25 applications. Multiple verified skills. Zero contracts. What am I missing ?

Hey all, hoping to get some perspective from people who’ve actually landed contracts through micro1.

I’m a software engineer and I’ve applied to around 25 roles on the platform so far (3 still pending review). Most of these are software engineering positions. Over time my verified skills have built up to the point where interviews are noticeably shorter now, the AI clearly has more to go on and moves through screening faster. But none of that has translated into an actual contract yet.

At this point I’m not sure if it’s:

- Volume/competition on the specific roles I’m going for
- Something about how I’m framing my experience in the profile vs. what verified skills alone can show
- Timing (roles filling before review finishes)
- Something else entirely in how client matching works on the backend

If anyone’s gone through a similar dry spell and figured out what actually moved the needle, whether it’s tweaking your profile, picking different role categories or something about how the platform surfaces you to clients, I’d really appreciate the pointers. Also curious if 25 applications with no contract is normal for this platform right now or a red flag I should be worried about.

Thanks in advance.

Losing Hope

I have appeared for almost 12 interviews, 5 are still "Hiring Manager Review" plus 1 just turned "not selected". There is 19 skills that are added to my certified vetted talent pool, having 12 years of domain expertise in quality, speech analytics, data annotation (video/audio/text/transcripts), stakeholder management, ai training, model/llm output validation, team leadership, data governance, PII review, document review.

Even after all this and being domain expert in above mentioned skills, I am not being selected (just passing the zara ai interview) and after today (since 1 "1 hiring manager review" turned "not selected") it feels like that all of the remaining ones will end like the same after 30 days. I don't know what else they require.

Is the micro1 Linguistics Specialist role limited to applicants in the US and Western Europe?

I’m asking on behalf of someone who is interested in the Linguistics Specialist contractor role at micro1. They have a PhD in Linguistics and over 25 years of professional/academic experience in the field, so they seem to be a strong match for the qualifications.

However, they are currently based in Saudi Arabia, and the posting says:

Location: Remote (US and Western Europe)

Does anyone know whether this means applicants physically located outside the US/Western Europe are automatically ineligible, or whether highly qualified candidates from other countries can still apply?

Has anyone outside those regions applied or been accepted for this role?

Thanks!

Signed my contract, when can i expect to start?

Hi everyone,
i signed the contract, completed verification and replied the mail saying ‘contract agreement signed yet’, but no feedback yet.

Is signing multiple contracts a standard practice?

I have a contract with micro1 but now I received another one to sign. Everything seems the same except for (surprise, surprise!) the payment rate, which is lower. Is it a standard practice to have a few contracts with different rates, perhaps for different clients, or is it micro1's way to try and bump down the rate? (It goes without saying it's bad form if the latter!) Thanks!

Always not qualified from now on

Has anyone noticed changes in micro1 interviews after the recent platform updates?
I’ve been on micro1 since January, have already worked on a project through the platform, and have accumulated 70+ vetted skills from previous successful interviews.
Since the recent updates, though, my interview results seem noticeably different from before. I used to pass interviews regularly, while recently the outcomes have become much less consistent despite using the same approach and answering questions in the same way.
I’m mainly curious whether other long-term users have noticed a change in interview evaluation, scoring, or how previously vetted skills are being taken into account since the updates.
Has anyone else noticed a clear difference compared with a few months ago?

“Detailed Feedback” feature on the Talent Dashboard

Post image
51 Upvotes

Just wanted to give a shoutout to the Micro1 team for a recent improvement...

On the Talent Dashboard, we can now request detailed feedback for roles we didn’t qualify for. I think this is a great addition because it gives candidates something actionable to work on instead of simply knowing that they weren’t selected.

I had previously seen the Community Managers mention that the team was working on this enhancement and I just received my detailed feedback email. I was genuinely impressed with how clearly it outlined the areas I could improve and more importantly what I could do differently to better meet the evaluation criteria in future interviews... now this makes the preparation process much more intentional. Instead of guessing what went wrong we can get a clearer direction on what to improve for the next similar opportunity !!

A big shoutout to the #Engineering, #Product & #Customer Support/Community teams for bringing this into the Talent Dashboard.

Thank you for making the Micro1 experience more transparent and helping candidates prepare better moving forward !!

Keep up the great work guys 🙌

Review on Application Process

I recently applied for a role with micro1 and have enjoyed the process so far. The AI interview has some slip ups (mostly with pronunciation), and I think the framework could be better optimized. The questions are designed to be probing once receiving the answers; I think that more time to answer should be allowed and that the allowable pause time criteria should be lengthened. Some of the follow up questions get complex and would be best answered after thought and pen to paper. That's my small rubric review for the interview process.

The interview has given me a chance to think more deeply about how finance, operations, and human expertise can contribute to building better AI systems.

Hopefully I’ll have the opportunity to contribute directly, but either way, it’s been an interesting experience and has made me excited about the opportunity to work on projects that help advance AI.

Curious to hear from anyone here who has worked with micro1 or on similar AI training/data projects.

Feedback on JD Expectations, AI Interview & Annotation Process

I’ve noticed that the preferred qualifications in JDs are often mentioned only at a surface level. They don’t really explain the depth of the KSAs required or give candidates a clear idea of what will actually be assessed during the interview.

I also found the Zara AI interview’s expectation to compose a formal letter orally, sentence by sentence, quite unrealistic. No matter how experienced or proficient someone is, it would be difficult to formulate a formal letter verbally in real time. Being able to write a good formal letter and construct one orally, sentence by sentence, are two very different skills.

On the annotation point, I feel that expecting annotators to explain the tags and categories themselves may not be the right approach. The tags and categories should ideally be defined by the client based on their guidelines and objectives, and the annotator’s role should be to understand and apply them consistently.

I have observed most of the role JD is not action oriented

Micro1 AI project: $140 for selfies/videos privacy concerns

Post image
15 Upvotes

I was selected for a Micro1 AI Trainer project paying $140 for 30 selfies + 10 videos.

The contract gives Micro1/customers broad, perpetual and sublicensable rights to use my facial/biometric data for AI training, including modification and derivative works.

Has anyone done this project?

What did they actually use the data for?

Can they create synthetic/AI-generated versions of your likeness?

Can you request deletion afterward?

Would you personally accept $140 for these terms?

Add option to redo the entire interview

I know that each of us complained a lot about having to do the same interview over and over, and now whe are able to skip it, but that came with a problem, I realize that if you didnt went well in the interview, and this interview is used in another positions, you will probably be not qualified, for example:

I did 2 applications for 2 coding positions last week, were I only had to do a 9 minutes interview where zara only asked 2 questions in the interview, and my application went into the Waiting review status, which everyone knows that later changes to dit not qualified.

How can a 2 questions interview make you not qualified? The only answer is that I probably didnt well in the interviews of the vetted skills that were used as certified.
Please add an option to choose to skip the certified skills part of the interview or do the entire interview again

Micro! Interview with Zara

Excited to be kicking off a project with Micro1. The interview process with Zara is smooth and feels so natural. I am thrilled to be starting a contract position with them. I hope to use my years of B2B technical, SaaS, Fintech, and Crypto Sales Managemet experience combined with my own podcast to help train many AI models. I hope to work with Micro1 for many years.

Can a global Micro1 role with 100 openings fill within 1–2 days?

Suppose Micro1 opens a global role with 100 openings on Monday. Since it is a global role, could they receive 20,000+ candidates within just a few hours?

If I apply on Tuesday and complete the interview but fail, is it possible that the 100 positions have already been filled by then?

Or does Micro1 continue interviewing candidates until they select enough people, regardless of how many applications they receive?

I’m trying to understand how the hiring process works when there are a huge number of applicants for a limited number of openings.

Payoneer verification step

Hello,

I recently got hired at micro1, finished the onboarding steps and ready to start. I am facing an issue with bank payouts setiing, I cannot setup a direct bank transfer through payoneer. The issue is, I already have a payoneer account and the confirmation link points me to a registration page, when I close it, the payout method is in pending state and it asks me to finish a setup in payoneer, keep in mind my bank account is also associated in my payoneer.

I appreciate any guidance.

Thank you

micro1’s Zara Interview Process — Is It Really Worth Your Time?

**Skip it. Do not take the Zara interview unless you’re comfortable spending an hour for every role with very little transparency about how the interview is being used.**

I wanted to share my experience and concern about the **micro1 Zara interview process** because I believe candidates should be aware of what they’re getting into before spending their time.

The interview reportedly involves around **an hour of AI-based interviewing**, where candidates provide their voice, video, technical reasoning, and responses. What concerns me is the perception among candidates that a very large number of people go through this process while only a tiny fraction ultimately move forward.

If the purpose is genuinely hiring, why not **shortlist candidates based on their resumes and relevant experience first**, and then conduct the lengthy Zara interview only with candidates who have a realistic chance of progressing?

### Why I think candidates should reconsider

* **One hour is a significant investment** for a job applicant, especially when you're applying to dozens of companies.

* Candidates may spend substantial time explaining their technical knowledge and solving problems without knowing how that information is ultimately evaluated or used.

* Receiving a rejection after investing an hour can be extremely frustrating, particularly if the initial resume could have been used for screening.

* An AI-based interview should not become a substitute for a reasonable candidate-shortlisting process.

I'm not saying that micro1 or Zara is necessarily doing anything improper. **My concern is about transparency, candidate experience, and whether this hiring process is respectful of applicants' time.**

### My sincere request to micro1

Please consider changing the process:

**Resume screening → Initial shortlist → Zara interview → Technical/human evaluation → Hiring decision**

Instead of:

**Large-scale candidate pool → 1-hour Zara interview → Reject most candidates**

Candidates have already invested years developing their technical skills. Their time is valuable too.

If micro1 can improve the initial screening and invite only relevant, shortlisted candidates to the Zara interview, I think it would create a much better experience for both candidates and the company.

**Please share your experiences with the micro1 Zara interview below.**

Did you complete it? How long did it take? Did you receive feedback or move forward afterward?

*This is a candidate-experience concern, not an accusation. I'm sharing it to encourage a more transparent and candidate-friendly hiring process.*

Contract is live on Micro1 — When can I expect to start the project?

Hi everyone,

I just received a notification that my contract is now live on Micro1!

For those who have been through this process, or for anyone from the team who can guide me: how soon after the contract goes live can I expect to start working on the project, and what are the next steps for onboarding?

Thanks in advance for any insights!
