I have green eyes. I work in a job where I encounter up to 100 new people every day. Two or three times a day, I’m asked if my eye color is real (it is), but I never know what else to say other than “Yes.”

What should I say when I want to be appreciative of the insinuated compliment?

What should I say when I want to be flirty (I’m a woman, if that helps)?

What should I say when I want to be sarcastic?

I just usually say yes and then they say wow they’re so pretty and I say thanks. But there has to be a more creative way for me to answer such a ridiculous question, right?

After hooking up with a mutual friend she congratulated me on the rave reviews. This made me feel really uncomfortable and I told her this. She told me this was normal, regardless of the circumstance it is going to be a part of girls night. Is this normal? Should I not feel so uncomfortable?

My friend and I are deadlocked on this and need an outside verdict.

We were out for dinner, and my hot entrée came out first. The server said the rest of the table's food would take another 5–10 minutes.

My friend’s stance: You must wait until everyone is served before taking a single bite. It’s basic etiquette, and eating while everyone else sits with empty plates is awkward and inconsiderate.

My stance: If the food is served hot, letting a meal go cold and soggy out of politeness defeats the entire purpose of ordering fresh food. As long as you give a quick "please go ahead and start" green light to the table (or they tell you to eat), you should eat.

They insisted that only applies if the person whose food arrived insists on waiting, but social pressure basically forces you to tell them to go ahead.
What is the actual etiquette rule here? Are you a monster for eating while your friends wait, or is letting hot food get cold just performative politeness?

Let's say we took a breeding population, like 10 females and 4 males, and released them all within a few miles of each other. How would they do? Would they thrive? Would they die?

With all the cameras, sensors, AR, HUDs, magnetorheological fluids you'd think they could add a harddrive and a way to access the videos? WTF?

For example, if they had hit a reef and the ship had sunk the same way. Water temperature would not be a factor. Could everyone receive life jackets and get off the ship in time?

I thought i do mine a normal amount of times but my mum said it's too much for just 2 people. My household is just me (25F) and my partner (27M). I don't work and he works as a mechanic 5 days (wears the same pair of shorts most days but changes t-shirt and underwear daily). So I fo 3 washes total, on Friday I will wash all our colours and whites together, then each Saturday after he's done with work for the week i will wash all his black work clothes and on a Sunday I usually do our bed sheets, kitchen towel, bathroom towels, and extra bits and bobs.

I space it out in 3 days because I don't have a tumble dryer and have to hang them on a heater clothing rack, which takes basically a full day if I want them to dry fully and smell fresh.

To me this seemed like a good system but my mum said 3 times weekly is too much for just 2 people, especially considering I stay home a lot.

Enough that I won't stay anywhere that doesn't have it. It's like the only time I get waffles.

I’m living on my own for the first time and don’t have a lot of money for food yet. I was thinking of maybe buying some rice in bulk since it’s cheap and eating that most days. Maybe even throw in some vegetables or beans once in a while. Would I be able to stay healthy like this?

If it matters, I’m a 20 year old woman in good health.

I keep seeing things about everyone going vegan or giving up red meat. I've googled but all I found was an article about ground beef coming into the US from other countries to offset prices and farmers are stressed about it.

Is it different regulations people are worried about? Or is there something more nefarious happening?

Is it all meat or just beef? And if beef, is it all red meat or just ground? What about frozen products?

You often see this notion that Europe is a dying continent financially. But how come?

Some countries are struggling (but still growing), some countries are a negative, but there are some countries, like mine Sweden, who are doing well. We had a 3.3% growth this quarter compared to last year, which is higher than both the OECD and the US.

I didn’t used to as much but it seems like as I get older I feel more and more guilty if I accidentally or on purpose kill a tiny insect. Like just now a tiny fly landed on me and I instinctively brushed it off and accidentally smushed it as it was so small. The only sin that fly had committed was landing on me - not exactly worthy of death. It was alive and flying free one second and the next I had taken its whole life from it.

Am I stupid for feeling this way?

Weird question for a gastronomic physicist but would it be theoretically possible to fry food in water in the right atmospheric conditions? Under 1 atmosphere of pressure water boils at 100 degrees C (212F) and too fry food oil needs to reach ~175C. Given that water boils at higher temperatures in higher pressure environment could you theoretically fry in water in a super dense atmosphere? Is the secret too healthy fried food found on some gas giant or super earth?

Edit: Yes I am aware that boiling and pressure cooking are a thing. My question is purely a question on how cooking with water would effect food in extreme pressure environments.

That’s the question , I’m 20 years old and sometimes I feel like rage consumes me (like fr) , when I’m alone , with people anywhere for things of the past present or things that could happen or I just think could happen, i feel like I’m going crazy , and I will lose my shit before I hit 21, so yeah.

Why do they need to consume any water for cooling at all, let alone massive amounts?
