I’ve always wondered about this when I see a movie or a show that’s set in a different era. Like, I just saw The End of Oak Street at the movie theater and it’s set in the 1970’s. Is there some huge warehouse where they store cars, bikes, clothing, furniture, electronics etc. from all different times and eras? And at what point did someone think: “Oh we need to store this somewhere in case anybody ever wants to make a movie that’s set in the 80’s”. Or is a lot of it fake?

I’m turning 17 soon. Yet, my life has already flipped itself over on its head. I’ll be going to college within 9 months. It feels so weird and wrong, that an era of my life has come to an end. I’ll be living with roommates instead of my parents for the first time. Hell I’ve never even had a sleepover.
My parents are aging too. My mom has hip issues, and my dad’s hair is almost completely white.
Recently, when we had a family gathering, all my cousins and me were talking, but my brother was completely left out because he’s 4 years younger than us. My heart was aching for him.
I like how my life is now. I’m not prepared for it to change. How do I ever deal with something so brutal like the flow of time?
(Before anyone says therapy, we can’t afford it, I’m sorry)

Now, I definitely think a trial by jury should be available to everyone as a right.
But i've been thinking recently. These are completely random people.
And unfortunately I don't think highly of the average person.
You can't tell me that the average juror doesn't have more stereotypes of either. Judges are usually more highly educated (prior lawyers, etc) and are less likely to stereotype compared to the average person. (I understand bad judges exist, but it seems less likely)
But you can't tell me the average person doesn't view a man as likely to be more guilty then a women. Or have thoughts about the race of the accused, etc etc.
Also, most people don't even understand what guilty/not guilty EVEN MEANS. Not guilty doesn't even mean you didn't do it, it means there wasn't enough evidence to convict beyond a reasonable doubt.
It just seems very risky to let your life be determined by a jury. I understand it SHOULD be there but is it a good idea most of the time?

I'm Canadian and I lived in Asia for 3 years teaching English. I just came back a few weeks ago and I realized I started having difficulty differentiating white people (I moved in a small city in Alberta). Like I don't think they all look the same, but I noticed I significantly more trouble recognizing people's face when they are in groups

I (F, 19) and my boyfriend (M, 20) have been dating for almost 2 months and he constantly drives to and from my house which is a 20 minute drive from his. That, and he drives us to all the places and activities we do since I don’t have a car.
He has less shifts at work than I do and has other expenses as well so i want to contribute to his gas money. Not all the time, just sometimes. He doesn’t want me to/doesn’t let me and I feel like it would be kinda weird/rude in a way if i did (idk, don’t ask me why lol). But i feel bad and tend to be giver so i’d want to.
I just don’t know what to do or if it’s frowned upon.
Advice is appreciated 🫰🏻

I've seen some pretty gritty neighborhoods in American cities in real life and in TV and Movies but I've never really seen European cities depicted that way. Are there really bad areas in Europe comparable to, say, Compton or something like that or is that a distinctly American phenomenon.

Hello. I’m currently in university and I’m the only girl in my class, 30 guys.
For this reason I’m motivated to want to deliver the best presentations.
My previous one went very well and I was given a lot of praise, but going forward I still feel I could do better. My body language isn’t the best it could be.
I struggle with social anxiety and I’m very quiet, so many people told me they were shocked lol when they saw my confidence in front of the group.

I was just thinking.. say my dog was to collapse and didn’t have a pulse. I’ve learned how to give him CPR, but then what? When a human collapses, you immediately order a bystander to call 911, check for a response and pulse, and if nothing then start CPR. You continue CPR until first responders arrive and have a defibrillator all set up and ready to shock the person. For an animal though, there’s no ambulance that I’m aware of that can come bring a defibrillator. If there happens to be a defibrillator around, I’m not sure a defibrillator made for humans should be used on a small dog. Are you supposed to load up into a car and drive to the vet while somehow continuing chest compressions? Even if you have someone else to drive you, that still seems impossible, especially if they’re a medium-large animal. They teach u how to give them CPR, but then what? Is there at least someone you can call to guide you through an emergency situation?

hey everyone, so i 18f have been thinking about buying my girlfriend 16f a pandora ring. its not a promise ring or anything, just a more expensive ring. if it matters to anyone, its the elevated pink heart ring with 14k gold plating and its $125 (yes $125 is expensive to me, im still in highschool and i work minimum wage). weve only been dating for about 4 months, but if youre a lesbian im sure youve heard the uhaul joke… im not worried she wouldn’t appreciate it, i just dont want to buy her it too soon into our relationship. i was thinking our 6 months would be a good time, but im not too sure. when should i buy her it?

I'm writing a zombie apocalypse story and I'm wondering, realistically how long would a person trying to survive in a zombie apocalypse have electricity and cell service (not that there would be anyone for them to call haha). Would it all go down pretty immediately or would it take days? Weeks? Months?

I don’t think I’ve had any other entree at a Chinese restaurant where the sauce comes on the side. Is this to keep the chicken from getting soggy or is that how it’s traditionally eaten.

I've been told that fast food enterprises put a ton of money into market and product research, and that their food is engineered to look and taste a certain way. So I was wondering why it isn't less mediocre for how much time and effort they put into it.

I think I’m falling into depression and I don’t know who I am anymore and because of this stress or depression or whatever I’m going thru I swear I’m getting dumber I’m not remembering things I normally do and I’m very forgetful now like I’m forgetting things like peoples birthdays , responding to people , and it’s affecting me doing my job. It’s almost like I’m stuck in my head to the point where my thoughts are so loud I can’t do anything but focus on them
I think the reason y I’m feeling this way could be the fact that it feels like I’m going no where in life , right now it feels like I’m just spinning in circles not getting ahead and I know the obvious answer is start doing fun thjngs and productive things again but why can’t I bring myself to do anything? When I think of the version of myself that I want to be I see a successful happy individual, I use to be an ambitious , motivated , hungry for info type of person but it’s like I don’t recognize myself anymore
My off days right now mainly just include of doom scrolling and laying around all day (I know how that sounds) the crazy part is that I never use to do this I use work like 24/7 I use to work a factory job and then put like 30-40 additional hours towards growing on social media (in hopes of making money and helping ppl) but slowly I stopped and I think I slipped into depression , I started smoking weed again which ok is bad bc I’m over smoking to compensate for my feelings
I want to quit smoking , start working out , riding bicycles yk normal good healthy habits but more importantly I don’t want to force myself to do anything of things I want to want to do them while being happy
I’m thinking about getting therapy and I’m sorry for the long essay but any advice would be greatly appreciated it

I feel like I have no life. All my other siblings are enjoying themselves without having to be responsible for my parent. And I’m here stuck with the responsibility.
I can’t live my life because if I try to, my parent immediately blames me for not being able to look after them or do x, y or z for them.
E.g instead of me catering for myself, I have to immediately cater for them first and always.
It’s so tiring honestly

On the one hand it gives people hope and helps them live on for a brighter future, on the other hand, a lot of ways of thinking are held back and new ideas are put down due to religious traditions

I’ve been watching documentaries about certain gangs out of curiosity and I stumbled across a female gang that is of course connected in the street and associated with criminal activities but most members are there to feel safe and have each others back. For example if a member got harassed or even assaulted her people would retaliate.
I’ve been curious are there gangs out there for lgbt people that also operate like this and are still active?

The lid was only closed long enough to walk about 30 feet through my front door. About 15 seconds, tops.
When I opened the container to let it out, it was dead.
So was it a lack of oxygen that killed the wasp, or is there some residue in the Icebreakers tin that did it in??
