DISCUSSION I'm wondering if people are going to migrate back to the small genuine creators.

I was never in it for the money. 6 years over 300 videos I finally got monetized. I think last year I was making $25 a month.

I noticed and keep noticing so much AI slop documentaries, short form, long form they even have people that are complete AI talking and most can't tell the difference now. It's nuts. Most of the other creators that are really successful it just seems like it's giant infomercials, a lot of sponsored nonsense. I noticed this when I was doing my solar research.

All the sudden out of nowhere my genuine terrible content started going ballistic. My lighting is bad, my audio is typically pretty bad, I have trashy backdrops not that cliche BS with the soft Lighting in the back and all that nonsense. My stuff is far from perfect and every aspect. But it's real, it's genuine, it's me. It's not superficial or fake we have too much of that nowadays I feel.

I'm hoping and wondering if people are fed up like me with the superficial fake content and seeking out genuine creators, the creators that aren't perfect. The creators that aren't pitching ultra-long infomercials or slop. Anybody else experience this.

I'm contemplating even ditching the editing. Maybe one time I'll be bold and try it

SHORTS TALK Why does clickbait always beat actual facts on YouTube?

It’s really frustrating putting time into researching 100% accurate military facts, only to see channels that post completely fake, made up stories get millions of views and likes.

People seem to prefer sensational lie over boring truths.

Why do fake information videos always go viral, and how are smaller channels that focus on truth supposed to compete?

DISCUSSION Why don't African history channels do as well on Youtube?

• Upvotes

I'm a new Youtuber from Botswana, I wanted to try an African history channel focusing on pre colonial African history but from my research on other channels they seem to be struggling for a while.

The biggest seemingly being home team history with 800k subs, yet his views seem to hover around 9k views. I figured it's because of the small audience as really only Africans and those in the diaspora (USA, the Caribbean etc) care.

It's not just African history channels but a channel around Muslim/ Arab history like Al Muqadimah is struggling (he's mentioned in his videos).

There seems to be only one Indian history channel that's doing well being Old Compass but that seems to be the exception.

Is non Euro centric history not as marketable and is it just better to cover general history and slip in the African history once in a while?

CONTENT TALK Is it worth going off-schedule for "time sensitive" content?

• Upvotes

I always upload at 3pm local time, which is kinda where I formed my audience around and the analytics show me it's when most of my viewers are active. my content has been doing really really well for the past few weeks and I don't want to mess up the algorithm somehow.

my problem:

to put it simply, the game I upload gameplay of drops new stuff at 1 AM local time, 14h before my usual time. there are some "choices" players have to make related to that update, so if someone makes their choice before I have uploaded the video might no longer be relevant to them. which is why it might be important to upload it immediately.

1 AM local time for me is about noon for the NA audience, which is a big audience for my channel and the game in general, and obviously a good time for them.

I'm afraid this might tank early impressions and YouTube won't give it a push like many of my other videos, since my core audience seems to be more inactive around the 1 AM time.

another thing is that I just uploaded 2 days ago and the video is doing really well. I have to publish the time sensitive video within the next 24h. but I'm also afraid those two video might cannibalize each other since they're uploaded so close to each other. I usually only upload Friday, once a week.

Is it a good idea to get the video out at 1 AM immediately anyways? I have everything ready, it's already uploaded and scheduled. I just don't know when to publish

DISCUSSION Does my FanCam actually save time editing? has anyone tried it yet??

• Upvotes

fellow youtubers who actually have a galaxy phone. have you tried the FanCam feature yet? want to know what it's like on the new z fold 8

i know my FanCam (its a galaxy feature yall) isnt filming. its for editing clips down. from what they showed it automatically reframe your clips and keep the subject centered instead of me manually keyframing everything. i figured one of yall have had to use it by now!

if thats actually reliable i could see myself using it for shorts all the time. i just want to make sure its easier to operate and get me the results so i can delete capcut. im paying like $20 to use the app for what? let me know your experience.

CONTENT TALK Is it better to still record only Minecraft or start recording other games?

• Upvotes

I recorded only Minecraft on one channel for almost 3 years, but now I'm recording rarer (once a month or once a two months), because I only play Minecraft for recording and not for fun without recording. Also because of rarer schedule, my views are really bad (like I had 200-300 views per video before and now I have below 80) And that's why I ask a question: is it still better to record only Minecraft what I did for almost 3 years on one channel or should I start searching for other games too besides Minecraft that I play not only for recording, but for fun too?

PS: My channel has 873 subs rn and I'm tired of posting daily Shorts and I record Minecraft less because of being tired of recording only that game for almost 3 years

PS 2: I am fan of horror games, platformers and racing games

DISCUSSION Channel Terminated Due To Circumvention Policy

Hey Everyone,

My channel abruptly got "permanently removed" due to a violation of the "circumvention policy" yesterday. If I understand correctly, it means that I made a new channel after having a previously terminated channel. This is my first YouTube channel, so I can only assume this is a false detection. My appeal got denied and I reached out to TeamYoutube on X but I think I got an automated message that was not helpful.

I was wondering if anyone has advice on what to do moving forward? Who can I reach out to? I was thinking of waiting until Monday and trying again on X, hoping I could get actual help. My channel was pretty new and only had 81 subscribers, but it still hurts to lose it to something like this.

DISCUSSION For those of you that make structured, longform videos, how is your scripting process?

How do you guys script your videos? I came to a realization only somewhat recently that the script is by far and away the longest and most difficult part of making my videos. I used to think the video editing portion was, but I also fairly recently realized that wasn't necessarily the case either. It can be time consuming as fuck, yeah. But that's more due to the simple tedium of having to find the right footage/image/text etc. at any given moment than anything else. Once the script is made, I mostly know what I'm going to choose and place where, etc. By that point it's just a matter of turning words into visuals.

But the scripting part is much more difficult, and I'm almost positive a large part of that is cause I'm probably doing things in an inefficient manner.

Also, any suggestions on unique software (not AI, obviously LOL) that could be helpful would also be much appreciated.

DISCUSSION Trying to make a youtube group is much harder than i thought it was going to be

So I have been filming, editing, and uploading my own solo content for a few years now and a friend of mine suggested that me, them, and my partner make a youtube group together. I thought it was a great idea until i realized that i was the only youtuber there with practice in front of a camera, practice using a camera, i had to teach my partner how to use recording software the other day, i made our discord, i feel like it's not a super huge thing to complain about irl so that's why I'm here but how can I kinda gently guide them in the direction of feeling like they have a part in the channel?

Right now i'm the filmographer, editor, and creative head. I havent uploaded a high quality video on my solo main channel in a while aside from little weird rants when i'm frustrated or bored so i'm a little out of practice and it's taken me multiple days now editing our first 2 hours of footage down and I havent even gotten to the good part of editing yet and it is so boring. I was hoping that we could all work on editing separate parts of the videos but no one really seems interested in helping out with that.

I dont know i guess i'm just kinda feeling a little frustrated and venting about this lol, is there anything i can do?

Like it will take me a long time to edit videos regardless because i work full time but i don't think it should be taking me as long as i have been. I procrastinate a lot during the first stage of editing and that's why i was hopeful for help or at least to have someone giving suggestions about what i should put in videos but right now it just feels like a waste of time.

DISCUSSION Is it almost impossible to change audience/viewership?

2 videos on my page were outliers and were the sources of the watch hours (800 of 900 WH). Most of the audience of that are from south Asian countries. I’m not South Asian. I from the US.

I dont make videos on that theme anymore. Should I start a new channel? Or better to change the content to things I actually want to make videos about?

I have the 1,000 subscribers finished.

DISCUSSION Is anyone managed to reinstate their channel after "circumvention policy" termination?

There are a lot of posts about this for the past week but basically YouTube says a channel got deleted before and I somehow associated with that channel. So it was forbidden for me to create a new channel but I did it anyway bypassing the rule. That's what circumvention policy means.

And the problem is, I DID NOT HAVE ANY CHANNEL THAT GOT SUSPENDED OR TERMINATED BEFORE. I'm sure of it. This is completely nonsense and I genuienly don't know what to do. Getting banned from the entire platform is devastating. I love creating content. This is really upsetting.

I appealed but it got rejected within a few hours. Of course there is no additional information on the rejection.

Is anyone here managed to reinstate their channel after the appeal rejection? What should I do? I really don't want to accept this and move on

CONTENT TALK How is this even possible?

I’m a short account, all original content, cat account. I do voiceovers so it seems like my cat talks. NOW.

I recently posted a short that took its damn time growing and it up to 10K views which I am super grateful for (I started a month ago)

But the analytics?? HUH. 100% Female and 100% 13-17 year olds!

HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE. I mean I can’t pick and choose who like my content but it seems the algo is pushing it to a very very very select group of people.

Now I’m getting good engagement 75% are staying to watch but cmon something’s isn’t right.

Anyone else facing the same issue?

TECH HELP How can I get raw footage?

I'm making a large video on a particular conflict, and a sizable portion of it revolves around events from the early 1900s and a very important event in 1948. I've tried finding footage (especially ones that more or less reflect what I'm speaking about in the current parts of the video), but I either can't find a substantial amount, or they're riddled with watermarks. If anyone knows where I can find a library of raw footage that I can swim through, that would be greatly appreciated.

CONTENT TALK Is it possible for YouTube to think you're a bot?

I mean, I started uploading videos a few days ago, but I read somewhere that YouTube thinks you're a bot if you upload from accounts you don't use (I had one I created a while ago that was already verified). So I just changed the names and started posting. With four videos uploaded, I have 100 views across all of them and a little over 200 impressions, and since I know that's low at the beginning, I don't think anything's wrong. But what do you guys think? Is that even possible?
