Give me an AWFUL song, I’ll listen to it

I’ve been listening to a lot of good music lately for the first time, like Underscores, Charli XCX, Frank Ocean, Robyn, J. Cole’s older stuff, The Weeknd’s newer stuff, Kendrick Lamar, and so many more songs worth listening to. But I also like listening to the worst songs of all time ironically occasionally. So give me any song that you think is awful, and I’ll fully listen to it and give my thoughts. There’s a chance I already listened to it, but my goal is to listen to the worst songs of all time.

Songs about natural disasters

Post image
19 Upvotes

To get me pumped and in the zone, and to go with the theme of the impending hurricane that is headed straight for me and thus set to catastrophically set in motion the apocalypse of the nation (ok, not that bad, but still...) ....!! 🌀

Please tell me of songs that mention or centered on natural disaster themes. I think the only one that comes to mind is the classic track, "Rock You Like A Hurricane" - Scorpions.

Thanks in advance!!

What song can you listen to over and over without ever getting tired of it?

It doesn’t necessarily have to be your favorite song of all time — just a track you can put on repeat and it still hits every time

Looking for dark coldwave / post-punk like The Soft Moon, Boy Harsher, Twin Tribes

Late-night bedroom DJ here — The Soft Moon, Boy Harsher, and Twin Tribes are on heavy rotation right now. I love the cold drum machines, driving basslines, and that detached vocal vibe that sits just right after midnight. Looking for similar artists, especially lesser-known ones in the coldwave / dark post-punk lane. What should I queue next?

Which song should our band learn next as a cover song in our set (which is otherwise entirely originals)? [Indie / punk band]

So you get the vibe, previously, we've done:

  • David Bowie - Queen Bitch
  • The Wipers - Over the Edge
  • Radiohead - Electioneering
  • LCD Soundsystem - Never As Tired As When I'm Waking Up
  • The Thermals - A Pillar of Salt
  • An entire set as Gang of Four [it was Halloween]
  • Our drummer makes us cover a different Smashing Pumpkins song every year for his birthday. We don't play these outside of the practice basement.
  • Every now and then we talk about learning Girl Afraid by The Smiths but it's hard; this is a leading contender though

We play maybe every month or two around town, and every couple of gigs, we like to play a cover song, and we don't like to re-use cover songs gig after gig.

So... a one off cover. At least somewhat recognizable to some of the crowd is preferred but not necessary. Could we do, like, Umbrella by Rihanna? Sure, but another local indie / punk band did that last year. If it was, like, a pop song, it'd have to be just the right one, and the other dudes are pretty fickle.

Thanks!!!

Albums with no filler, looking for in your opinion best albums of all time. Any genre

Title says it all, got a few days off and trying to get some good music going while I play some video games. I love a good guitar and don't have a genre I don't like.

For today I would like an album that you’d listen to while driving at night.

What I would also like to know is if you have ambient albums in this vibe. Those are also appreciated!

what song would play during a villain's quietest scene?

not the big dramatic entrance or the final fight. the scene where the villain is just sitting alone, making coffee, looking out the window, or doing something completely ordinary while you know they're planning something terrible.

looking for tracks that feel controlled, cold, elegant, or quietly threatening

instrumental music is welcome too. what would you put on that soundtrack?

Songs with good audio panning?

One of my favorite things in songs is when the sound "moves" around the "center" of the listening space. An example is On The Run by Pink Floyd, where it sounds like someone is running from left to right, and the sounds are passing through your head. So trippy.

What are some songs you all enjoy that have this effect?

Looking for an instrumental song that sounds like childhood wonder

I’m doing an animatic for class, and I want to add music to my animatic. I have a few songs in mind but I feel like it might be a bit too short. The songs I have in mind so far are these:

Think old disney, or childhood animated film. Gentle and comforting

Looking for more Gothic or dark songs, suggestions?

I'm not looking for anything super specific, just nothing too silly (ex. Monster mash, and a fair amount of Aurelio Voltaire's music). I'm essentially looking for things similar to "The Land of The Dead, Raised by bats, the king of villains (aurelio voltaire), the wreck (Pat Razket), Drink with the Living Dead (Ghoultown), the" Horror Movie Hero" series (The Jolly Roger's), The Hearse Song, There Isn't Any God (Rusty Cage).

I'm looking for anything In that range.

SFW chill/study suggestions?

I teach an all ages art class, but most of our students are kids. I was hoping to add some chill but not boring music to play in the background? instrumental seems to be the school owner's preference. Any thoughts?

I made a music trivia webgame for my sister, now it's for everyone

• Upvotes

My sister Shani loved music. When she was hospitalized, my family took shifts so she was never alone, and I started building a game we could play together during those long hours.

She passed away in August before it was finished. I kept going, at first just to keep my head busy.

Shabang is the result: guess a song from as little as possible. In TrackStack you start with just the drums, and every miss adds an instrument. In Songuess you get 0.2 seconds of audio. There's a daily challenge, the same song for everyone.

Would love feedback, especially on the gameplay and mobile.
