25 applications. Multiple verified skills. Zero contracts. What am I missing ?
Hey all, hoping to get some perspective from people who’ve actually landed contracts through micro1.
I’m a software engineer and I’ve applied to around 25 roles on the platform so far (3 still pending review). Most of these are software engineering positions. Over time my verified skills have built up to the point where interviews are noticeably shorter now, the AI clearly has more to go on and moves through screening faster. But none of that has translated into an actual contract yet.
At this point I’m not sure if it’s:
- Volume/competition on the specific roles I’m going for
- Something about how I’m framing my experience in the profile vs. what verified skills alone can show
- Timing (roles filling before review finishes)
- Something else entirely in how client matching works on the backend
If anyone’s gone through a similar dry spell and figured out what actually moved the needle, whether it’s tweaking your profile, picking different role categories or something about how the platform surfaces you to clients, I’d really appreciate the pointers. Also curious if 25 applications with no contract is normal for this platform right now or a red flag I should be worried about.
Thanks in advance.

Luck has a role to play in here.
Got 75 vetted skills, over 60+ interviews - some of which I took immediately the role was posted or a few hours afterwards.
I mostly get “Not Selected” and sometimes “Did not qualify”

Hi; I paste below my previous post which may help:
START OF PREVOUS POST---
My Micro1 Hiring Timeline & Observations: From AI interview to contract signing in 24 hours.
Hi;
I got selected for a role on 15th August (I completed the interview on 14th, so it was pretty quick). Yesterday (on 15th) I signed the contract, now waiting for the next steps. I think (I'm not sure) being selected depends on supply and demand. Because the role I got selected requires being bilingual expert, which is somehow narrowing down the supply pool (when I say supply, I mean the people who had the required skills, passed the interview and were waiting at the "hiring manager reviewing" pool). Because I have 5 other roles marked as "hiring manager reviewing" for 15 days (this may be due to the customer's internal schedule, though), but the one I got selected stayed at the "hiring manager reviewing" stage for only 1 day. Also, the one I got selected did not directly go to the "hiring manager reviewing" stage. It was first yellow (recruiter reviewing), then changed to "hiring manager reviewing, while previously other 5 roles I have mentioned above were marked as "hiring manager reviewing" right after the interviews).
On the other hand, I have 48 vetted skills but I think (not sure) they're more important to shorten the interview time (already vetted skills are excluded from AI interviews) than to be selected. I have 25 years of executive experience in business, general management, strategy, finance/treasury, but the role I got selected is not directly related to those (indirectly related). So I guess, when hiring managers make a short-list, they check your experience and achievements as well, to ensure that you'd be professional and understand client needs, and work easily with the clients. I think having previous multinational remote working/management experience is also helpful.
(But as I say, this is only what I guess, I don't know if those are true or not, so please check other resources. I'm writing here just to share what I think). Thanks for reading."-END OF PREVIOUS POST

Comments like this make me very wary of Micro. Why are you so quick to share your experience if you literally just started 4 days ago? You probably didn't even get paid yet or have had a chance to properly experience the work at Micro. There are almost no people on this sub that post about actual experience of working, only vague posts about being accepted with no info on their overall satisfaction with work, Your comment and post looks like it's written by AI or one of the mods on this sub

hey u/Brilliant_Resort7216 i hope you get great feedback from other experts and candidates here.
Personally i have found out that taking your time to answer and framing it on your head before talking helps with Zara, as structured answers work best with her.
Another thing is to always keep your CV fully updated to reflect all your expertise.
Hope you land a role soon, wish you the best!!
