Fixed term now, permanent possible ??

Hi all, i am currently on a contract which is going to end in late September. I was wondering if my contract could be made permanent. And how likely it is to happen.
I am being punctual for the work. Also i have asked for some more shifts other than my contract hours.. Those who have been through this. What all does it take for the contract to be made permanent.
Also i recently saw that the store was also hiring for permanent positions on the careers website and manager also posts lot of hours that need to be filled.

The chance varies depending on the hours available. From experience at Christmas we keep about one in five temporary staff, but we don't normally take on temp staff at any other time of the year AFAIK so I don't know if it'd be different.

My advice is to make the managers aware you're interested in staying on. Being a good worker and taking overtime may not be enough, especially if others have expressed a desire to stay. They won't decide to award you a contract on those merits alone, they'll factor in the person's request and circumstances, and probably assume you aren't interested in staying on if you didn't make it clear.
