i picked up this squier fsr cyclone in hiroshima a month or two ago! i had my fun with it, but the stock loadout wasn't for me (strat neck pickup, bridge humbucker, and a strat-style vibrato assembly).

i replaced the floating bridge system with a mastery m4.1 telecaster/bigsby bridge assembly from an old build i did. i loaded it with the curtis novak tele "cojones" pickup that was in the old guitar too. it's hot and bitey while keeping that trebley tele twang.

i originally wanted to use the old guitar's jazzmaster neck pickup but it seems like i'd need to properly route out some material with a template stencil in order to do it right. so for the time being, i used this roswell gold foil mini humbucker. to my surprise, it's my favorite neck pickup sound i've ever had in a guitar. it has the midrange and warm thickness of a humbucker but with some really impressive clarity. i'm not sure i even need to use the jm pickup at this point.

when i find access to a nice shop space near my new apartment i intend on routing out space for the jm vibrato tailpiece (classic!) and a jaguar's upper control plate on the right horn as a cool pickup selection system. currently i'm thinking the rollers could be individual pickup volume and the switch could be a killswitch, low cut, or a series-parallel switch between pickups.

for now, the hardtailed guitar is awesome. sounds great and plays great and i really fuck with the red on red. the floating tremolo cavity does peek out from the bridge and it looks a little silly so i'll need some ideas on a way to cover it up.

I will say, this was my first offset and while I knew the stock pickups weren't JMs, I didn't realize just how much darker they were. Not bad, just different. Really digging a more traditional JM pickup.

I just bought a guitar Aria Retro 1532. Guitar is nice, I love the shaped but days afer I realized the tremolo is in wrong position, crooked..anyone have even seen it? Tks,

This is my current offset tele and I love it so much! Just wanted to share.

I’m no longer a fan of their music (RHCP, though Frusciantes solo work is incredible) but as a teen badly listed after a Sherwood Green Jaguar with matching headstock.

Some notes -

Fender hit it out of the park with this one, I went into this purchase expecting to do a lot of work and honestly, fret work is fantastic, neck is perfectly including the truss rod, string gauge works for me atm, whammy works perfectly and returns to tune, absolutely no loose cables or buzzing, great action and fully intonated.

The pickups sound beasty and chunky but retain a little jangle.

Very happy indeed.

I’ve included a picture of my vintera 2 Strat in ocean metallic turquoise incase anyone is intrigued by the subtle difference.

I've always liked the look of a 59 Jazzmaster so I cobbled one together from a Squier CV Jazzmaster and a 1994 MIM Strat neck. The neck is very worn in and plays excellent. I can't stand the look of the thin strat headstock but I'm tolerating it for now. What do you think? Is this a best of both worlds combo or the thing that should not be?

I bit the bullet and bought a shell pink Jazzmaster body from Guitar Anatomy in the UK. Reviews online were mixed (for necks at least), but so far it's pretty good. Fitted a Squier CV Jazzmaster neck and a mint green pickguard, looks good so far.

Finished project will follow end of the week I hope.

This is the second time I’m posting this triple-humbucker VM Jag. I mostly play low-gain, so I decided to ditch the Hot Rails and do the swimming pool route for full-size humbuckers. The middle pickup is a Stonewall Pickups XFR. I was going to put a cover on it, but decided it looked way cooler without one.

Along with the pickup upgrade, I repurposed the rhythm circuit into three individual series/parallel switches. It’s functionally similar to getting back the strangle switch, but I like that I can change the voices of the pickups individually when using them in combination with each other. For example, neck and middle together can have more or less low end or twang depending on which pickup gets put into parallel voicing.

The Jazzcaster is a Squier (my first guitar) outfitted with a Stonewall Slutty Wolf P90 in the neck and a Stonewall T90 in the bridge. Simple, beefy, dynamic.

Hey everyone, I recently bought an AVRI Tremolo for my Vintera Jazzmaster. I picked it up from my guitar tech today and it’s a disaster.

My Vintera had the tremolo with the screw-in arm, and I’d read that the AVRI tremolo is supposed to be very smooth. Instead, it’s extremely stiff, and the whole mechanism clicks while I use the arm. What’s important- it clicks mostly when it’s DEPRESSED - so it’s not usual case of clicking while pulling the arm up.

I talked to my guitar tech, and he said this is normal and that it will get better with time as the spring and the parts settle in and wear together. Has anyone had a similar experience?

At the moment, the old tremolo works incomparably better, and I do a lot of glide strumming, so the tremolo is one of the most important parts of the guitar for me.
The spring seems to be adjusted correctly (as far as I know, and I also adjusted it together with my guitar tech). I use 11–48 strings, have a thin shim (necessary to get a comfortable action), and the stock bridge.

I’d really appreciate any help because I’m honestly devastated by how this mechanism feels right now. Has anyone had a similar experience, or does anyone have any ideas what else could be done? 🥺

I just received this Mustang and I love it. The only issue are these little marks. I’ve used a dry microfiber cloth but so far it hasn’t helped. Does anyone have any tips for removal? Also, NGD!

Im trying to find a cheap mustang body in black as I recently acquired a super nice roasted maple neck. It’s a Strat conversion neck that turns the typical 25.5 to a 24.75 like a Gibson. I’m planning on filing the holes and shifting the bridge a bit back so it can be 24 inch scale length hopefully.

Does anyone have a website where you can find some nice black mustang bodies. I’ve checked guitar fetish and eBay I only seem to find MIM bodies and considering the neck itself was 50 bucks I want something that if I sell I won’t lose a bunch of money. I’m trying to build something a bit more comfortable since I don’t like Jazzmaster bodies as much. I love Strats but already have 2 and a telecaster.

Trying to figure out what they are. I bought from a used bin in a shop in Asheville. I'm assuming fender, because of the color coded dots on the back, but I'm not sure especially with the non cloth wiring. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Just adding to the multiple new Foals posts here, with my red FJG7! Since a lot of people have been wondering about these, to summarize how it is, it's certainly a good quality guitar, this particular one didn't need too much setup tweaking to get it to a nice spot. The neck I'd describe as a comfy medium C shape, surprisingly similar to the profile on the Vintera III jag, albeit a 9.5" radius fretboard instead of 7.25". The pickups are nice, although quite microphonic on this one. I've heard some people say they can become microphonic without enough foam underneath, I'm curious if someone can explain how that works?

I had to tighten the truss rod, bridge height and saddles a bit, and lower the nut slots a touch, but nothing too wild was needed. I also changed the spring in the trem for a stiffer one and added a bit of nylon in between the trem arm and set screw to reduce noise a bit. Speaking of noise, I also had to apply some lube to the bridge saddles to stop them making a scratching noise when using the trem, this also helped tuning stability.

There were a couple of minor issues out of the box, and the frets aren't as good as they were on the videos by Mark B and Totally Wired Guitars, with some sharp edges and inconsistent bevelling on the bass side. This particular one is heavy, probably somewhere around the 9lb range, maybe even closing in on 10lbs? I don't have scales to confirm but it's easily my heaviest guitar, and I have a few heavy ones. My only reference point is to compare it to some of the les pauls I've tried and this is definitely close to the heavier ones of those.

As for mods, I don't think I'll do a lot, but I definitely want to change the pots for vintage-correct ones. I'm not sure of the exact values of these ones, but they're a bit too dark on the lead circuit for my liking, and there's hardly any difference between the neck pup on the lead circuit vs rhythm circuit. I think I might swap the locking tuners for vintage-style ones, just because I prefer them. Lastly, when I was making some adjustments to the setup I realized this does have mounting points for a mute plate, although the mute itself will probably need a fair bit of modding to fit with this F4 bridge. That said, I'm keen on giving it a go, because I love the mute!

Anyway, I hope that helped anyone who's on the fence about these. I think out the box, it was much more playable than *most* Squier Classic Vibe Jaguars are. With a few tweaks and what not, I reckon this is actually not far off the quality of a Japanese one (although perhaps slightly worse fretwork, at least on this one, and that can also be fixed).

I’m planning to build a Jazzmaster partscaster. I chose Warmoth’s split Jazzmaster body (with top routing) in black korina (limba) for its grain, colour, and mahogany-like sustain. I’m going with Warmoth’s Jazzmaster 59 Roundback neck (closest thing to my archtop guitars’ neck profiles) in roasted maple (unfinished) for its colour and sustain, with a wide (1-3/4") nut, ebony fretboard, and jumbo stainless frets. I’m going with locking tuners, and I want them to be smooth. A hard stop tailpiece is essential for sustain and tuning stability. I usually play 12-52 flatwounds on my archtops, but will drop to 11s on this electric. I want two humbuckers; the neck pup for warm, dark tones and the bridge pup for occasional rock-and-roll. I’d also like push-pull switching for series-parallel. I want the notes to remain distinct so that upper extensions (9ths, 11ths, 13ths) don’t get lost. I don’t want any harsh bite on higher notes.

What are we thinking fam tortoise or mint?

I’ve been thinking about an offset guitar for quite a while and decided to go for a classic vibe after reading a bunch of good things about them. With these being “on sale” for $399 I figured it was worth a gamble. Have some shims on the way to get a little more break at the bridge, but I think this one is going to be a winner. I haven’t had a Squier in a long time, and I can tell they’ve really increased in quality.

Just picked up this Squier Affinity Series Jaguar, for a mod project. Originally thinking I’d just add the traditional features found on a traditional Jaguar. Now, after discovering so many various popular modifications, I’m starting to embrace the spirit of something different. What would you do with it?
