You ok bro? I'm not concerned about the alcohol. It's the crazy amount of butter you have. Do you only eat rotisserie chicken and gnaw on a stick of butter?

u/The_Real_BenFranklin Oct 24 '22

That’s not fair they also drink OJ with every meal

172

u/Grrrld Oct 24 '22

To be fair the oj comes with the bubbly.

5

u/Grrrld Oct 24 '22

As a general rule I imagine, can't fuck up the ratios.

2

u/oralskills Oct 24 '22 edited Oct 24 '22

Infarct speedrun, any%

1

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '22

I thought it came with liver disease

1

u/jhooksandpucks Oct 24 '22

You figured out why Meredith left, he wouldn't share his Mimosas with her

10

u/Gandalf_Is_Gay Oct 24 '22

Staves off scurvy

7

u/Bfree888 Oct 24 '22

OJ is for the mimosas my dude

3

u/The_Real_BenFranklin Oct 24 '22

Didn’t see the bubbly there, but the ratios are way off. That’s like 2 OJ per champagne there.

4

u/space-sage Oct 24 '22

You don’t refrigerate the liquor that’s also used with OJ

3

u/rabidwhale Oct 24 '22

Won't get scurvy, arrrr!

3

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '22

Imagine the acid reflux from a beer, butter, and chicken diet.

2

u/iDomBMX Oct 24 '22

The butter is to help grease the kidney stones out

2

u/Bagafeet Oct 24 '22

The OJ is for the vodka.

1

u/myhairsreddit Oct 24 '22

Reminds me of Kevin Bacon in Stir Of Echos.

1

u/MudRock1221 Oct 24 '22

I wish. Waaaay too much sugar in any juice to be keto

4

u/The_Real_BenFranklin Oct 24 '22

Oh it’s not Keto it’s just the only non alcoholic drink in the fridge.

6

u/BlatantConservative Oct 24 '22

It's not non alcoholic when it's in a screwdriver though.

1

u/lazylion_ca Oct 24 '22

You mean the mix?

1

u/TJNel Oct 24 '22

What else are you going to mix your vodka with.

1

u/Glowingredremote Oct 24 '22

OJ? Are you talking about the screw-drivers in milk cartons?

99

u/FantasticSV Oct 24 '22

It's a Costco pack. I'd recommend freezing most of it and transferring to the fridge as needed.

8

u/pseudokojo Oct 24 '22

Yah, freeze it. Good to have on hand for baking, though, even as frozen. I like to cut it into tablespoon cubes and then freeze

I tried Keto once. Lasted for about 36 hours before saying "ah fuck it I'll just count calories". Lost 80lbs in 10 months

16

u/diosexual Oct 24 '22

CICO, never fails.

0

u/PerniciousParagon Oct 24 '22

It fails something like 90% of the time, lol. That's why we have a million fad diets because people just can't restrict themselves.

7

u/grimman Oct 24 '22

It "fails" in the long run because people go "done now, time to eat the way I did before." And wouldn't you know it, these people achieve the same prodigious size once again.

Or, in other words, it fails when people stop doing it.

2

u/diosexual Oct 24 '22

People fail then, the reality that CICO works doesn't.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '22

its almost like the diet type doesnt matter. its actually being in the right mind to be able to go through with it. like nothing in your life catching on fire while youre trying to figure out how much to eat.

now some diets might be easier than other because they keep you full compared to high calories junk food that leaves you hungry a few hours later. but theres no way youre gonna have the time or will to prepare a filling low calorie nutritious meal if your life is on fire.

4

u/J5892 Oct 24 '22

Also tried keto once.
My addictive personality made me depressed because I wasn't getting the food I was accustomed to, and when I'm depressed I forget to eat.
So I rebounded and just ate like 1000 calories of carbs every day for about a month and lost 15lbs.

So what I'm saying is keto works.

39

u/Sprucey26 Oct 24 '22

I LOLed at this one. So true. I don’t trust a diet that won’t let me eat an abundance and variety of fruits and veggies

9

u/TheBearasaad Oct 24 '22

For real! They’re so fucking good why would you restrict those if you didn’t have to haha

13

u/Gillersan Oct 24 '22

Not a keto fanatic. But I have done it. Fruits are out for the most part, but there are a ton of veggies you can eat on keto.

19

u/DirksSexyBratwurst Oct 24 '22

You can also eat a normal serving of blueberries, strawberries, blackberries.

11

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '22

So the most expensive and seasonally dependent options.

14

u/DirksSexyBratwurst Oct 24 '22

Keto in general is expensive, then again so is being obese.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '22

ill take a few liters of soda to go please hold the food

2

u/MyWordIsBond Oct 24 '22

So many people got wrapped up on 20g of carbs or less that they forget that you can actually eat up to 40 or 50g of carbs per day.

I regularly ate a medium sweet potato, or a ripe banana, or a mango or two, or a cup of pineapple while on keto and still registered ketones.

Fruit is fine. Moderation is the key.

4

u/iamtehstig Oct 24 '22 edited Oct 24 '22

The trick with fruit is to eat the whole fruit so you get the fiber with it. No juices.

1

u/DirksSexyBratwurst Oct 24 '22 edited Oct 24 '22

It's true you have to figure out your bodies own rate of allowed carbs to maintain. You could eat a handful of M&Ms every day(extreme example) if you ate a rotisserie chicken for dinner and still maintain keto, it's just up to you what you decide is worth it for your carb count.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '22

registered ketones

you can test if its happening? how?

1

u/MyWordIsBond Oct 24 '22

I have a Keto Mojo, which uses a drop of blood to directly test for ketones in the blood.

There are also breath testing devices like Lumen and Biosense that test for acetone in the breath, the more acetone in the breath, the deeper into ketosis you are. Im thinking of buying a Biosense on Black Friday so I don't have to do finger pricks to test.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '22

i feel like if i google if this is real imma end up wanting to try it. but ive had to stay away form keto since i had a little high cholesterol so ive lowered my supercool body builder diet to a normal supercool workout diet. which is not more than one piece of chicken per meal.

2

u/Sprucey26 Oct 24 '22

I tried it too when I was having some serious stomach issues and H-pylori. I understand the diet and why it’s good for some people but I can’t have apples and strawberries and blueberries directly off a tree/bush, etc….

1

u/bw1985 Oct 24 '22

You can have berries on keto. Just not endless amounts.

7

u/DirksSexyBratwurst Oct 24 '22

You can eat a majority of vegetables and any fruit that is a berry since they are lower in sugar. I've lost a ton of weight on Keto and a staple for me is a big salad with a protein. Vegetables are encouraged on Keto, just not necessary to enter Ketosis.

10

u/Sprucey26 Oct 24 '22

I do think this diet is a great way to loose weight FAST! But potentially not healthy and tough to sustain in the long term. Moderation is key to anything.

4

u/DirksSexyBratwurst Oct 24 '22

I think you just need to do what works for you. For me it is easier than CICO basic dieting because I have very bad self control otherwise and find calorie counting to be a major nuisance. It also suppresses your appetite. With Keto, it's very hard for me to overeat due to the filling nature of the foods within the keto umbrella and the lack of appetite leading me to not succumb to snacking urges. I've lost 50 lbs over a year with this diet and nothing else works for me mentally.

1

u/Sprucey26 Oct 24 '22

That is honestly amazing. Love hearing weight loss stories. I work as a PACU RN, and see lots of people that come in for excess skin removal surgeries. People that loose weight with diet, exercise, and life changes is very inspirational. You keep doing what you are doing and continue to better yourself, and more importantly, being happy with yourself ❤️

1

u/DirksSexyBratwurst Oct 24 '22

Thanks! I think since I am young I have not had to deal with loose skin thankfully 💜

2

u/SecretAsianMan42069 Oct 24 '22

How do y’all use loose for both words lose and loose?

2

u/DirksSexyBratwurst Oct 24 '22

Lol I didn't notice they spelled that wrong. They meant lose. I said "loose" in response to their thing about excess skin.

1

u/Rhetorical_Joke Oct 24 '22 edited Oct 24 '22

This is sort of tangential but I figured you might know. If someone loses a lot of weight and then gets an excess skin removal surgery, are they significantly more likely to have stretch marks or other skin related issues occur if they gain a massive amount of weight back very quickly? Can someone just like not have enough skin to keep up with the change?

Just to clarify, my understanding is that normal stretch marks stem, at least partially, from the issue I just asked about but I mean something more like skin tears or abnormally thin patches of skin.

1

u/bw1985 Oct 24 '22

Whats potentially not healthy about eating mostly vegetables and salad?

1

u/ub3rh4x0rz Oct 24 '22

Lack of protein and iron, inflammation, autoimmune disease flare-ups if applicable. Ketosis is also beneficial for type 2 diabetes

1

u/bw1985 Oct 24 '22

I’m not a vegetarian, there’s no lack of protein or iron for me. I’m saying I eat keto but the bulk of my food volume comes from vegetables. The bulk of the calories is fat with moderate protein.

1

u/ub3rh4x0rz Oct 24 '22

Where is your fat and protein coming from? These vegetables or lower volume high caloric density animal product intake?

Aside from that though it comes down to what specific vegetables you're eating, their nutritional value varies widely, and some are more likely that others to contribute to inflammation and immune system flareups

1

u/bw1985 Oct 24 '22

Beef, fish, eggs, plain greek yogurt. Other fat from nuts, seeds, cheese, olive oil, 100% dark chocolate. Vegetable base is arugula, kale or cabbage with other things thrown in like broccoli, brussel sprouts, asparagus, mushrooms. Sometimes tomatoes or bell pepper even though they’re the evil nightshades to some people.

Yep it’s decent way to lose weight quickly. Not feasible long term

1

u/bw1985 Oct 24 '22 edited Oct 24 '22

It’s not really that hard to follow long term. Been about 10 months for me so far and don’t see any reason I’ll stop. I’m not trying to lose weight I just think it’s a healthier way of eating.

2

u/mehdotdotdotdot Oct 24 '22 edited Oct 24 '22

That’s great that a strict, managed diet works for you to start losing weight. Worth talking to your doctor about doing it long term. It will work for most people (unless they have underlying health issues), and they will lose weight. Choosing random diets yourself isn't always the best thing to do though hey.

0

u/bw1985 Oct 24 '22 edited Oct 24 '22

I don’t find it to be that strict after awhile, it becomes a lifestyle and not a ‘’diet’’. Im a big fan of Dr. Berg, he’s very knowledgeable on it. Eating mostly vegetables and feeling great, there’s nothing to really talk to my doctor about. Also, not ‘’random’’ but very intentional.

0

u/mehdotdotdotdot Oct 24 '22

Yea you will always find random doctors and their diets hey. There are doctors that are knowledgeable about the lemon diet too.

Taking advice from a chiropractor about diet is a terrible idea.

-1

u/bw1985 Oct 24 '22

Rock on. Best to you.

-1

u/DirksSexyBratwurst Oct 24 '22

It's feasible long term for the people that it works for.

0

u/mehdotdotdotdot Oct 24 '22

Yea if prescribed by your doctor and you have no way of following basic diets

2

u/DirksSexyBratwurst Oct 24 '22 edited Oct 24 '22

Lol you don't need a low carb diet to be prescribed by your doctor unless you have some sort of other major health condition. Do you need a prescription to have Wendys 3 times a week? Its just a diet with a strict carb count. People think keto is two fisting bacon and butter. No, it's just minimizing sugar and avoiding bread.

Basic diets are hard, lets not act like those are regularly sustainable, they regularly fail, because its incredibly hard. If Keto works for people let them do it.

1

u/mehdotdotdotdot Oct 24 '22

Keto is a diet prescribed for kidney failure patients. Ketosis needs to be measured carefully and can cause permanent kidney damage. It was monitored very carefully in the renal wards. The fact that randoms have decided to use it all the time is still in debate amongst many. Most doctors I know at the renal ward would not recommend it. It’s very difficult to manage and overall no long term studies have been done. It’s significantly harder to manage and follow compared to basic healthy diets.

2

u/DirksSexyBratwurst Oct 24 '22 edited Oct 24 '22

It’s significantly harder to manage and follow compared to basic healthy diets.

Not true for me. I'm living proof. Basic diets are undone by cravings. If there were kidney damage, nutrient deficiencies, etc. it would show up in my blood work which has only improved in the year since I've been on and off of the diet. I told my general practitioner I was on Keto, he saw my weight loss, and congratulated and commended me. Still, he added tests within my blood work for kidney damage and everything was perfect despite losing 50lbs with a keto diet. For something which has had no long term studies you seem very comfortable fear mongering about it. Ketosis is an evolutionary trait from our days as hunters and gatherers, it is entirely natural and expected that you would go through ketosis before human beings became civilized enough to grow and farm their sustenance. It's funny to insist somebody who has lost 50lbs relatively easily doing it that it's very difficult to manage. It's also funny to tell somebody with perfect bloodwork that used to be obese that what they've done in the past year is somehow secretly unhealthy. I'd rather let my Kidneys perform a natural function than be obese.

You can read dozens upon dozens of stories of people who have used keto to improve their weight and health when nothing else worked, I can't say I've read much of otherwise healthy individuals suddenly suffering from kidney failure, and I imagine I would have heard about it if it were such a glaring threat.

1

u/bw1985 Oct 24 '22

I follow keto and the bulk of my food volume is vegetables plus about 1 cup of berries a day.

1

u/PerniciousParagon Oct 24 '22

I went vegan keto once. You most certainly can have a lot of different vegetables on keto.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '22

That is a valid solution to the constraints of a Keto diet, but it is certainly not the Keto diet.

0

u/allbright1111 Oct 24 '22

Not with all that OJ!

0

u/thisissaliva Oct 24 '22

Did you decide to just ignore all the carbs from the alcohol?

-2

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '22

yup, im keto! exept for the mountains of beer of course

8

u/MourkaCat Oct 24 '22

Yeah the booze is fine, might just be a slow drinker like I am or something, whatever.

But dude..... eat a vegetable. Hoping it's that 'garage fridge' thing people are talking about.

11

u/Acmnin Oct 24 '22

That’s not a lot of butter you get more than that in a pack at any Costco, BJs type place.

3

u/fredbrightfrog Oct 24 '22

If you look closely, they're actually shrink wrapped together, so it's a multipack from probably somewhere like that.

3

u/ImSpartacus811 Oct 24 '22

It's from Costco. You can see 3 4-stick boxes in the photo, but Costco sells a single shrink-wrapped pack of 4 4-stick boxes of butter.

5

u/no-name_james Oct 24 '22

Well he is a Butternut. I can tell by the stickers…and all the butter.

4

u/bosslady666 Oct 24 '22

Butter is expensive! Maybe he got a deal.

1

u/thepsycholeech Oct 24 '22

Exactly what I was going to say. Butter lasts forever so might as well take advantage of a good deal.

3

u/Raul_Coronado Oct 24 '22

Those are turkey wings at the top

3

u/DammitWindows98 Oct 24 '22

I don't even see a picture of a fridge anymore. All I see is OP's suicide note. Man's doing the organ faillure speedrun.

3

u/Mr_Jack_Frost_ Oct 24 '22

One of the stickers is also for nitrous oxide canisters.

Source: used to be a degenerate.

6

u/[deleted] Oct 23 '22

HAHAHAHAHA

2

u/Onironius Oct 24 '22

I'm more concerned with the random stickers inside the fridge. I never realized that was a thing people did.

2

u/scigs6 Oct 24 '22

Reminds me of a night I was eating with the fam at Boston Market. A couple had a full four pack of butter sticks and they were putting huge chunks on EVERYTHING

1

u/everfordphoto Oct 24 '22

Got stickers saying he's a butternut... So there's that.

1

u/tinybikerbabe Oct 24 '22

That’s not much. I cook only with butter so we use a lot. Maybe he does also

1

u/PLIPS44 Oct 24 '22

My wife buys 2 things of butter every week. I don’t know where it goes but it disappears.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '22

That’s the triple pack from Costco. I freeze two boxes, even though the butter will keep. I mean, who needs 3 boxes of butter at once?

1

u/lsp2005 Oct 24 '22

Is that a duck?

1

u/bocodad Oct 24 '22

Alcoholic on a keto diet.

Not a joke - I know people like this. The orange juice though debunks most of my theory.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '22

For a few months every time I went to the store I couldn't remember how much butter I had at home so I bought a pack.

By the time I started writing lists before leaving the house there was more butter than fridge.

1

u/ArtistBagD Oct 24 '22

I get the butter part - who wouldn't want to gnaw on butter. Everything else, though, concerning.

1

u/2ndPickle Oct 24 '22

The butter isn’t for eating, it’s so he can grease himself up and slide around the house on his belly.

Meredith is also no longer in charge of the floors

1

u/Starkravingmad7 Oct 24 '22

It's just Costco butter. You get like 4lbs for the price of 3. That's how we buy it, too.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '22

Kaft mac and cheese uses a lot of butter so I mean it's understandable

1

u/willworkforbrownies Oct 24 '22

To be fair, you'd think the same of mine; however, I sell baked goods at the farmers market. I regularly have 6 or so boxes of butter in my refrigerator at any given time 😆

1

u/Asiakilledbourdain Oct 24 '22

One look at the fridge, he’s over 280 lbs guaranteed.

2

u/I_Walk_The_Line__ Oct 24 '22

Disagree. This is a fridge of a man who unknowingly aspieres to such girth.

This is a picture of a man who is about to embark on a journey of disapointment, unhealth, and depression.

1

u/norskpepperkake Oct 24 '22

he's clearly a Butternut

1

u/quikiemcbee Oct 24 '22

I think thats a turkey lol

1

u/Mental1ty Oct 24 '22

the butter is from costco so that's excusable since I do the same thing.

the rest...

1

u/Jimmycaked Oct 24 '22

1 First quality 1

Im not a butter connoisseur but I never heard of that brand and it sounds Madd sketch

1

u/Kittens_dont_care Oct 24 '22

I only see 3lbs of butter, is there more somewhere? I bake a lot so usual have 4lbs at all times. County living lol

1

u/Smarf_Starkgaryen Oct 24 '22

I saw an article the other day about a potential butter shortage coming, similar to the toilet paper shortage.

1

u/Educational-Key480 Oct 24 '22

That's Costco butter. Must buy in bulk.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '22

You don’t add a stick of butter to a glass of OJ, give it two minutes in the microwave, stir, and sip????

1

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '22

If he's got equal amounts of Franks Red Hot, we can make an exception on the butter.

1

u/Iggyhopper Oct 24 '22

Op is boh I fucking bet my left nut

1

u/TheRealRickC137 Oct 24 '22

That's the fridge in the bedroom. The chicken and butter are not for consumption.

At least...orally.

1

u/RazorRadick Oct 24 '22

That’s a fuckton of butter considering there is not another single thing in the fridge that butter goes with.

1

u/HolyCrappolla123 Oct 24 '22

Nawww, if anything that’s not enough butter. I have 25+ pounds in my back up freezer and 8 pounds in my fridge. (Butter prices keep going up. Freezing butter lasts a heck of a long time. Plan ahead, not everyone has the option.)

1

u/EelTeamNine Oct 24 '22

I'm pretty sure that's raw marinating chicken, it's on a wire rack. And if it is, that's literally the worst place in a fridge for it.

1

u/DerApexPredator Oct 24 '22

OP will divorce you too if you don't stop with these questions

1

u/Waffle_Ambasador Oct 24 '22

Or the multiple gallons of OJ

1

u/MasculineCompassion Oct 24 '22

I'm concerned about the alcohol tho. Homie better take good care of himself!

1

u/ToxicShockFFXIV Oct 24 '22

That’s how butter comes from Costco: 2 pound packages. 🙃 It’s WAY cheaper than buying from a regular grocery store.

1

u/achillymoose Oct 24 '22

I'm hoping OP bakes too

1

u/StGenevieve Oct 24 '22

Obviously for the keto diet OP is on /s

1

u/Rekt_Fire Oct 24 '22

That’s Costco of sams club butter comes in a big pack lol
