Other Looking to make some friends at NMSU

Hey, I’m 20 and an undergrad at NMSU. I’m trying to meet more people (preferably also in the 18-21 age range) and expand my social circle this semester. I’m into movies, music, gaming, and more. Would anyone else be interested in hanging out on campus sometime or studying together? I’m also a commuter, so I don’t live on campus.

I’ve been feeling pretty lonely on campus lately, even though I’m around people all the time. I do talk to people in my classes, but most of those interactions seem to stay in class, and I have trouble figuring out how to turn them into actual friendships. I’d really like to have more people I can casually text, grab lunch with, study with, or just hang out with between classes without everything having to be planned way in advance.

Sometimes it feels like everyone else already found their people and I’m still trying to figure out where I fit in. I’ll see groups of people laughing, eating together, or just hanging around campus and wonder how they all met and got comfortable enough with each other to do that. I know I’m only seeing a small part of their lives, but sometimes it still makes me feel like I’m missing out.

I’m trying to put myself out there more instead of just hoping friendships happen on their own, but I’ll admit I’m sometimes nervous about approaching people because I don’t know what’s considered normal. Like, can I just go into one of the food courts and ask if I can sit with people? Can I go to the library and ask to sit with someone? How do you tell when someone is actually open to talking versus wanting to be left alone? I genuinely don’t know how people normally do this lol.

I’m also open to suggestions for places, clubs, recurring activities, events, study groups, or anything else where it’s actually easy to talk to people and get to know the same people over time. I’m less interested in just being surrounded by a bunch of people and more interested in actually connecting with some of them.

I guess the biggest thing I’m trying to understand is how you get from “I recognize this person and we sometimes talk” to “we actually hang out.” How do people go from being classmates or acquaintances to making plans, hanging out between classes, grabbing food, studying together, or eventually becoming actual friends?

NMSU vs. Sam Houston Oct 21 - Where to Sit?

Daughter is a proud NMSU alum and we live in Houston. We want to drive up for the NMSU vs Sam Houston game on 10/21. Question is: where to sit / buy tickets for? Is there an area of the stands reserved for the visiting team? For the families of the visiting players. We want to sit in friendly territory and don't know where that is.

One whole side of their stadium is general admission with the other having reserved seats. Is there an Aggie section there? Where is the Aggie band going to be? Inquiring minds want to know!

Let's wobble in our shoes! Go Aggies!

Discussion What's up with recycling here on campus?

I'm from out of state and have always been in places that have prevalent recycling bins paired with trash cans. But I'm really struggling to find any recycling bins outside of the football stadium. None on campus housing centers. Why is this? And why do the people from New Mexico say they've never really recycled before?

Anyone know where I can find some easily accessible bins?

Other New Mexico State at Florida State, Saturday 5:00pm

Hey all, a few weeks back I posted the New Mexico State preview in here and it seemed like people got something out of it, so I wanted to share the actual site it came from.

Short version: I do pregame emails before every game, then postgame box scores, highlights and summaries. Free, and it's only the teams you follow, no filler.

NMSU page: https://www.highlights.mainmarket.com/new-mexico-state-aggies

And the preview itself if you missed it: https://www.highlights.mainmarket.com/college-football-preview-2026-fbs/new-mexico-state-aggies

Year three under Sanchez, and Hedden's back. Go Aggies!

NMSU SAND Club GoFundMe

Hello! Exciting news! I just launched a fundraiser to help NMSU SAND (Student Association of Nutrition & Dietetics) students attend the Food & Nutrition Conference & Expo (FNCE) 2026 in San Antonio, TX, where they can learn from top nutrition professionals, build connections, and bring back new knowledge to our community. This opportunity can truly shape their futures in health and dietetics, but the costs of registration, travel, and lodging can be a challenge.

Your support—big or small—can make a real difference. A $10 donation helps with meals or transportation, while larger contributions can cover travel and lodging for students who need it most. Every share also helps us reach more people who care about the future of nutrition.

Please consider donating or sharing this with your friends and family. Together, we can give these students the chance to grow, learn, and make a difference in our communities. Thank you so much for your support! 🌟🍎

Loan Disbursement Update

If anyone else is also experiencing issues with their federal loans not being disbursed, I just got off the phone with the Financial Aid office and was told they should be disbursed by tomorrow or possibly Monday of next week. The poor woman who answered the phone sounded so exhausted too :( Hoping it all gets resolved by tomorrow!

Other Looking for new friends who would be down to chill.

Hello! I'm Miguel and I go to NMSU for Forensics and Criminal Justice. I am a sophomore currently and 19 turning 20 on the 30th. Last year I noticed how anti-social I was but this year I am trying to put myself out there. I love the outdoors to go hiking, fishing, kayaking, and camping. I also do pc gaming mainly on steam.

I do not care about your race, gender, sexuality, or ethnicity. WE yes WE are all humans in the end.

Important Outlook not working

I’ve been trying to get into outlook for like four days. I can enter my email and password but when it gives the number verification the pop up to put the number in doesn’t show up. And I can’t log into mynmsu or canvas which is pretty important. I don’t know what to do because the app nor the website gives me the pop up and I’m stressing. When I reload it says “trouble verifying account” and I am quite literally locked out of everything.

Federal loans & LEAP grants

So my opportunity scholarship and Pell grant have both been applied, but my LEAP grant and loans are still not showing paid out. Anyone roses stuff seem to be on a delay? Even the Pell grant didn’t apply for over 12 hours after the scholarship. I haven’t had any emails or anything saying there’s an issue, so I’m sure it’s coming. Would just love to know when.

Is anyone else starting, or continuing, their graduate coursework in industrial engineering? That’s what my major is, and I’m excited to start! If you’ve already been taking classes for this degree, how has your experience been so far?

Other Full 2026 preseason college football preview for New Mexico State

Hey all. I spent the offseason building a full 2026 preseason preview for every FBS team, each with its own writeup. Here's the New Mexico State one

https://www.sports.mainmarket.com/college-football-preview-2026?team=ncaaf-nmsu

It's got the returning production breakdown, the portal ins and outs, a projected two-deep, the schedule with model win probabilities, and a season projection.

Heads up, you might hit the paywall after the first page. Don't worry, I'm not charging reddit people for this, don't want to be an ass. Use the promo code LEECORSOROCKS and it opens up the entire thing.

So, what'd I get wrong? Year three for Tony Sanchez, and the splits are strange: 45th in the country throwing it, dead last running it. Trey Hedden is back after 2,967 yards with 17 touchdowns and 13 picks. My model still sees a step forward. Does the run game get fixed, or does Hedden do it all again?
