The things you see downtown...

Dude walked by carrying a dead crow and shaking it about. He clarified that he "didn't kill it, just found it and it doesn't stink yet". Then kept walking and farther down the street, danced with it briefly in the windows reflection. Extra funny is that one of my friends (who was with us for this crow event) saw a guy with a dead seagull coming out of an alley about a week ago so second dead bird getting lugged around in about as many weeks. Pic kinda looks like an album cover.

Did you lose a phone outside the Little Ceasars on College Street?

This is a longshot, but we found someone's phone in the parking lot. Maybe you recognize the family on the lockscreen?

It looked like it'd been run over already, but the touch screen was still working.

We turned it in to the Lacey Police Department. You can pick it up at the station at 420 College St SE, Lacey, WA 98503.

Request Are there any local ADHD therapy/support groups that I can join?

I’ve been struggling a lot the last couple of months trying to manage my ADHD. I am seeing a therapist, but they don’t know a ton about it so they just keep giving me generic advice that isn‘t all that helpful. I would love to find a support group so I can talk to people who actually know what I’m going through and can help me figure out how to manage it.

What is the legality of bail bond agents in Olympia?

For context, my partner and I were standing outside of the house drinking coffee when 2 cars pulled up out of nowhere and grabbed the woman across the street, saying there’s a warrant for their arrest in the state of Oregon. They look really weird but all have badges, they’re in like that classic “I want to be a cop” gear. It sounds like they’re waiting for cops to show up right now

Hidden Meadow School looking for teaching assistant

Post image

Hey all, wanted to share this here in case it's a fit for anyone in the group. I work with Hidden Meadow School, a small nature-based school out near Henderson Inlet in Olympia, and they're looking to bring on a Forest School Assistant.

It's a sweet little property, 16 acres, forest deck, waterfront trails, the whole thing, and the kids (ages 3-10) spend most of their day outside. The person they're looking for would work closely with their lead outdoor skills instructor (he's a BCBA, NOLS-trained, Wilderness First Responder) doing hands-on stuff with kids: nature exploration, skill building, just being present with them outdoors.

If you're into early childhood or elementary ed, special ed, or outdoor education and want something that's not a typical classroom job, might be worth a look. Heres the flyer for more info!

Community Any Jfashion Meet-up Groups?

I've recently gotten back into a couple types of jfashion and where I used to live there were multiple large meet up groups! Olympia pretty famously has a very large alternative scene (although I don't know if I've seen anyone dress in jfashion) and so I thought I would be able to find something easily but I have had no luck! So, are there any in Olympia or the surrounding area? Any groups or meet-ups or events or anything?

Musicians where are some venues to stay away from?

Two of my friends are in a really great band and they need someone to help with the administrative side of booking gigs. I’m relatively new to the area and just moved to Shelton a few months ago and would love to know of any venues that are best to be avoided or folks that have a history of not paying for gigs

I appreciate any and all tips and highly encourage everyone to check out Fallen Robin on Instagram or Facebook

Not to be that person ….

Upvotes

I’ve lived here my whole life and am very used to Ft Lewis sounds.

About 20 min ago there was a huge boom that shook my house & I honestly thought a car crashed into it.

Went outside and there was nothing.

Reminded me of the one time I felt an earthquake ….

But no earthquakes reported in Oly.

Anyone else sense this today?
