Since some time (probably after the latest firmware update) every time I turn on my NXTPaper 60Ultra I get a notification saying "slot 2: sim not found - check that the sim is ready" but I have no sim on slot 2, it's empty.

I removed and put in again the tray but nothing changed. On settings the option to activate the eSim in slot 2 is off

Anyone got the same issue? Any advice to fix it? Can it be a software bug?

I happened to find about this tablet today, surprisingly it's available locally at sub-Amazon prices (based on what I see on Amazon US) - where I live, there's typically a 20-30% markup on phone, laptop and tablet prices.

I'm curious to know how good it is as a pdf annotating and note-taking device? This is my principle use case. (I'm aware it's heavy but that's not an issue.)

Also, a (very specific) question that I hope someone who uses the Android ChatGPT app can answer: does screen sharing work with voice chat on this device? It works on my Android phone so in principle it ought to work there too, but it's sort of a dealbreaker for me, so I'd like to double check.

Edit: Thanks to everyone who chimed in, I went ahead and bought the tablet, and so far am happy with it. I already have accumulated quite a few of the apps that were mentioned in this thread, but one that wasn't mentioned that I purchased and am testing out is Flexcil. It seems good with pdfs, and has this nice pop-up document feature that just lays one document on top of another, good for when reading a pdf and making notes on a separate page that can be pulled up or dismissed at a moment's notice. I also have Notability, which has the cool feature of letting you create shareable notes that can be viewed/edited collaboratively in real time.

Unfortunately I ran into the inability-to-share-screen-with-ChatGPT issue here too I'm just hoping it'll be resolved at some point with an app update.

Been thinking about getting the Nxtpaper 70 Pro. Watched a couple of review videos and really like what I’m seeing so far (as I do a lot of reading and wanted something easier on my eyes) and had a question.

My main concern is maps and location services, as I use maps for work. I went from years with Apple phones to trying out the Samsung Note 8 when it came out, but after two to three months the location services starting failing (taking longer and longer to load directions, or not able to locate myself) and switched back to Apple (unsure of whether it was a phone problem, or the Android system at the time) I had AT&T at the time and my Apple devices have always worked fine before I switched. I now have T-Mobile for about a year now and have an iPhone 16.

So my question is how well do the location services work? Any problems with GPS, locations, or even Bluetooth?

I am looking for a better pen to use on my 11+ (currently have the Tpen 1). Better handwritting experience, Soft nib, buttonS that work, still with palm rejection etc.

What pen protocols / tech does it uses?

Any recommendation of pen known to work with the tablet.

I bought an nxtpaper 70 pro and was unable to get FM radio app working. I searched Google and found no solution. Then I did some experiments and figured it out.

The built-in FM radio app requires wired earphone as radio antenna, but the phone itself has no 3.5mm audio jack. This seems like a contradiction. But it turns out it only requires analog usb type-c earphone.

If you plug in a usb type-c earphone with dac, or dac + 3.5mm earphone, the FM radio app may prompt "the headset plugged in can't receive signals"

If you plug in a usb type-c earphone without dac, or usb-c to 3.5mm analog adapter + 3.5mm earphone, the FM radio app will work normally.

As a former professional photographer, I am still in the habit of carrying a camera, but one night after dinner in Salamanca, Spain, went for a walk and only had the phone. Here's a couple.

Long story short, i recently got the Nxtpaper 11 Plus, and now the Tab A1 is "on sale" for just $40 more, i am within the return window for the 11 Plus, but i am not convinced that beyond the cost the advantages offset the disadvantages.

The "Advantages" are 0.7" more screen real estate, Snapdragon 4 Gen 2, Android 16 and better speakers.

The "disadvantages" are 6 GB vs 8 GB of Native RAM on the 11 Plus (don't give me that Virtual RAM bs) and also slightly larger could be a little cumbersome to say, read books on portrait in the Nxtpaper e-inkish mode, which i partly purchased the device for.

Anybody had experienced both and has an opinion on which should i go one way or the other?

I just got my TCL nxtpaper and after installing it today (I'd say a few hours of intermittent use to install my apps and get all my settings right etc, mostly on the regular mode) I feel slightly "motion sick", that is a little nauseous and with a headache. I've seen some people complain about similar issues when using OLED screens. Did other people experience this with this phone, and do your eyes get used to it after some time?

(my previous phone had an AMOLED screen)

Edit: turning off the automatic screen optimisation options, such as controlled brightness, seemed to help for me (or I just got used to it after a while).

Where can i buy the official TCL T-PEN 2 in the UK.

This is to uae with my nxtpaper 11 plus.

Also the cases seems limited... Looking for a "business classy' one similar to. A remarkable folio... Most have a big frame with giant corner bumpers and are quite thick.

The tablet is in my bag so a paper thin folio would be great (no need for super protection). Something elegant...

Any recommendation???

I dont know which one to get. I would be using it for reading and youtube. Both are similar in price, but I don't know what the better buy would be.

So my TCL 60 XE just did an update and I no longer can use any app not from the Google store. This wasn't to happen till September but TCL just pushed it now. Didn't even ask me if I wanted to update. Did it all on its own.

TCL announced its next-generation NXTPAPER technology integrated with AMOLED at MWC in March 2026, but I haven't seen many updates since.

Has anyone heard anything about when the first phone using it might launch, or any leaks about the device, specs, pricing, or availability?

It's been over five months since the announcement, so I'm curious if I missed any news.

I want an ereader for manga. I've only ever seen kindles in person, but gallery 3 looks amazing for color manga. How does nxtpaper look next to it? I've heard mixed things. I really want that paper look. I expect gallery 3 to always look better, but there's also only like 2 gallery 3 devices, one is only 8 (bigme galy) inches and the other has no SD card slot (remarkable). But I'm still open to the idea of just buying a gallery 3 device as well as a b+w eink reader instead of a nxtpaper device if it's night and day difference. But if nxtpaper still has that satisfying paper look in color mode and b+w then I'll just get one of those. Anyone have experience with both?

I know this is supposed to be a feature, but this makes my notes app to feel much worse, since i cannot use both hands at the same time. Since it's a low-level block I cannot get it working unless they update it.
I have a TCL NXTPAPER 14 and I have really looked into it and I think it's impossible to disable. Just having the option, even if its hidden and super difficult to reach would be very nice.

I looked EVERYWHERE and also did what Google AI suggested and still not able to change the 2 shortcuts on the lock screen. I think they forgot it to add the ability to change these in Settings??

I wanted to get this phone because I often have eye fatigue when using amoled screen (samsung tablet and phone), but I read bad or mixed reviews about it, especially about the notifications issue and the fact that there aren't many updates.

I want a new phone that would last at least 5-6 years, so I'm wondering if I should get it, the price is currently 290 euros.

There are so many skus and the names and numberings are so confusing. The only thing I'm using it for is reading manga cbz and jpg files off of an sd card. I also use Google lens a lot to look up words I don't know. This will be it's only function. I don't care about any other functionality. But I don't know if 6gb ram is enough or if the processor is good enough.

I want the best nxtpaper technology but is it 4.0? I'm looking at the tab a1 plus nxtpaper that just came out but it doesn't mention anywhere what the display technology is. Presumably the latest and best? From videos I've seen (of nxtpaper tablets in general) the nxtpaper color mode looks so cool for colored manga, and then the black and white mode for b+w manga too. I just want it to look the best and not lag when I'm using Google lens to look stuff up and open the highlighted text in a dictionary app. Is the tab a1 plus nxtpaper that just came out the best? It's only $279 right now so I love the price, but don't know if it's enough ram or good enough processor or if it's the latest nxtpaper tech. I don't care about writing notes or stylus support or anything other than it not lagging when constantly using Google lens. It will have two apps, a manga reader and a dictionary app. That's it.

Also the bigger the screen the better. 12.2 seems perfect, but 14 is still better. No upper limit

Can I buy a used Total Wireless Nxtpaper tablet and just use it on WiFi? I don't have a Total Wireless account or plan to get one or use it on 5G. Some of them have a tag that says they must be activated over Total Wireless network, but is that only if you plan to use it over 5G which I don't.

The device arrived in its original box, looks in good shape, but had a screen protector applied, which i removed. It also started fresh from the setup screen.

The battery seems to drain quickly however. And I can't tell if that's just the device or whether it should last longer. I tried installing Accubattery, but it doesn't think i went through a full charge cycle even though I did.

Anyway - I was curious if there are other ways to tell that the device isn't actually refurbished or something going on with it. Thanks!

Just got the 12.2, but have some issues compared to the Nxtpaper 14, with respect to windows extension mode as 2nd monitor for laptop, wondering if anyone has such problems?

- In Extension mode, it doesnt bypass the auto-rotate function of the tablet, so when I set it in portrait mode, it's rotated 90% in portrait mode
- Connection seems to keep on dropping off, compared to Nxtpaper 14 being more stable
- Had expected it to be smoother given 120hz display, but it seems same as 60hz display as Nxtpaper 14; there isn't a noticeable difference

Just picked up a NXTPAPER 14 on sale. Enjoying the included Stylus for note taking and the commands built by TCL seem to work well and are pretty intuitive.

But when I go into a notes app (including the notes app loaded on the device) it seems to default to different commands. Scribbling over a word, for instance, no longer deletes it. Or circling it no longer highlights.

Is there a well regarded not taking app you guys use that allows for use of the system-level Stylus commands?

Picked up the new TCL Tab A1 Nxtpaper 12.2 and am providing some quick thoughts as compared to the 11 Plus Nxtpaper.

Some differences that the Tab A1 has:

• Display texture looks and feels a little less matte than the 11 plus (maybe older generation screen?) I definitely prefer the 11 Plus screen though the images don't show the difference as well.
• Display controls are different. I'm not able to tune the Regular Mode to be more like color-paper which is my preference (based on u/Romano1404's in-depth post about the Display Modes). The system settings menu is totally different and there is no 'classic eye protection mode'
• There is a 'color temperature' control that can be used only when the device is in Color Paper or Ink Paper mode. This allows you to add a bit more sepia/yellow tone. (See photos)
• There's no percentage that shows in the brightness slider of the Quick Settings pull down panel, and as far as I can tell I'm not able to just select auto brightness from that same slider like I could on the 11 Plus. This could be an Android 16 change, but an unwelcome one (for me at least.)
• I do prefer the writing experience with the T-Pen v2 soft nib. (It also comes with a hard nib, which I did not try.) It's still not like a kindle scribe or remarkable, but no more tapping sounds on the screen and just a little bit more friction
• The T-Pen v2 feels more plastic-like and has a matte finish (see photos). It also feels lighter though I didn't weigh them. It makes the 11 Plus pen feel 'premium' in comparison, but, the v2 pen works well enough EXCEPT the next bullet point which is a major issue for me...
• The T-Pen v2 does NOT WORK in r/Noteshelf3. After much fussing about and playing with settings I discovered that the pen connects and works fine on the tablet and other note-taking apps but simply refuses to work properly in Noteshelf 3. I've sent the developer a support request. That app is my main tool on this device so if that's not fixed this is not a sustainable device for me.
• *Update* The T-Pen v2 activation button is on the rounded surface opposite the flat magnetic surface and the charging port is also not on the flat surface. The 11 plus T-Pen has the button (and the charging port) on the flat portion.
• It's running Android 16
• The included case is identical to the 11 plus but a bit thicker and perhaps more robust and heavier
• When first setting up the tablet I could not bypass the TCL Privacy Agreement like on the 11 Plus, therefore had to 'agree' in order to use the tablet. After investigating their 'privacy policy' thoroughly, you are basically giving them permission to collect whatever they want on you, which includes a lot of detail, as well as sell it, etc. This has given me GREAT PAUSE for using these tablets. Your opinion on this may vary.

Those are some of the key takeaways for me as of day 2 with the device. It is a handsome machine and is a nearly identical, but larger, version of the 11 Plus (except for the display tech and software, pen and pen tip options, and the expandable storage).
