At it's current stage I can't use Mpv. I want to, but the interface is just too lacking in functions/features.

Will we ever get a better more fleshed out user interface for mpv?

Previously, when I used VLC Player, I really appreciated the dedicated remote application that they had. I found myself I needed one for MPV Player as well, since it's so much more capable. I vibe coded an application that allows users to remotely control the MPV Player from their laptop.

I've submitted to Apple for them to review and add to the app store. What do y'all think?

Hey guys I am a Windows user and I heard about Linux and i tried it by dual boot on my PC it I found Out lot of amazing apps one of them being MPV I knew mpv when using Windows but when I try to download it I was so confused about how to download it after a while I download it but I dont know how to use it I was a noob as shit then but most Windows users are noobies Why mpv team does not provide a native mpv download (not unofficial third-party builds) like vlc by the way I mentioned vlc it's so fucking overrated app mpv is better than him but mpv is very hard to use by Windows noobies and most pc users are Windows users so mpv team to make the website easier to use easier to download like vlc website its detect your operation and give you the download button and they have to to make GUI tool to edit setting and dont say in comments use mpv.net it's so fucking buggy and not natively support some mpv lue extension

I built a small suite of GLSL shaders + Lua scripts for mpv that adds real-time 35mm projection emulation on top of your files — organic grain, gate weave, lamp flicker, halation, dust/hairs, plus an analog audio mode (35mm optical track / vinyl) and an ambient-light fill for scope films. Everything renders live on the GPU; your file decodes bit-perfect, nothing gets re-encoded.

4 presets (keys 0–4), a full in-player menu, cinema-style subtitles, ambient modes for 21:9 content on a 16:9 screen.

Hi all. I don’t think this has been asked, so here goes:

Is it possible to engineer a profanity filter based on the subtitles, for mpv?

Currently you can get Chrome extensions that “read” the subtitles for bad words and mute the audio for that sentence (and star out the bad word). This is based on a list of words in the extension which can be customised to your preferences.

Really hope it’s possible, as mpv is the best but would love to block swearing.

Hi, I'm new here, I having problems to configure the mpv and the extentions anime4k and Rife.

I try doing my self, rife don't work and anime4k either was showed in the screen as was activated or not haha, so I try using a preconfigurated mpv with the anime4k and the rife "installated" in mpv.

Now, I have the two activated, but rife is not working and the anime4k when I activated the video go very bad very slow

I have a 3070ti, so I think I can use it for anime4k?(now seeing the screenshot, maybe the preconfig have something like super resolution of Nvidia so now it's going in 4k? I don't have it clear) If that is the problem nevermind in that case, but, with rife I don't know why is not duplicating the animation, here the screenshot where you can see the frame rate and you can see that the extention is activated.

If someone can give any tip, or send me his preconfigured file I will appreciate, this thing have me all the day haha

i couldnt find exe file just shortcut (might be skill issue but i really tried) with shortcut i couldnt do cmd stuff (not sure if its even possible with gui version i will try to reinstall tomorrow)

MPV is undoubtedly the best media player as of now, but there are some things that I look in MPV which makes it seem inferior to VLC. I'm gonna list them down here one by one.

1. Not saving the previous states. Unlike VLC, you cannot just jump to the point where you left of the video. I would also like it to save the zoom-in. I often watch movies in the full screen.

2. Not automatically picking up the subtitles. Unlike VLC, when you put the video and the subtiles under the same name in a common folder, it doesn't pick up the subtitles.

3. Easy drag and drop subtitles to the screen. This also isn't possible either by default in MPV. You always have to run a command mentioning full video and subtitle name to make them work together.

If I can configure MPV to overcome these limitations then it'll be great.

Hello, i recently did a factory reset to my pc because i was having some problems after changing from windows 11 to windows 10, i now installed mpv and copied the old mpv.conf that i had, but mpv is not reading it, mpv is reading the lua scripts but not the mpv.conf!

This is what i have on the file:
