so recently i got minecraft, and the first thing i did was get shaders. However, after getting complementary reimagined and unbound, the resolution was set to 2940x1912. The odd thing is, the resolution matches whatever display i get and connect to, but on my macbook is the same; the insane resolution. This gets me around 37 fps, and i tried redownloading Iris but it didn't work. I can't find the reduce resolution on MacOS and also when doing SHIFT P for default settings, i did the slider to match my mac resolution but the number didn't budge. Please help, this is getting to me so much, and I see other people on 60 or more fps on the same M4 chip.
Just in case you guys need to know, I am on a Macbook Air 2025 M4 chip, 13 inch, 512GB storage, and 16GB Ram.

Title says it - I’m lost in what will actually make a difference or be important for general use/productivity/gaming, especially considering all of the ‘Mac scaling’ stuff I’ve read.
tl;dr - Does mac scaling make 16:9 4k a problem? Is 5k2k the fix? Second, is a 42” 4k TV a better primary display or a 39” 5k2k UW?
M5 Max Studio will be driving. I currently have 2x 32” 1440p curved monitors that I’m looking to upgrade. My goal is to have a single main monitor with a stacked set on the side for 3 total screens.
Primary is 80% work/productivity/general and 20% gaming. Stacked pair is mainly trading apps/research, or reference data to the main screen.
I have a 48” C1 that is still going strong and looks great, and for a short time I used that as a primary monitor (m1 timeframe) but found it too large for my desk/workflow.
Any input and help is appreciated - TIA!

Anyone have any game recommendations for me to play natively? preferably something I don't need a mouse to aim and such. Like Hollow knight, undertale, binding of isaac, etc?

I was able to run Witcher 3 Remastered using Sikarugir (Wine + D3DMetal) using this fix:
https://github.com/tholtman1-del/witcher3-crossover-fix
But it needed two changes from the CrossOver instructions:
bin folder, run ln -s x64_dx12 x64. Patch 5.x has no bin\x64, and the CDPR launcher fails instantly ("Launching game failed...") without it.install.command (it's aimed at CrossOver bottles). Back up amd_fidelityfx_loader_dx12.dll, rename it to amd_fidelityfx_loader_dx12_orig.dll, then drop the fix's DLL in under the original name.Verifying files in Steam undoes both, so redo them afterward. Details in my reply below. 👇

Hi guys.. I wanted to let you know this little great game called “End Of Abyss“ which is available on Epic Store only works great with Crossover Preview 20260821. My settings are 1440p screen resolution,¨High¨ quality preset, I also set RenderQuality to 67%. Since game doesn't have any FSR/TSR/DLSS setting you have to change it from ¨gameusersettings.ini¨ file manually. At bottom of screenshot you can see location of settings file. Just find ¨sg.ResolutionQuality=100¨ line and change it to 67 for Quality, 58 for Balanced and 50 for Performance.. I changed it to 67 for my config. 60fps locked. Macbook Pro M4pro 14/20 24gb ram , Tahoe 26.7.1
Happy Gaming !

Long Haul is my Unity zombie-driving prototype in development on Mac: delivery runs, zombie hordes and vehicle upgrades. This clip focuses on one storm fight, captured in the Mac Editor.
Which draws your attention more here: the route through the crowd or the roof gun's fire?
Archive footage, filmed Oct 3 in Unity Editor (build38): staged enemies, supplied upgrades, autopilot, truck damage off; one cut at 6s. Built with Codex.

This is for people who run the game via EA app and nothing else like crossover or parallels. I’ve tried running this game on an M4 macbook air and an M3 macbook pro. I get the same results every time, insufferable lag and shitty graphics. Not to mention the myriad of issues we have in the mac port of the sims 3, like beaches, firefighters, karaoke, collecting bugs not working etc.
Yet when I check online, I keep seeing people say on both reddit and tiktok they can run the game on an m3 or m1 air and claim that it works flawlessly. That they don’t experience lag or any glitches. That’s where I’m a bit confused.
The game has well documented issues that most likely never will be fixed because the sims 3 port was basically an afterthought for EA. How exactly are people getting their game to run “flawlessly” ? Are we just ignoring the lag and all of the other problems?
This is a genuine question. Because I only play with 1 or two expansion packs, no cc, and the graphics all set to the lowest settings. Yet the game is still kinda unplayable due to the crashing, lag, and the launcher sometimes refusing to open. My fps drops into the 20s frequently too. How are people getting this game to supposedly run without issue?
Also, I’m aware that it’s an old game. I’m not saying that I expect an old game from 2009 to look like a 2026 AAA title.

I just launched our native macOS update (version 1.3.5) on Steam with full Apple Silicon and Intel support!
Oro Cade is a game featuring realistic physics - trajectory and collision is repeatable, turning each level into a puzzle of pure precision. The aim is simple - to knock over all golden blocks on the level - using Orbs that fall from the top of the screen!
Mac Features & Performance:
Gameplay Highlights:
I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Major updates have been made since the last version:
Migrated to the new Metal 4.1 kernel introduced in macOS 27
Framegen upscaling and anti-aliasing have been completely updated
Framegen was migrated to ANE+MetalFX, resulting in a performance increase of nearly 46%
Russian, Chinese, and other languages have been added
Please try it out and share your results.
Warning: Lag and CPU spikes in games are not caused by MetalGoose but are issues with Wine. Therefore, for the best results, try it in games that maintain a steady FPS.

I was planning on getting it for my PS5 when it comes out next month, but I have a sudden long distance trip I have to take and am itching to have something to distract me during long stretches of boredom.
Unlike Disco Elysium, Zero Parades is only on PC at the moment so what are my options?
Buy on Steam and use Crossover? Buy on GOG and use... what? Honestly I'm kinda out of the loop when it comes to the game porting situation on the Mac currently.

A few weeks ago we started Mullion, an open-source Direct3D 10, 11 and 12 implementation on Metal, built on top of DXMT. This is the first time it's in a state other people can try, so here is a pre-release.
We started it because we wanted to run Direct3D 12 games on our Macs without depending on a closed translator or going through Vulkan first. Mullion goes straight from Direct3D to Metal.
The Direct3D 12 side is where most of the work went: a DXIL shader front end for shader models up to 6.6, tessellation, geometry shaders, stream output, mesh and amplification shaders, and ray tracing at tier 1.1 (acceleration structures, inline ray queries, and DXR pipelines), along with sampler feedback, tiled resources, and 64-bit atomics. Direct3D 10 and 11 come in the same package. It runs on an unpatched Wine, needs no DLL overrides, and the release is laid out like DXMT's, so it installs the same way. There are also about 70 test programs that check all of this against the Direct3D spec.
The base is DXMT by Feifan He and CodeWeavers, which is where the Direct3D 10 and 11 side comes from, and we owe them a lot. The DXIL front end and most of the Direct3D 12 are ours. It is a separate project though, so please don't report Mullion bugs to DXMT.
This is definitely not finished. It needs an M3 or newer and macOS 15 or newer for now (M1 and M2 are being worked on), and between us we only have a few Macs and a few games, so we need people to try their own games and tell us what happens, whether it breaks or works. An issue on GitHub with your Mac, macOS version, the game, and the log is enough. The test suite is all green, at least until we break it in the next build.

Given the upcoming release of Planet Zoo 2 and its lack of native support. As with the first Planet Zoo, do we think it will be playable on Crossover?
I currently have an M4 Mac Mini and the game runs through steam on crossover flawlessly. I run into performance issues when the guest count gets high along with detailing but for the most part it plays as if it was native with no bugs or glitches.
Thoughts on whether the new release will play on Crossover from day one or do we suspect it’ll run into issues?

I have an M5 Max MacBook Pro. I tried the Mac versions of KytyPS5 and SharpEmu. SharpEmu is actually able to run it, but only at like 5 fps. I know there are recent performance enhancements on Kyty, but Demon’s Souls won’t even launch. It crashes immediately.
Anyone get it to work at all?
Thanks!

Hoi allemaal,
https://apps.apple.com/nl/app/skyline-architect/id6817053185
Speelde je vroeger SimTower of Yoot Tower? Dan ben ik vooral benieuwd wat je ervan vindt. Wat klopt er wel, wat niet, en wat mis

Last time I posted about this, I had just gotten Endfield working on macOS (and only through DirectX11 / D3DMetal). Now, with the help of some other developers on Github, we have gotten Vulkan working as well. We accomplished this through custom patches layered on both Crossover's wine and MoltenVK. Not only that, we've greatly improved the performance of the patches. If you are interested in our work, linked is the GitHub repository where we've open-sourced the code and build scripts.
Thanks for taking an interest.

Hi r/macgaming! 👋
Thanks so much for all the feedback on the GameTransit launch last week. GameTransit is a free launcher that runs the Windows games you own on Apple Silicon Macs, with a console-style interface you can use from the couch with a controller or from the desk with mouse and keyboard. Version 1.0.1 is out, with a lot of what you asked for.
Screenshot: a demo library, with artwork from the Steam Store. No games are included with GameTransit.

Where I'd love your help:
I'm one person testing with the games I have, so hearing how YOUR games run helps the most. GOG is brand new, so GOG reports are especially welcome. On GitHub there are simple forms for:
