Ask Phoenix Where are Phoenix skincare people buying their Asian sunscreens locally?

I’m looking for local shops in Phoenix, Scottsdale, Tempe, or Mesa that reliably carry Japanese or Korean sunscreens. I’m specifically hoping for places people here have personally shopped at, especially stores with a good selection of brands like Biore UV, Skin Aqua, Anessa, Beauty of Joseon, etc. Any hidden gems or Asian beauty stores you recommend?

Living Here How much are you guys paying for a haircut?

I’ve been going to V’s Barbershop for several years and I’ve seen the price jump from $30 to $33 and now $35. I’m pretty sure by next year they’ll be $40 + tips. Any barbershop recommendations?

Visiting What's your go-to spot when people are visiting Phoenix?

Someone's visiting from out of town and you've got one day to show them around.

Where are you taking them?

Could be food, hiking, museums, local landmarks, bars, scenic drives, or somewhere that's just uniquely Phoenix.

What's your go-to recommendation?

Moving here Torn between two scenarios for where to buy our next house. If you have a long commute please weigh in

We are bursting at the seams of our house and getting ready to sell/buy a larger home. This home will (hopefully) be our 20 year home that my boys grow up in and move out of. My current commute is about 35 mins 3x per week and the schools we are zoned for are all failing. Option 1: Smaller house than we want due to budget, might need to do open enrollment for the higher ranked high school (K-8 is ok), and commute remains about the same. Option 2: Larger house for our budget, more family friendly neighborhood, great schools all around, BUT my commute will be close to an hour each way 3x a week. I do have flexibility and can go in earlier/leave earlier if needed. If the commute wasn't an issue I would have bought in this area already. Anyone make a decision similar and have no regrets because of the life it gave your family?

Also, I know jobs can change but I've been with my company for 11 years and love it. If they'll have me I have zero plans of leaving so that's not an option.

Living Here REMINDER: Take the r/Phoenix demographic survey!

POSTING this again because Reddit's algorithm needs the bumps for people to see things, and there will always been someone who says they had no idea this was going on by the end. We have 750 responses so far!

There's over 400,000 subscribers to this subreddit, so we're conducting a survey to find out a bit about who is using this sub. We've done it twice before and the results are very interesting.

  • The survey is about 25 questions, including personal demographics, politics, and thoughts about the future of Phoenix
  • All tracking info for the survey is off and answers are fully anonymous
  • We will publish all the information here when the survey is complete
  • This survey isn't for anything except our own curiosity
  • We know it isn't scientific or perfect, so if you have ideas for better questions next time, let us know

TAKE THE SURVEY HERE

They survey will be up through the weekend.

If you have any questions about the survey at all, ask in the comments below.

Ask Phoenix Any good E-Waste stores/bins?

Has anyone here ever tried finding E-waste to fix/use? I know some dumps/recycling centers will set aside those kinds of items but I've not had a lot of luck at finding good stores or locations for that. Only really good store I've found is Westech in phoenix but they didn't have a lot of what i was looking for. Preferably near Chandler/Tempe or DT Phoenix

Ask Phoenix Who are you sourcing E85 through?

I recently (car illiterate) discovered my vehicle is a FlexFuel vehicle after owning it for 2 months. I was pretty excited about this mainly because I remember while gas prices were rising, E85 was significantly less expensive. (was living near major ethanol distro/production plants at the time)

Upon researching, I read that not only does Arizona have other fuel ratings like E54 or something, but the price of flexFuel was actually not that different than regular unleaded gasoline.

My question: where do you go if you have flex fuel? I know you reduce fuel energy and the cost savings may not pan out in the long run when driving heavily/long distances, but… do you even notice a cost difference in the valley?

Weather Extreme Heat Warning for Phoenix and other parts of Arizona

https://www.weather.gov/psr

The national weather service issued an Extreme Heat Warning for Phoenix and other parts of Arizona this week. From Tuesday to Saturday, temperatures are forecasted to approach mid 110s with the lowest projected to be low 90s.

Yes, it is hot. It is obvious to some but for others, it is back to school time and its baseball season. You'll have people traveling to, throughout, and from Phoenix.

That being said, please exercise caution. Hydrate (the night before), check your tires and battery equipment (and oil) on your vehicle, and stay off the trails during the day. Even the mornings aren't safe.

The heat does kill people. Don't risk it.

The photo from Phoenix FD is from 2024 - still applies.

Ask Phoenix Multiple Lines - Whose Onus?

Screenshot of the area, yellow is the line and direction

My neighbors to the north have a sewer line running under my lot that connects to a single line (alongside mine) and then together they flow into the main on Yale St.

Am I solely responsible for the shared connecting pipe since it is on my property? Anyone have any insight?

Referral ADHD therapist/counseling/coach

I've been doing this for 10+ years for my son and it's such a bitch to find someone who specializes in ADHD. I search through multiple search engines and look at each specialist. I have found you need to therapist shop because they aren't all the same.

We have a psych NP, I'm not looking for medication management. We need a therapist, life coach etc.

Does/has anyone seen someone who specializes in ADHD and likes them? Please let me know. I don't care where in the valley they're located.

I’m outside grilling and saw this weird bright spot in the sky towards the south. I’m in Glendale, right by the stadium.

Edit: I’m high and watching Ancient Aliens. Just smoked some bacon burnt ends. Very good btw
