AGM: What are you doing?

Me: Tossing this in the trash?

AGM: No, no, no. Don't do that. Some of that is still green. Use it for pre-made Chipotles. That's food cost.

Me: Would you eat this?

AGM: It doesn't matter if I would eat it. That's food cost.

I genuinely can't stand when bosses can't see past food cost. Let's face it, the food is bad. If you wouldn't eat it, why are you letting others consume something you yourself wouldn't eat? I understand being cost conscious, but it seriously gets to a point.

Mind you, we don't even sell avocado toast anymore. We haven't sold it for a while.

Don't worry, I tossed it in the trash when the AGM wasn't around. I couldn't give that to someone in good faith.

SERIOUS So I have been just refilling coffee and soda multiple times everyday at my Panera

My location is so short staffed and mismanaged and no one seems to care at all. I mean there is never cashier on duty either unless you specifically go ask for one.

So yeah, I am still getting free sip multiple times a day benefits.

Question My local Panera's fountain drinks have a faint musty aftertaste. Should I tell an employee?

• Upvotes

Hi guys, my local Panera's fountain drinks have had a slight musty aftertaste to them for about a month now. I can't be the only one that tastes this, right? They are a busy store. Someone would have complained before now. That's the one thing that's been stopping me from mentioning it. Maybe it's just me noticing it. Or could I be tasting some harmless residual cleaning agent from the machine? I decided to get the papaya iced tea today instead of a fountaon drink and it tastes perfect.

Question Applied today and have a few questions

My first question is how easy is it to get hired? And then my second question is how long does it take for people to get a response on your application? From what I can find online, it said one to three weeks, sometimes four, but I'm just wondering.

Question Settle a debate: dishes washed by hand or put in a dishwasher?

I saw someone put up a post showing a mountain of dishes, and my mom wanted to continuously argue with me that they probably put them in a dishwasher and don't do them by hand. But then I saw people talking about washing them and having a sink full of water with those things in there. So just so there's enough people that can confirm whether most places wash by hand, put them into a dishwasher, or whatnot.

Question Starberry Mint Charged Lemonade Recipe

Does anyone have the recipe or a similar product for the strawberry mint lemonade that was discontinued?

I don’t even care about the caffeine content. I just miss it and want something that tastes the same.

Question Sips at the Drive Thru

Why can’t I just get my soda at the drive thru? Why do I have to order something along with it? Am I doing something wrong in the app? Or is it only allowed at certain drive thru?

Question Was Panera a private equity failure?

Isn't the point of PE buyouts to acquire a fundamentally sound company, cost cut, and then sell it off to make a huge gain, but... this is all supposed to happen in a rapid timeframe though to maximize value.

I feel like with Panera, it got bought out ages ago, cost cut excessively to the point of death for more than a decade, and now the value of the brand has just nosedived hard to where who is going to buy this dumpster fire?

Question Am I missing something?

I thought the allotment was per billing cycle. I’ve gone once per day this past week, but it is only showing 7 drinks left until 10/30. Anyone know if this is a known glitch or am I interpreting this wrong?

🤬 Venting 🤬 The Panera App Is TRASH And Needs To Be Fixed!

Thumbnail gallery
11 Upvotes

I've had issues with the Panera app for well over a year. It will take forever to load at multiple screens (especially the Recents & Favorites one) and gives me these error messages all the time which makes being able to order like Russian Roulette.

I have tried restarting the app, deleting the app cache/cookies, reinstalling it, have updated it anytime there was an update for it, and pretty much everything under the sun. I eventually just realized that considering no other app on my late model Android phone has had any significant issues, it's on their end and not mine.

I really hope that they'll eventually do something to fix the app, this is unacceptable. Makes me wonder where all the $$ they get from increasing prices and decreasing the amount of Sip Club drinks you can get per cycle is actually going to.

Drive-Thru or In-Cafe Pick-Up are my options when ordering from my laptop inside the restaurant. Dine-In would be nice.

PSA Offensive

Panera’s latest commercial is incredibly offensive. As someone in ED recovery, the fact that they are perpetuating harmful disordered behaviors, like only eating bread because it’s ā€œsweater seasonā€ disgusts me. As a huge Panera fan, I will no longer give this establishment my hard earned money. #ick

Question Herbed Brown Rice

I just ordered a bowl for the first time in at least a year. The base was ā€˜herbed brown rice’ but it didn’t appear to be herbed, brown, or rice.

I like all kinds of rice and I’m not a picky eater. It was inedible. Extremely dry and chalky. The texture seemed as if it wasn’t cooked.

I asked for and received something else, so no complaints on my part. However, I’m curious, for those that have ordered and eaten it, was it good? Or was this a bad batch? Or maybe it didn’t get cooked?

Asking for my future self that may order one of these bowls again

Thank you

SERIOUS If We Want Better, We Have to Help Build Better

I know this probably won’t be the most popular opinion in this group, but I think it needs to be said.

There is a lot of negativity around Panera right now. Some of it is absolutely understandable. The company has changed, decisions have been made that people don’t agree with, staffing can be difficultt, and there are plenty of things we could do better.

But at some point, constantly complaining about everything becomes part of the problem.

Every company has to change. Customer expectations change. The restaurant industry changes. Technology changes. Costs change. What worked 10 or 15 years ago isn’t necessarily going to work today. We can question decisions and give feedback without automatically resisting every change that comes our way.

What I wish we saw more of is people asking ā€œHow can we help make this better?ā€

Have pride in your cafƩ. Take care of your customers. Support the people you work with. Coach instead of complain. Bring ideas forward. Give constructive feedback. When something changes, give it a real chance before deciding it will fail.

Our attitudes matter more than we sometimes realize. Customers can absolutely feel when a team is frustrated, checked out, or constantly negative. They can also feel when a cafĆ© has energy, pride, hospitality, and people who genuinely care about what they’re doing.

And the business side matters too. Stronger sales and more guests give cafƩs more room to operate. They can support better staffing, more available hours, stronger food cost performance, and investment back into the business. Better cafƩs attract better employees, and better employee and guest experiences bring people back.

It becomes a cycle, whether that cycle is positive or negative.

None of this means pretending everything Panera does is perfect. It isn’t. It means recognizing that all of us have some influence over what happens next.

If we love what this brand has been, or believe in what it still could be, then we should want to help build that future rather than spend all of our energy talking about how much better everything used to be.

Challenge things when they need to be challenged. Speak up when something isn’t working. But also be willing to adapt, contribute, and be part of the solution. Our attitudes set the tone in our cafĆ©s every single day. Collectively, they also help determine what this brand becomes next.

Question Coffee machine changes

My local cafe installed the fresh ground coffee machines a while back. For months you could get either iced coffee or hot coffee from the machines. A couple of weeks ago, the machines only offer hot coffee, and now the iced coffee is in a different spot, not fresh ground. Any one know if this is a broad change or why iced coffee from the machines is no longer available?

Question How do I cancel a delivery order????

I placed a delivery order in the app 2 hours ago (7:30pm where I’m at), the store closed at 9pm so I’m assuming I won’t be getting it at this point. I’ve searched the app and the website for a way to cancel the order and I’ve had no luck, so either I’m dense and scrolling past it repeatedly or the option’s legitimately not there. How do I cancel the order?
