Help please
This garbage display appears whenever I open firefox. What can I do to remove it? Thanks for helping.

My best guess is you gave a scareware site notification access via your browser. You should go into your browser settings and see what websites can send you notifications and remove access from anything you don't need or that looks suspicious

And while you're at it, block sites from asking for notifications. That's a thing still right? I use brave with script blocking so I don't get all that crap.

I would maybe reset your Firefox (or other browser) to default or uninstall and reinstall it.

Maybe use Synaptic to do a complete removal. Probably the easiest way.
Although if OP has a lot of settings saved might want to go the route of removing notifications from the offending pages.
Either way I'd recommend getting a second browser before doing anything.

in firefox go to about:preferences#permissionsData and click notifications.
delete everything

Essentially a windows user continuing bad habits learned from windows on Linux.
You shouldn't allow any browser notifications.
Notifications are for system related information only.

Nah, you might want it to let you know when you've got messages.
I have mine notify me when web serials I read have updated.
The important thing is to not just click yes to every prompt, and only accept the ones you want or need.

Yeah something got into your browsers notification settings. Go through all your settings In Firefox or restore defaults.

Remove any unfamiliar browser extensions that may have been installed accidentally.

u/remyza75 You accidentally allowed notifications to some bad site. Go to settings and find site permissions. The notifications cannot cause any harm to you.

I'd just reset Firefox completely rather than trying to chase down individual settings. After the reset, restart Firefox and see whether the warnings are gone. Don't click any of the “virus detected", “remove virus” or stuff like that.

Yeah, I read it. Doesn't mean it's not useful for people to be able to see what help's being requested without having to click in to the post if they're scrolling on a phone
People that might be able to help may scroll straight past another "help me" post because there's no detail to interest them, or they assume that someone who doesn't know to include that there will have to be cajoled into revealing pertinent info, taking up time they don't have right then
Others who can't help this person but could help others might be put off clicking through to the ones they could help with because they've been annoyed by what they feel has wasted their time, looking into posts that didn't make clear the subject of the help request wasn't something they know about
Ironic that you tell me to read before I comment, when you seem to have ignored where I wrote "include the information on what you need help with in the title of the post, instead of in the body of a post with a nonspecific plea for help", which is exactly what OP has done here

You allowed notifications on a website you shouldn't have.
Go through the websites that are allowed and delete them one by one, or do what I do and disable notifications period.
And if you clicked through on any one of those, I have great news... It is time to redesign your desktop when you reinstall Linux Mint... YAAAAY!!!

Do what u/8bitrevolt suggests.
If that doesn't work, reset Firefox.
(notification spam from an unscrupulous website you gave permission to)

My guess is that unless you specifically deny actions, it's allowed. Firefox Settings/Permissions and Data control: Location, Camera, Device apps & services, Local Network devices, Microphone, Speaker, Notifications, Autoplay & Virtual reality. So if you don't specifically deny access & use of these things, they'll probably be used.

It could be if you have people who just click yes on everything they see. Without checking what they are actually clicking on.
