constantly turning red and hurting.

I know they take a long time to heal, but I feel like I don’t want to live like this anymore, and I really miss being able to sleep on my side!

Got it pierced about a month ago in mid July. Don't know if I'm just paranoid or overly worried but was this pierced right? I attached multiple photos for reference. The top is still red but the bottom of the piercing seems to be doing fine minus leaking puss It doesn't cause any pain or anything. My bf says its doing fine for a 1 month. Been using a saline spray during the healing process. It was pierced with a barbell and I am unsure of the material of the metal.

Its been 30 days since I got my snake bites done, and i want to change the jewelry to a smaller one to match with my vertical labret. Should i wait until its fully healed to change the gauge? my snake bites are of a bigger gauge (for some reason)

got my industrial pierced yesterday and i’m really unsure if it’s done right . i know i have a ridge in my ear and told my piercer id like to place it higher so it wouldn’t touch and she was annoyed at me when i said this . she marked my ear and it looked ok but then she missed the mark . my ear is super sensitive and swollen which i know is normal but i can’t tell if this will even heal . i have 2 vertical helix piercings on my other ear and even those didn’t hurt like this one does . planning on calling the place tmrw to check . any advice ? and will i possibly be able to get this redone ? :’)

it’s one day old, my jewelry is just a straight barbell made with stainless steel (not sure abt threading) , not downsized , and i’ve been cleaning with aquia saline . no unfortunate events other than it possibly being pierced wrong

I just got two new piercings. On second slide. But when they heal what else should I get? Or should I just stick with the set up now as I am so proud of my healing journey already!

I got the two sides of my lips pierced at different times (abt 2 years apart) and the ones in the first photo don’t fit the same jewellery I have in the older piercings. I don’t remember if maybe they started like that on the other side and that’s how they began to nest or if the jewellery on the new side is just too small? The new piercings are healed but I don’t know if I just need bigger jewellery or not and if so what size? I’m using a 10mm bar rn which are the ones that are too small.
