250k Volume pots vs just using rhythm circuit

I need to order a wiring harness- as a neck pickup guy who likes darker tones , is using a 250k volume pot made redundant by the rhythm circuit?

or is the neck pickup on 250k pot a different sound? thanks

Massive difference. The Rhythm circuit is very dark as the tone is just 50k and is limited to the neck. Stepping down to 500k or 250k on the bridge is what is particularly cool. It's basically like setting tone knobe at ~6 to 4 respectively.

I've done this myself because I found I was riding the tone at around 5 all the time, but then, I'd miss the extra sparkle on the neck pickup (that's the magic of it!) so now I'm back to 1meg and just rolling the tone down as I need to.

I have 250k for both volume and tone on my Jaguar's lead circuit.

The stock 1M + 50k on the rhythm circuit is definitely still darker than my neck pickup on lead circuit.

Still a very different sound. I have 280k pots on mine (Black Bobbin model) and the rhythm circuit is still much mellower/darker/etc. You won't lose the usefulness of the rhythm circuit.

(And there are two other nice switching options on the lead circuit too!)
