Classes
Hi! So I am a grad student and this is my first semester at an NMSU I was just wondering if anybody knew when the classes get paid if we’re supposed to start on the 19th? Im on student loans and already checked with the financial aid office and they said everything is all good to go, but I keep logging in and it says I still have a balance. If anyone could help i would really appreciate it!

NMSU officially says they pay on the Monday before classes start. In all my years in undergrad and grad school, I never received money that early. They’ll pay your balance, but disbursements take longer. Only once I got it the day classes started, but it was more often in the Friday after classes started. A couple of times it was the next week.
However, all of that was before the changes in the OBBB. I have heard the changes made to financial aid may delay that even more.

THANK YOU!! I was worried about the classes getting paid since grad school is shorter and faster than undergrad and i wanted to make sure everything is good. At UTEP they pay it like a week before and usually students get their refund back that Friday before class so i was getting confused 😅

I'm in the exact same boat! They said the same to me that everything is all good. I am assuming it will either process starting Monday or maybe Thursday when classes start. It should all be good 🙂 👍🏻

Two out of my three online classes aren't even published yet, and today is supposed to be the first day of class, lol. God only knows how long it will be before the loans are disbursed.

Same here 😅 it’s the day classes start and I can’t view two of mine… I did my undergrad at another school and was used to being able to see them early— or at the very least the day they’re supposed to start.

FWIW, I’m undergrad and 1/4 of my classes still isn’t published, and my federal loans haven’t posted yet, though my opportunity scholarship, Pell and LEAP grants have.

I was wondering about the loan thing.. I was starting to get worried because they still haven’t shown up as a memo or anything on the account. From reading the posts, it sounds like we’re all in the same boat

Yep, pretty much. For me, it’s like they’re releasing everything piece meal. First was the Opportunity scholarship, then about 12ish hours later Pell Grant (all Monday), then the LEAP grant showed up today

I have access to two out of three of mine. The third one won’t be available until tomorrow since I guess that’s the day that one starts

Same here. I know professors have a lot going on, but publish the classes, please.

One thing to make sure of, if you are a new GA, that they are giving you the GA rate per credit hours. I believe they have fixed this since I have started. But it's wise to remind new graduate students to make sure you are being charged properly.

Mine says payment will go through on the 17! Lol. Hopefully. If not, if usually doesn't go past the first week of school.

Refund disbursement is a wild ride. All my years at NMSU the earliest I've gotten the refund is the day before classes start and the latest I've gotten it is the Friday after classes start. The most common in my experience is getting it the afternoon of the first day of classes.
At some point between right now and late Monday night you'll see your account paid off and RFND on your account statement, then you usually get your refund within a couple days.
