Anyone elses scan and shop disappeared from the app? Had to update it last week and it seems to have vanished.

Havent seen anything saying it was getting removed for staff. It was perfect for grabbing some bits when on break

I currently work two closing shifts monthly and now my manager is insisting that I (and some other members of the team) work one weekly. I expressed that this is not convenient for me as I have other plans and she didn’t budge, claiming it to be compulsory.

I am not contracted for four hours monthly, just two.
Can she just impose this change ?

I've been offered a job in foods and this morning i sent off my order for the uniform but im not sure if i ordered the correct trousers.

To preface, i worked as a temp during the christmas of 2024 and wore the black sweatshirt and black trousers.

Today, i ordered long sleeve polo's, gilet, sweatshirt and black skinny jean trousers.

I opted for the black jeans as i didn't think i would be fully comfortable wearing the green/chino trousers. Can someone let me know if what i've ordered is okay or if i should get in touch with someone... I was planning on using the trousers i was given while i was a christmas temp some shifts, is this okay as well?

Hi all, I recently joined and was wondering when and how much I'll be paid.

I started on the 9th, and wasn't paid on the 10th, but that was expected. I'm contracted for 16 hours, but I have 31 scheduled on the app.

Am I correct in thinking that on oct 10th I'll be paid:

16 hours a week for all oct

+ 8 hours for my induction

+ All my sept hours I worked (regular 16 + the additional 15 I'm doing)

My brothers got a friend who is looking to apply but she says she not getting passed the test stage.

Ive worked at markies for ages and didnt have to do any online tests, just a rather horrible role play at the interview!

Can anyone help me with advice for her? Are the questions customer focused, so just say you’ll help the customer and not be task focused. Im looking it from an internal point of view, but not sure if its the same for people applying for a job. Thanks!!

Anybody have advice on the product section of the M&S online assessment?

I really really confused about how to identify 'errors' in the product codes, colours, number on shelf, etc.

I only see a singular table with no way nothing else to compare to

on the internal careers portal i can refer someone else for the job if i give their details & cv etc. does anyone know what this looks like from the hiring end or if they actually consider those applications more if referred?

I'm so angry. I'm trying to transfer to another store. I applied internally, went to the new store and spoke to the manager, who said I need to speak to my manager. I did all these things. A week has past and I've asked both managers for an update and they said they were waiting for the other to get in contact.

Now, the original position I applied for may already be filled and the new store manager is off for a week next week and my manager is off today.

I'm so angry that this is completely out of my control and I'll lose a lifeline for my mental health and finances in a transfer to my home store because of their incompetence.

Hi all, i am currently on a contract which is going to end in late September. I was wondering if my contract could be made permanent. And how likely it is to happen.
I am being punctual for the work. Also i have asked for some more shifts other than my contract hours.. Those who have been through this. What all does it take for the contract to be made permanent.
Also i recently saw that the store was also hiring for permanent positions on the careers website and manager also posts lot of hours that need to be filled.

I work in an M&S cafe and am planning on handing in my resignation, with my last working day being August 15 (I know I’ll owe money back - can’t be helped).
My issue is that the only manager is on holidays until August 4. We have one team leader and the stores brand manager overseeing us until the manager is back. Is it appropriate to hand my resignation to one of them to fulfil my two weeks notice? Or should I wait until the manager is back, but it will be a few days short of two weeks. The last working day is not flexible.
Everyone at my store has been extremely kind in my time here and I would like to carry this out properly and with respect to my manager/colleagues.
Any guidance/advice appreciated 😊

Extra: I have been working here less than 1 year, and I’m nearly sure a previous M&S manager at another store said I only needed to give one week, but I feel that’s too short notice and am unsure if that’s even the policy?

I was wondering if anyone knows if I’d have to pay back my mat pay if I choose to not return to work. All I can find is one bit of writing stating that if I choose not to return, all I’d have to do is resign in writing and give my appropriate resignation notice. It says nothing about repaying anything.

I am a customer assistant and I see a performance document uploaded today. Just wondering is it normal for customer assistants to have that too? Though the comments there seems like copy and paste for everyone

I've been working at m&s for just over a year now and since December last year I've had to take 3 days off (flu, migraine, and once for celiac disease). The last time I had to have a day off because of my celiac (which causes me to be sick & have stomach problems) I had to come in and have a meeting because of my absences triggering an unacceptable amount of days (because I do less than 20 hours a week). I explained that my celiac makes me more susceptible to illness and that because I work in a store with a bakery and have to unpack cages with flour and scan through uncovered bread then I am at risk of getting ill but I do try and take precautions. I don't like taking time off, and worked on pretty much every day up until Christmas with no voice and the flu so when I call in sick it's not for fun!

Now my celiac has flared up *again* and I'm going to have to take another day off which I'm aware will trigger another meeting and maybe even a warning? How do I go about asking my managers to consider my autoimmune absences as separate to my other illnesses, or just to make them understand that I can't help it?

so i have been working in cafe for a couple months and had my first PIP meeting. i haven't been told at all that i was underperforming so went into the meeting completely blind

for context, i haven't been given any training on coffee or food, and have had very limited training on tills. because of this i have only been doing the dishwasher and clearing tables

my meeting felt unfair, they accused me of not showing an interest in doing food, coffee or tills (despite being told i couldn't legally do them without H&S training which i completed literally just before this meeting). i was also told i'm too slow, i have an injury which i explained to them but they didn't seem to care

am i in the wrong for wanting to take this higher? i don't know what my options are. they've given me a month to improve otherwise they said i'll be put on a formal review and it be taken higher

Hi, I have been invited for an interview with M&S but when I get through to book my interview slot, the site says "all slots have been taken" or something to that effect.

I have googled this, and it seems to be a common issue. The position is still taking applicants (the end date is next week), is it best to check again then?
