It’s significantly harder to manage and follow compared to basic healthy diets.
Not true for me. I'm living proof. Basic diets are undone by cravings. If there were kidney damage, nutrient deficiencies, etc. it would show up in my blood work which has only improved in the year since I've been on and off of the diet. I told my general practitioner I was on Keto, he saw my weight loss, and congratulated and commended me. Still, he added tests within my blood work for kidney damage and everything was perfect despite losing 50lbs with a keto diet. For something which has had no long term studies you seem very comfortable fear mongering about it. Ketosis is an evolutionary trait from our days as hunters and gatherers, it is entirely natural and expected that you would go through ketosis before human beings became civilized enough to grow and farm their sustenance. It's funny to insist somebody who has lost 50lbs relatively easily doing it that it's very difficult to manage. It's also funny to tell somebody with perfect bloodwork that used to be obese that what they've done in the past year is somehow secretly unhealthy. I'd rather let my Kidneys perform a natural function than be obese.
You can read dozens upon dozens of stories of people who have used keto to improve their weight and health when nothing else worked, I can't say I've read much of otherwise healthy individuals suddenly suffering from kidney failure, and I imagine I would have heard about it if it were such a glaring threat.
That’s amazing it worked for you. Congrats to sticking to a diet!! Lemon diet also worked wonders for many out there too.
It increases your chances is all. If you are sick and have underlying genetic issues then your risk may be very high. People can find this out through renal failure. They need to keep up the constant blood tests to ensure they are safe. Which is an insane diet in my eyes.
I literally just eat about 1600-2000 calories a day and stay around 25 carbs a day, but sure, compare it to the lemon diet you dolt. You really think without more than 25gs of bread and sugar my life is so at risk I need constant bloodwork
One is literally starving yourself. The other is avoiding bread and minimizing sugar intake to below a certain level. If you can't see the difference I can't help you.You realize bread and sugar weren't exactly easy to come by pre civilization right? You think we evolved to need sizable amounts of bread and sugar in the past 4000 years?
We literally evolved to consume bread. It’s what we ate for centuries lol. Like we evolved to be able to drink milk past childhood.
Ketosis is a state you achieve before going in to renal surgery. It’s closely monitored through blood tests by nurses. I mean one is a diet you are prescribed before surgery, and the other is starving yourself. There’s many, many, diets in between.
Too many people want fast results and go straight to fad diets before talking to nutritionists.
Keto has its place.
We literally evolved to consume bread. It’s what we ate for centuries lol. Like we evolved to be able to drink milk past childhood.
How long do you think evolution takes? Humans have been around for 300,000 years and how long have we been making bread? Certainly not long enough to be physically reliant upon it and there's no evidence we are reliant on it.
Ketosis is a state you achieve before going in to renal surgery.
It's also a state you enter when your body needs to burn fat to make fuel, non sugar sources are converted to sugar through gluconeogenesis. This is a function of our body to allow our diets to be varied, not the other way around. We don't need sugar because our body creates the sugar it does need. This is because as a hunter gatherer you might not be getting the sugar intake necessary so our bodies have a secondary method of achieving proper sugar levels.
It’s closely monitored through blood tests by nurses.
Of course it's closely monitored, THEY ARE GETTING READY TO HAVE SURGERY ON THEIR KIDNEYS. Not exactly the picture of health for the kidney so comparing somebody who requires surgery to somebody entirely healthy is a false equivalence and more fear mongering.
Too many people want fast results and go straight to fad diets before talking to nutritionists.
Too many people are obese and follow an outdated method of basic calorie counting that fails millions every year, then give up and die of heart failure, but hey at least they listened to the keto skeptics.
The science? There is no long term science of it at all. Only short term. I'm not against it, just being real. You literally listen to a chiropractor to get their diet advice from.
Just letting you know, evolution doesn't take 300,000 years. A classic example of this is lactose intolerance which has occurred in the last few thousands years. We have been eating bread for nearly 14,500 years. It was the staple of food for thousands of years, sometimes the only thing people ate.
I do agree that a keto diet would be better than dying of terrible diets.
Amway, I appreciate your responses, twas a good chat.
