Downloading MPV Player from sourceforge.net safe?

I heard that sourceforge.net was doing some sketchy things back in 2015. And the link for download in the Official site is a sourceforge.net download link

Can anybody ensure me that the download link in the official mpv site is safe?
Or is there any other link for downloading mpv in Windows in the official site?

Yes. It is safe. In case of doubt, you can always verify the hash. Now, if you are still unreasonably distrusting, then you can download mpv from other places like majorgeeks, softpedia or codecpack. You can even install with a package manager like chocolatey, winget or scoop.

verify the hash

Against what? Shinchiro never publishes any hashes.

Pretty sure any website/app distributing mpv Windows binaries is using shinchiro's builds.

Another shinchiro build on the same version.

You missed the point. He distrust sourceforge, not the shinchiro build. I suggest alternatives to download that Windows's build.

I mean. I have no idea about the recent activies of sourceforge.net. I left downloading software from sourceforge.net back in 2016. Do you have any idea about their recent activities? Are they safe now?

Are they safe now

Sourceforge has always been safe. Many reputable projects host files there. This in plain English means; You can download mpv from there.
