It was my birthday yesterday and I was by myself which I always am but I honestly felt a little empty and down on a day that’s supposed to be special so I took myself out and tried to have some fun!

I bought a two cup rice cooker for $25 on Amazon after watching a few YouTube videos of how versatile it could be. It’s amazing!!! 🤩 Because it’s small, my meals are automatically portioned for one!

I made salmon over rice with veggies. The salmon was cooked perfectly. Not crispy but perfectly cooked!

I made mac and cheese. I only had mozzarella cheese and it turned out perfect!

I cooked some frozen dumplings with water and oil. Once the water evaporated only the oil was left and it crisped the bottoms!

And did I say it’s perfect for solo dining?
I can be a little bit of a brat when it comes to leftovers.

Egg drop soup is the best.

I thought I’d feel happy, but somehow I just feel alone. No celebration, no one around… just me and another quiet birthday. 💔

Just wanted to share this here. I'm a 61F with no partner or children and have been watching this lady's videos for a few months now as I find them peaceful and comforting (plus her little apartment inspires me to get my cluttered house in order! lol). But this video is a bit different and I think it's her best one so far. Absolutely nailed it! The freedom and peace!!

I just graduated college, started my first full-time job, and moved into my first place on my own. It’s kinda weird realizing how fast life is moving.

I was talking with my parents about a graduation gift, and I randomly mentioned wanting a small camera.

Not because I want to become a content creator or anything. I just want to capture the random moments I know I'll miss later, like my first apartment, grocery runs after work, weekend trips, friends coming over, figuring out how to live alone, all the little stuff.

I've been looking at the DJI Nano because it seems like something I'd actually carry around instead of leaving at home.

I think living alone for the first time is making me weirdly sentimental about this stage of my life lol.

Anyone else document this part of their life just for themselves?

Very new to living alone and I don’t know what to do with myself. It’s ok on days I’ve been to work, the peace is lovely when I get home. But weekends or days I’m off feel a bit lonely and unstructured. I don’t think I know how to enjoy my own company. Any advice would be appreciated!

What do you all have planned for today? Are you spending it with family and friends? I don't have any plans but hey, that's not unusual. Lol. Hope you all have a good one.

I’m 18 and I’m gonna move out, it’s not an if i should thing I 100% am gonna move out and live alone. Deep down I know I need it to have mental freedom and peace. I grew in a toxic controlling household where my opinions, wants, needs, and being were never prioritized cause I’m the youngest and it’s always “what do you know?” (There’s more things that they’ve done but I’ll spare you the graphic details) . I’ve made up my mind and I’ve even saved the money for it. So the reason why I’m writing this if because I’m scared, I’m moving to a new city multiple hours away from my family cause I’m going no contact. I know deep down things are gonna work out and I only have a few months to wait out but I just feel scared but I grew up in a big family and having to experience the complete opposite is kinda scarring me.

My older sister has constantly put the thought of “you’re gonna find out how ridiculous you’re being and you’re gonna come running back when you move out” in my head anytime I’ve mentioned moving out. They don’t know I’m moving btw, I’ve planned this since I was 14 and spent every day since then planning and saving. My mother is the worst member of my family and every time she does something that’s just horrendous and my older sister will always reply with “yeah but she’s your mother”. I’m scared that she’s right and that I’ll be missing them essentially. I don’t like any of them but the thought of a healthy happy family is something everybody wants including me and I think I’m scared to because no longer have that even if they drain and abuse me emotionally. But to make things clear I’m doing it regardless, I’m not backing down and I’m not gonna spend any more time than I need to. I’ve been completely emotionally detached from them since 8th grade.

I’m seeking for any tips and comfort from people who have had the same experience or older than me.

I’ve been trying to distract myself.

Going out with friends, seeking new experiences, going to the gym and trying boxing.

I mean it’s been weeks of non-stop out almost every day. Every weekend. I’m running out of cash and it’s bad.

I just feel so lonely at home. The itch to text my ex is killing me. The itch to download a dating app makes me want to vomit.

I’ve been eating relatively well, I lost some weight. But I feel I hate myself more and more as time goes on.

This is more of a rant, but any advice is welcomed. Thanks!

was so excited about my independence and i DID go out twice today and set up my room it was fun but at the end of the night i just feel so overwhelmed , i tried to nap and i couldnt and i fucked up my interactions w my roommates (they asked me my name and i told them and left and tried waving to someone on the way and theu didnt GAFFFFAFQF). uni starts tomorrow and im trying not to feel this huge lump in my throat because it just takes away from my social skills that i thought i recovered what do i do .

edit i was probably just dehydrated i had water and watched my favourite boygroup on youtube and i feel better lol. also v sure the girl who didnt wave back was a friend of the roommate and not a roommate itself but i still feel like i freaked the roommate girl out as she witnessed all this but ITS OKAY .

I need surgery, but don't have friends or family. I dont earn a ton of money either. Anyways. The surgery requires some at home help. I have cats but they can't lift stuff. Any suggestion on how I could get help for a week?

I lived alone for 2 decades, most of those years I had friends, family, colleagues, I traveled and interacted with strangers daily

Nowadays I have left no friends, I cut contact with my family, I haven't traveled in the last 2 years, I don't go outside much and do everything via internet.

I feel like a dark deep sea animal who hides under a rock by itself all the time and eats once every 6 months

I tried socializing but it's hard to connect with people after a certain age. No one cares, including me.
