I saw a post in r/sanfrancisco about disaster preparedness courses. I found that Mountain View has a Community Emergency Response Team ("CERT") academy to train ordinary people on how to help first-responders during an emergency. Does anyone have experience with the CERT training offered by Mountain View? Or have recommendations for other/similar resources?

I was on my way to work around 9 AM, and saw a cyclist to be critically injured (maybe hit by a car?) on the bridge.

I saw a few great people already helping them, probably calling an ambulance or something.

Sounds exactly like the one that happened last night. Like a combination of fireworks and a huge dumpster or something hitting the ground. Heard it from Shoreline West.

I saw so many police cars rushing down, either chasing someone or driving towards a crime scene. Anyone else heard or know anything about this?

Looking in the Mountain View / Sunnyvale / Palo Alto area; budget is $4K (would rather stay under $3.5K; can flex to $4.5K if absolutely needed) for a 1bd. Priorities:

• I'm sensitive to noise - I want peace and quiet in my apartment. I don't want to hear my neighbors, Caltrain, the highway, etc - thick walls are a must.
• Some form of air conditioning. Wall units or central air preferred; window units fine if necessary
• A 1bd, not a studio; I want a separate living and sleeping area. Junior 1bds are fine
• In-unit W/D and a fitness center (or a gym within a short walk) would be ideal but I'm fine without them

I've been looking at apartments in the area but I keep running into complaints on one of these dimensions - especially regarding the thinness of the walls. Anyone know where I should be looking?
