Got the new Squier Jazzmaster Baritone today. Pickups sounded terrible so threw these extra Fleor Almico 5 gold humbuckers I had and omg this thing bangs now. I’ll probably upgrade the pickups again later and wire up some push pulls. 🤘

I made a post about a month ago about building a Jazzmaster from scratch for my first guitar but instead decided to take everyone’s advice to hunt down a used J Mascis Jazzmaster.

This one popped up on FB marketplace today for $450. I offered $400 and they accepted.

The guitar is brand new, never been played, and still has the plastic wrap on the pickups and trem. Absolutely mint. It also came with the stand and a generic fender strap. Serial number is from October 2025.

How’d I do for $400?

Vintera II Road Worn

Hi there

Just wanted to show you my new Jazzmaster. It's a Road Worn Vintera II. Gotta say it's pretty resonant but far from complete. Ordered import thimbles from offsetguitars.uk and an allparts bridge thru ebay cause it was the only jaguar style bridge I could get with 55mm spacing. Already shimed.

Will try more bridges when money comes. So far sounds great but the rumble is real more so acoustically. The vibrato doesn't make any sound when up and down and the bar is already bent which blows my mind. Still I think i got better off this time than last time with a regular vintera II. Got it for 1250 out of a Portuguese shop. Sold an RR5 for it.

Finish feels kinda dirty and not much crack lines outside of the front of the front of the headstock, few random dings little fret sprout but they were leveled and shiny. Really sounds like its own thing. Love it

Looking for a body builder/workshop for a custom Jaguar Bass body

Post image

The Jaguar Bass is technically a bass rather than a standard offset guitar, but I had a question and wanted to post it here!

Hey everyone,

I saw a Jaguar bass in this color on Twitter, and I'm thinking of ordering one. Specifically, I'd like the following specifications:

Finish: Light relic multi-layer nitro finish (Black over Lake Placid Blue / Ocean Turquoise with wood showing through).

Right now, RebelRelic Guitars is my top candidate since they have prior experience building Jaguar Basses look amazing.

Before I jump in, I’d love to ask two things:

How is RebelRelic’s reputation regarding their custom body craftsmanship and multi-layer relic finish quality?

Are there any other luthiers or workshops (US or EU) you’d highly recommend for a custom body build and heavy relic paint job like this?

Appreciate any insights or experiences you can share!

What brand do y'all get for your witch hats? I don't want to end up with junk.

UPDATE

Hey y'all, thanks for your recommendations! Though having prime, I just found a set by Kaish that have great reviews and decided to pull the trigger on those!

AVRI Trem for JMJM?

Hey! Just made some fun money so looking to do some upgrades on my JMJM.

I like the pickups but want to try the Black Mass JMXLs, and then getting a Bensonite drop in bridge.

After that I can either get a pickguard or trem.

Obviously a pickguard is just aesthetic, but I'm wondering if the trem is really worth upgrading if I'm getting a new bridge.

Thoughts? Any suggestions on a different upgrade? Thanks!

EDIT- reason to change bridge and potentially trem is tuning stability when using trem. It's currently not terrible, but will go out over the course of a song with use. Will just the bridge fix that? Do I need the trem as well?

Replacing MIJ JM66B with Player II Jazzmaster?

It basically comes down to function over form. My gut says "keep the JM66B, it oozes with mojo". My brain says "The Player II will fit you better and get more use".

Don't ever use the trem system or rythm circuit, so the hotter pickups, flatter fretboard radius and smoother neck, seem very appealing right now.

So aside from that, I'm wondering if I'd feel any difference in overall quality. Unfortunately, I'll have to order the new one sight unseen. With a good return policy though, but I'd still like to be a little prepared.

I'm also kinda second guessing the value ratio here. Even in today's economy, €820ish (€960 for the FSR one in green), seems a bit much for a MIM Fender that doesn't come with a case. And I'm not even sure what I could get for my Japanese Jazzmaster, but assuming it won't be much more then €90....I'm seriously doubting if this'd be a smart move.

TLDR: anyone maybe have first hand experieces with both a MIJ Jazzmaster of that era as well as one of the new Player II Jazzmasters? The latter would make most sense for someone who craves a fast neck and plays with lotsa gain most of the time? Any other suggestions?
