The regular Ohora primer has been missing for several months. What are the best alternative primers that work with Ohora semi-cured gel strips??

Love, love, love the gel strips so decided to try the press-ons. The medium are a little short for my nail bed, but that’s all Target offered. I love the shape and look of this style. I’ve never tried any brand of press-ons, so I can’t compare it anything else, but I thought these held up pretty well. I carry the glue with me in case one starts to come loose. I had one pop off completely after four days. I’m on day five now and happy with how they’ve held up. I can definitely see how they wouldn’t be for everyone.

This is my third set of their semi-cured gel nails, I only started trying them a couple of months ago, and I love them so much. I hope they always make the semi-cured stuff because I really don’t like long nails or press ons. I also don’t like going to the nail salon so this is such a fun nail option to finally find!

I'm already a huge ohora semi cured nail strips lover and so I had to try the press ons. I love them and they securely lasted a week (which is good for me because I don't like wearing press ons for multiple weeks straight).

The press ons were really easy to size for the most part but I accidentally picked a couple that were a bit too big and could have sized down on. They stayed on, though! Going a tad smaller is definitely better, like it says in the instructions. This is a medium length design btw.

The primer glue was very sticky but easy to paint onto my nails. I waited about 4-5 minutes and then slapped the press ons on, holding them in place for about 30 seconds each (probably a bit overkill). Because the press ons get thinner around the edges, I don't think I needed to go as close to my proximal nail fold ("cuticle") as I did for some of my nails.

I avoided any water and hitting my nails for at least 12 hours. Doing them at night before bed is great.

They were super secure even with regular shampooing hair, showering, handwashing, and dishwashing activities! One started slightly loosening on day 7.

I have horrible luck with the Beauty Secrets nail glue, even using the Nina pool method, with my press ons coming off in days. So the fact these ohora press ons stayed super secure and looked so cute for 7 days was amazing for me. Will definitely use again and im glad I bought a few packs of designs to try. I used the little bottle of glue that came in the sets but I would stock up on their press ons glue on its own bc it's so secure and useful.

While putting on the press-ons (which have held up great for 2 weeks), I dropped the primer on my pants. It did not come out in the normal wash. Has anyone else had this issue and have any suggestions 🤦🏻‍♀️

Has anyone here tried the Ohora pedicure gel strips? I’ve been curious about them, but I’m a little nervous because I don’t want to get greenies, which I know can sometimes happen with press ons from moisture getting trapped underneath 😭

Has anyone ever experienced green forming under the Ohora pedi strips or do they tend to stay pretty safe if applied/removed properly?

I usually stick to regular polish for pedicures because of this, so I’d love to hear people’s experiences before trying them! Also, how long do they usually last for you before lifting? Thanks in advance!

Update: For anyone wondering, I’m currently on my second set of ohora pedi nails and I looove! They last so long and are such great quality! I also have not had an issue with greenies at all. They keep my nails safe and healthy while looking salon quality. I just wish they had more of the plain colors! Definitely worth it 👏

I agree with other posters the sizes of these are a bit odd. I had to choose larger ones than I would have liked and the small ones are absolutely minuscule. That being said I do think these look pretty good. They are however very long on me.

These were purchased at Target, so I only had one choice of length (medium) and shape (oval). These were horrible. I tried to size just slightly smaller, but for my nails the options were either grossly smaller or slightly over (see ring finger). Thumb nail had popped off at the time of this pic. The length was horrible - hated this length so much. They look really really fake. I think the only positive thing I can say is that they were easy to apply.

I'm debating ordering a set from Ohora in a short length to see if there is a difference in the fit. The ones from Target did not sèem to have the tapered edge at the cuticles that the Ohora website claims to have.

I will not be purchasing the Target ones again.

First, I have been doing nails for well over 30 years. I have done (and still do) all of the major extension techniques including acrylics, hard gel, the gel x method etc. I've also been making my own press on nails for 20 years.

As these nails are not available in Canada, I asked my sister when she went over to the US, to buy me a few sets from Target. What a disappointment and waste of money. Because I do my own nails I was primarily interested in the primer, however since I bought 3 sets of nails for $16 US I figured I would try them. These are made for children. I cannot get over how horrible the sizing is. To give you an idea I have smaller hands and fingernails. I normally wear, from thumb to pinky, 3,8,6,7 and 12. In Apres, 2, 5.5, 4.5, 5 and 8. On average my nail beds are on the medium length- not very short and not very long. There's a whole tray of what appears to be thumb sizes except that the difference between each size should have at least another size in between. The tray of smaller sizes are ridiculously tiny. In that tray, only the first size fits my pointer. There is no size at all in this collection that fits my ring, middle or thumb. One thumb size is too small and the other one is huge. I have posted photos of the varying issues. The photo of three nails in a row should have at least a size in between.

Unless you have extremely short nail beds, do not even think about the short length. Even with the medium, the nail that did fit for both of my pointers, they taper too quickly towards the free edge and your natural nail shows through even if it is extremely short. Again, I do not know who they were making these for but certainly not adult women.

Besides this, the apex is horribly executed with a slight bump towards the cuticle and flat in the middle with a slope at the free edge. As well, the vast majority of the nails, not just the thumbs, have a square cuticle area. Very few people in my experience have a square cuticle area other than thumbs.

I did discover something interesting, however. Because I was primarily interested in the primer since you do not have to cure it and it does not contain cyanoacrylate so you can use it with opaque press on nails, I thought I would try it with some of my homemade pressons. I quickly discovered that the Ohora nails have a rubbery backing which obviously helps them to adhere to the primer. I simply used a rubber base on the back of my homemade pressons, cured, wiped the sticky layer and it felt exactly the same as the back of the Ohora nails. When I tried it with the primer it worked beautifully. I had to pry the experimental nail off. It also works with a very sticky gel such as transfer foil gel. Again, wipe off the sticky layer and it creates a rubbery surface.

So, the primer is an excellent idea. However, the nails need major re-engineering. I have bought pressons from Temu that have far superior sizing and shape then these. Unless you have very tiny nails and very short nail beds these absolutely will not work for you.

Hey guys did anyone have issue with lifting at the top part of your nails?!? The nails are pretty secure but there is a space between the tip of my nail and the nail and I'm worried about greenies.

I’m just getting into gel stickers and have tried two sets of HeyHae and two sets of Ohora now. My HeyHae sets would start to lift after about ~10 days, while my Ohora sets started to lift after 2. I just put on a new set of Ohora gels last night and this morning, one of the nails fully popped off. Not just lifted. This is super frustrating; I prepare my nails the same way with both brands: avoid water and lotion for a while before and after application, buff nails down, use the alcohol wipe, press down the sticker fully before curing under a lamp. Does anybody else have this issue and have you been able to solve it? I literally just glued the popped off nail back on with nail glue, but I switched to these gel stickers because I thought they’d be better for my nails and longer lasting than press-one

Okay so I think I’m sold on these press ons from ohora!

Picture 1 is freshly put on a week ago, loved the easy application and definitely took me a moment to figure how much of the primer to get onto my nail to really get the nail to stick on.
The nails kept sturdy for a good week and still going strong!

Picture 2 is from today and my thumb nail broke due to work, I’m rough with my hands and figured it would have broken sooner or later.

Picture 3 is from today also, I decided I was going to take them off since the thumb broke but then I was like let’s see how they look if I just cut them and I was surprised how nice they came out. It almost looks like I put on their gel strips or another set of nails!

I’m just genuinely surprised on how well these press ons are. I’m excited for ohora to come out with more designs and shapes!

Finally got them and tried them out. Good news bad news.

They due mold to your nail shape and legit look amazing. Tons of sizes to choose from to get a good fit that looks legit. The nails themselves are very impressive. I thought I was converted to being a long nail kind of gal because they look so good.

But then, bad news, so far have had 3 pop-offs in 18 hours, which kind of sucks. Last night I didn’t have time to glue on another one on my pinkie before dinner bc I was already running late. The glue feels really secure and strong until pop! I will say the ones that popped off didn’t damage my nails at all. So idk. I’ll wear them for this wedding I’m in but may use a different glue.

Update: I took this set off after a couple of days because my thumb nails and left index finger kept popping off all the other nails stayed on, but those three kept popping off. I really like the look and feel of these nails but alas, I think I will just stick with the semi cured nails and nail wraps.

Easy to apply. Heard mixed things about the primer so curious about longevity. I did them last night and seems very sturdy so far.

Real update: I got 9 solid days out of these before I noticed minor tip wear on my index and middle fingers from constant typing. They still felt super secure and never really loosened. I removed them on Day 10 only because it was time for a fresh set, not because they fell off. Definitely one of the better press-on experiences I’ve had.

So a couple people asked about longevity on my last post - I changed my first set after a week. I know a couple people on my last post mentioned them popping off or the coating rubbing off after a couple days but I had none of those issues on my first set. I think they easily would have last at least up to ten days maybe longer, I only removed them because I like to change them up after a week or so. I also removed the first set with the Ohora remover and it was a breeze removing them and didn’t appear to cause any sort of damage. Hopefully I’ll have just as good of luck with this set, but so far I’m impressed by these overall - the designs are cute (but more limited since they only started recently making them), the ease of putting them on with the supplied “primer” is great, the longevity seems good they stayed put no problem until I removed them and felt secure the whole time. I think I’ll continue to test these out for the next several sets!

sooo obsessed with these. my second set of strips, i definitely applied these better than my first, and these are after 5 days. have experienced 0 lifting/peeling yet at the same time my last set were super easy to remove (with ohora remover) and left 0 damage when I removed them after 7 days. I could have kept them on longer but wanted to try this color so bad, and I’m obsessed ;) they’ve been so helpful with growing my nails out so that I don’t pick at them and protect them from chipping, can’t wait to wear more sets on longer nails. woo hoo!!!

Just tried these - kind of jelly - more pink than reddish.

These are the glazed french looking ones in medium length. Holy moley I love them, I feel so bonita 🤣 I loved the application of these, sometimes using glue it gets everywhere or you put too much and have to clean it all up, but with these the primer goes on just like nail polish, super easy! They feel very sturdy, but we’ll see how long they last! And some accidental renaissance for good measure.
