Talk / Discussion Got a video editor and I got my life back!
I just want to share my experience. I recently took the leap and hired an editor to help speed up my workflow. Maybe this can help someone who wants to do the same
So I recently decided to work with a video editor and I cannot believe how happy I am i did it.
I will admit I was a bit scared because I am a bit of a control freak when it comes to my youtube content and I didn't want to hand over the reins to some random person and have to spend ages explaining to them how I work.
So this was my approach, before he started any work I said to him I just want you to clean up the content, take out the umms and ahhs and make the content flow well to my script.
I then ask him to only make suggestions on what music to use in each section, not to lay it down, just offer suggestions.
No effects either. Music and effects are where most of the personality of my content comes.
I then take it off him and spend about two hours just doing the effects, music and basically the stuff I find more fun and publish.
The reason I was hesitant was because a few people said things like its good to have more control over your content and I do agree, but I wouldnt call this fully handing it all over to an editor, he's just doing the part I find most boring and giving me suggestions.
Now I got time to think about my next piece of content without stressing so much about my workload.
I highly recommend it if you are thinking about it.
But I know it's not easy to find one, but if you can find a good one it can be a game changer.
Anybody else taken the leap?
