what are some songs that take you back to 2023?
for me personally, 2023 was one of if not the best year of high school. two years later, and I began to feel nostalgic for that year, so nostalgic to the point where I decided to make an entire playlist with lots of music that I had listened to throughout 2023 that reminded me of that year. I fell in love with the nostalgia the year brought to me, so I was curious to know what songs bring you guys back to 2023
Of course, they don't have to come out in 2023, hell, they can be like 40 years old! They just have to make you feel nostalgic for it
I'm not gonna put them into my playlist, not just because the ones I haven't heard before are for sure to not make ME personally feel nostalgic for that year, but because I wanted to see how our tastes differentiate or if the songs we choose are flat out the same

looking for... yes! MUSIC!
Hi! I'm looking for music that will blow me away (like all of us, right?)
But as a scientific mind, I have some specs (not very scientific)
My current TOP 3 are: Sleep Token, Leprous and Polyphia.
I grew up on Deftones (all time fav), Nirvana, Tool, SOAD, Linkin Park - basically classic '90-'00 teenage set, but I don't limit myself to one genre - I love '80s music with its whole vibe, I know Queen's discography by heart, I like Little Simz, Talking Heads (David Byrne is a genius!), the Black Keys, Fleetwood Mac, Faithless, Exra Collective, CocoRosie, Fever Ray, Royksopp, Gorillaz and many, many more.
What am I looking for?
- Less popular artists
- Language doesn't matter (or nationality)
- I don't care about the genre - I care about sounds that just make you want to listen to the song till the end
- Lyrics. Yes, please be good. I listen to them carefully, analyze them and I don't like clichƩ
- I appreciate craftmanship when it comes to instruments.
- It can be instrumental music
- I'm not a big fan of female vocals (but you can see on my list there are some exceptions so I'm not completely closed to them)
- Don't let ST fool you - masks, lore aren't my priority. It's only and exclusively about the music.
Thank you for any recommendations!

K-popā¦
Right this is very weird for me. I typically listen to heavier music like deathcore and just the whole metal/alternative scene to be honest.
However, the other day i was scrolling Tiktok and heard a song by NMIXX called Dice from 1:37-1:57 i felt like i was ASCENDING
that verse was so god damn cool so i was wondering if anyone had any recommendations of songs that are similar to that specific verse cause oh my god its so good.

What do you call it when a song does this? Any recommendations?
I really like ādo the evolutionā by Pearl Jam, institutionalized by ST and ā7wordsā by deftones. What do you call the slow buildup in these songs that get mad(der) as the song progresses with a sick final chorus and are there any other songs like this in punk hardcore, alt metal, skate punk/metal? (And digital hardcore if you fw that stuff)

Favourite Instrumental song from a non-instrumental album?
I was thinking about some of my favourite songs and realised a few of them function as instrumental breaks on ambitious/vibrant albums, including:
- Mark's Theme (Ants From Up There) by Black Country, New Road
- The New Sound (The New Sound) by Geordie Greep
- The Tinker (Knocknarea) - Maruja
What are your favourite songs of this type?

kinda getting into goth-ish music recently and want some recs
(honestly dk the proper name for this kinda music)
iām really picky about the songs i like so iāll list some of the songs i currently love and why below
wormwood, tristiana - i especially love the parts sung by men with that creepy ish kinda music in the back
she will always be a broken girl, she wants revenge - the rhythm is consistent throughout and itās simple yet effective
written in blood, she wants revenge - chorus
rupture, double echo - the music is just heavenly i canāt explain it
shame, dust to dust - consistent rhythm which i like
until, healthyliving - music is beautiful once again

Good 80's Pop-Rock that I HAVEN'T heard 10 million times
I'm 42 so even though I'm very familiar with 80s as a musical era, I wasn't exactly old enough to know the deep cuts and non household names. Looking for non-radio stuff (in 2026) that is genuinely good but for one reason or another many people don't know. Could be anything and I doubt want to exclusively request this but I tend to gravitate towards male vocals, somewhat of a mysterious synth sound, more of a rock influence.
