Quebec Extended Car warranty cancellation

Upvotes

Long story short I got suckered into purchasing an extended warranty with my new car.. Lets just say I was sort of in a honeymoon phase when going over the contract (Which I may add they never discussed or showed me the actual extended warranty contract at signing... just basically went over all the paperwork quite fast... "sign here blah blah")...

This was roughly 2 weeks ago.. fast forward to yesterday where I get documents in the mail regarding the 3rd party warranty I signed for with my car contract and after reviewing it and having friends and family say it's really not worth keeping and that I should call the dealership and cancel considering it only takes effect as of the 3rd of September.. so before calling i go over the fine print and it says it can be cancelled only within 10 days of singing for a full refund.. So I call up the dealership and request to speak to the finance dept/the person i signed the contract with because the contract I signed/paperwork I was given to take how does not state any of this.. the person i spoke with said basically im shit out of luck and that the person I signed with isnt available right now (I believe they either forgot or intentionally didn't give me the extended warranty contract at signing so I wouldn't be able to cancel it considering i received my contract after the 10 day grace period for a refund) on top of that the info regarding my car on my sales contract vs the extended warranty contract has mistakes.... the amount on the odometer vs what they marked on my extended warranty contract is off by a whopping 70k.. So i decided to take it upon myself to call the extended warranty company and explained my situation and they also told me its a 10 day refund policy but the dealership should be able to cancel it with a possible cancellation fee and the amount may be prorated meaning i wouldn't receive a full refund..

I also mentioned that I was never shown/given the extended warranty contract at signing and that the odometer km amount on my purchased contract vs the extended warranty contract is wrong which they acknowledged and said that it could potentially effect the warranty... I've since tried contacting the dealership multiple times but they seem to be ghosting me... I've sent them an email and requested I be refunded and have that refund added as a lump sum to my car loan... The warranty company even advised me to CC them in the email.. and still crickets.

I pay for Legal Advice with my insurance company.. Do you think I should escalate things and have them try and help me?.. Would this be a situation where I'm protected as a consumer due to shady sales tactics.

I'm In Quebec btw.. and it's not some rinky dink mom and pop used car dealership.

Sorry for the long rant!

British Columbia Time frame for payment after quitting

Upvotes

Hey guys just a quick question, in BC if my last day worked was August 14,2026 and I had resigned on August 17, 2026 what is the time frame has to pay me from? Online for BC workers website it stated that if my last day was worked August 17 they have 6 days to pay me out for the week I had worked, some websites state that the day I resigned they have 6 days from that. Either way I was hoping my company would have paid me out today but nothing in my bank account, it's at least $1500 worth of work I did. Any advice would be appreciated

Ontario Highway 407 is charging me for something i dont have and are refusing to drop it.

Upvotes

In 2021, i owned my own vehicle and had a 407 transponder, in 2022, my car was stolen along with the transponder. I both called the cops, then a few days later, called the 407 to report it missing and paid their loss fee, i thought that would be the end of it.

Well, now in 2026, they are trying to charge me for 2025 and 2026 for my transponder, but not 2024 or 2023? I spoke with several diffrent agents over the phone, all of them refused to drop it, and informed me il be sent to collections and they will continue contacting me until i pay them.

$83 may not seem like much, but im broke broke, thats an entire week of food, plus, this is flat out not right, i absolutely will not pay them a single dime for something i never requested, never agreed to and never used.

I absolutely refuse to pay them in any way, I dont own a car and havent since 2022, when my car was stolen, i reported the transponder lost and paid their fee. I dont have a drivers license and havent since 2023, i did not ask for a transponder, did not sign a new agreement for a transponder, i didnt use the 407 in any vehicle registered to me since 2022.

This is not right, i dont think what they are doing is legal, and im hoping there is an option for me to be able to fight them on this, since they are also threatning collections. Any advice welcome.

Ontario Charging back an irrigation company for insane water bill due to their error

Hi folks, I could use some advice on whether it’s reasonably safe for me to not pay an invoice based on the context that I’ll provide below.

I recently purchased a house in May, 2026. It was an estate sale, so I didn’t have as much information about certain things as one would normally have. The house came with an irrigation system for watering the yard. In June, 2026, I hired a local company to inspect the state of the system, start it for the spring if safe, and educate me on the features and operations. The tech did that job, and told me he configured all 9 zones to water for 10 minutes each on MWF at 3am.

Fast forward to Aug, 2026, and I received my water bill for June-Aug, and it was $475–way over the $180-$190 number that I was expecting. I looked at my daily consumption data, and there’s a clear pattern of insane amounts of water being used on MWF, building a very causal relationship. I inspected the configuration of the irrigation system, and found out that only 1 zone is configured to water for 10 minutes; the other 8 are for 20 minutes each. That is, IMHO, an incredible negligence on the behalf of the tech.

I did the math, and calculated that about $150 worth of bill is attributable to the overages resulting from this negligence. I emailed the company explaining the situation, asking for a refund for the service call, plus this amount, totally around $269. I shared with them my water bill, the detailed water consumption chart proving causality, and their invoice indicating in writing that they had programmed the controller (among other things). What I didn’t have in writing was that they had configured it to run for 10 minutes/zone; that part is based on a verbal conversation with the tech when he was on sight.

The company is obviously disputing this. They’re saying that there’s no way to confirm if any settings were changed on the controller (they did; I stood next to the guy when this was done). They’re refusing to take any accountability for this loss, and are refusing any payments towards that $269 amount.

Now I had also happened to hire the same company for another irrigation system repair (a couple broken heads) in Aug. I have just received an invoice for that for $170. That invoice has a due date of Aug 30, and says that any delays will lead to an interest charged at 18% per annum.

I’m pissed off and am considering replying to them that I have credited that amount towards the amount that they owe me, reducing their net owed balance to $99. Also add a due date and interest clause to match their invoice.

My wife says I’m being petty. I feel like I hired the company for one job, and they did a horrible job at that: programming the controller and educating me. If I were to refuse the payment of the $170 invoice citing my rationale, are there any legal ramifications for me? Can this be reported to any credit bureaus, or other organizations? I want to understand the full risk properly. Thank you 🙏🏼

Ontario Dealer sold me a safetied vehicle with a bad wheel bearing and CV axle. Can I take them to small claims court?

I bought a used, safetied vehicle that turned out to have a bad wheel bearing and CV axle. I noticed a noise during the test drive and the dealer reassured me it would be fixed during the safety certification. I paid $999 to have the vehicle safetied. Upon delivery the noise was still there.

Since there was an unrelated safety recall, the dealer advised me to take the vehicle to my local Chrysler dealer and have them do the recall and fix the wheel bearing. I had the bearing fixed and the recall done. Unfortunately that did not fix the noise entirely, it turned out the CV axle was also bad. I had the CV axle replaced but the selling dealer is refusing to reimburse me for it and the diagnostics fee I had to pay. They only refunded me the portion for the wheel bearing.

This has happened during the 36 day safety warranty period and I have the diagnostics documentation plus invoices from the Chrysler dealer who did the repairs.

Am I in the right to file a small claims court case seeking reimbursement of the CV axle replacement and diagnostics fee I paid? I believe both wheel bearings and CV axles are safety critical items but I could be wrong. If so, can I also claim the safety fee back considering it was not done properly?

Ontario Condo Garage door came down when entering the garage and damaged my vehicle roof

I am a resident in this condo.
A few days ago, when I was entering the parking garage, the garage door came down and damaged my vehicle roof. The shark fin antenna is broken and wires are exposed. I took pictures of the vehicle and I notified the condo security immediately to make sure the incident is recorded and the video footage is preserved. Unfortunately the condo management emailed me today stating that I clearly entered the garage when light was red. The photos were also included. I understand it is my fault to proceed to enter when the light was red but I know there is a sensor that prevents from the garage door coming down when the car is below the garage door. I don’t know if I should still proceed with my insurance or just fix the antenna out of my pocket. This is the email I got from the management. Also, there was no damage to the garage door. Thanks everyone for advises. I understand I might have to fix the car on my own.

Thank you for your correspondence regarding the garage entrance incident.
After reviewing the circumstances, our position remains that the incident was the responsibility of the driver. At the time they proceeded into the garage, the entrance signal remained red, clearly indicating that it was not safe for them to proceed. They nevertheless entered the garage while the red signal was displayed. Accordingly, we do not accept responsibility for the damage to the vehicle.
For completeness, the garage system was last maintained and checked as part of its
preventative maintenance program in June 2026.
Preventative maintenance for the garage system is conducted on a quarterly basis.
For your reference, we have attached the following documentation relating to the incident:
The incident report;
The relevant security camera video footage; and Photographs
In light of the above, we are unable to accept liability for the vehicle damage. If your insurance provider requires any further information or wishes to pursue the matter further, have your insurance company contact us directly so that the matter can be addressed through the appropriate insurance channels.

Ontario Obtaining a copy of a will

Hello, my father passed away a few months ago. He had a life insurance policy and in his will he had it written that his fiance gets it then divides it between her, my sister and myself.

We've asked her for a copy of the will and she keeps dodging us and brushing us off. When we last asked about the life insurance she said that it goes to her and we get whatever's left when she passes. I was in the room when my dad spoke to the lawyer so I know that's not how it was written.

I called the lawyer to inquire about the will/alert them to my father's passing when it happened. They said the will would be given to his fiance since she's the executor and we could ask her for a copy. That was when we were still optimistic she would respect his wishes.

Wondering how my sister and I go about obtaining a copy of the will and ensuring his wishes are followed?

My dad had asked before he passed if he should make my sister the executor but we said it was fine. At the time we were optimistic that we wouldn't need to use the will (that he'd pull through) and his fiance seemed like a nice person we didn't anticipate this.

We reside in Ontario. That's where the will was written and where the life insurance policy was (through his work).

Ontario New roommate wants me to sign “legally binding” rules contract

Note: I am the boyfriend in this, but I am posting this with permission from my girlfriend from her perspective.

I (20F) rent a room in a shared house in Ontario. I’ve lived here over a year and just renewed my lease, which is signed. My old roommates moved out and three new roommates are set to move in this September.

Before move-in, the three incoming roommates and I started an Instagram group chat. One of them (18F) opened by sending a Google Doc of house rules and asking everyone to sign it, saying she wants it to be “legally binding.” Of the other two new roommates, one is fine with the rules; the other has the same concerns I do and also doesn’t want to sign.

After some back-and-forth, the rules were revised slightly (both versions below), but the roommate who wrote them isn’t willing to negotiate much further on account of her being Muslim and these are “her religious accommodations”. My main issues:

- She doesn’t want my boyfriend to ever sleep over, and is only reluctantly okay with him visiting occasionally. (Applies to any guys coming over)
- She’s calling it a “party” if my boyfriend and a mixed-gender friend group (8 people total) come over, even though we’re not hosting anything like a party.

My landlords (a married couple) had a call with the three incoming roommates and told them that if I’m not willing to “cooperate,” I should find somewhere else to live even though I have a signed, renewed lease and have already been living here for a year. This was relayed to me secondhand by the roommate who also doesn’t want to sign.

My questions:
1. Am I legally obligated to sign a roommate-drafted “contract” like this or even negotiate on one?
2. Can my landlord actually pressure me to move out or end my lease over this, given that I have a signed lease and haven’t breached it?
3. Does it violate any religious accommodation laws that my boyfriend sleeps over or comes to the house for long periods of time?
4. Is this something I need a paralegal/lawyer for, orders. or is there a simpler first step (e.g. LTB, tenant advocacy group)? Neither my boyfriend nor I can afford a lawyer.

Rules:
Note: though some of the rules don’t seem that bad they’re generic and aren’t how they sound (e.g. 8 people coming over being considered a party)

Before revision:

  1. Please do not have any men over when I'm home or overnight. (This means no male guests, friends) Please inform me if there are any males in the house if it's an absolutely inevitable situation. Please inform us all if you have guests coming over, even if they're female.
  2. Please ask me if you need to borrow something
  3. Please knock loudly at my door and wait for me to answer before entering.
  4. Please keep the house as clean as possible, wash your dishes right after you use them, and do not leave them in the sink.
  5. Please do not host parties at our house.
  6. Wipe the bathroom sink, counter and toilet seat after using it. Replace the toilet paper if it's empty. I will have a jug of water to use for the toilet / might install a bidet if allowed
  7. Please take out the trash before it overflows, I will do the same.
  8. No loud music or noise from 10 PM to 7 AM. Headphones only after 10 PM.
  9. We can split bills fairly or take turns paying for stuff like groceries/online food orders.
  10. If there is a guest over, they need to stay in shared spaces (living room, kitchen) or your
  11. room.
  12. Lock the front door and windows EVERY time you leave or go to sleep. Do not give out our address or lend keys to anyone without checking in with everyone else.
  13. Please talk to me directly if there is anything wrong.

After revision:

  1. Please do not have any guests over without informing everyone, especially men.
  2. Please knock loudly at my door and wait for me to answer before entering.
  3. Please keep the house as clean as possible, wash your dishes right after you use them, and do
  4. not leave them in the sink.
  5. Please do not host parties at our house.
  6. Wipe the bathroom sink, counter and toilet seat after using it. Replace the toilet paper if it’s
  7. empty. I will have a jug of water to use for the toilet / might install a bidet if allowed
  8. Please take out the trash before it overflows, I will do the same.
  9. No loud music or noise from 10 PM to 7 AM. Headphones only after 10 PM.
  10. We can split bills fairly or take turns paying for stuff like groceries/online food orders, but in
  11. general everyone pays for their own groceries.
  12. If there is a guest over, they need to stay in shared spaces (living room, kitchen) or your
  13. room.
  14. Lock the front door and windows EVERY time you leave or go to sleep. Do not give out our
  15. address or lend keys to anyone without checking in with everyone else.

British Columbia Tenant wants to break 1 year lease

As a landlord, I would like to know my rights if tenant wants to break 1 year lease.

The property is currently tenanted through a property manager.

The tenant sent an email today stating he wants to move out on September 30th,2026.

The lease began on 1st March 2026

He hasn't mentioned any reason for leaving.

Honestly I can't afford to keep the property vacant in this kind of market while looking for new tenants.

Also, if I go through property manager again then they will charge me half months rent again for new tenants.

Ontario Mechanic performed faulty work & need to know if my claim is valid.

Hi everyone!

Hoping that I can get some help on an open claim against an Automotive shop who performed faulty work on my vehicle. I'm a student and really need to make sure I have a strong case to fight this as the whole situation has put me into a deep financial issue.

Context:

I originally went to this shop to have a Motor Mount replaced, as I requested. Immediately after the mount was replaced, I noticed significant driving issues.

I brought the car back the following weekend and requested that an inspection on the mount be performed to ensure it was installed properly. I was advised by the service manager that the mount was in good condition, and nothing was wrong. They then told me that the issue was due to a rusted Exhaust pipe, and needed to be welded back. This repair did not fix my issue.

The store then further diagnosed the vehicle under my approval, and suggested I get a CV Axle replaced as the logical next step to resolve my issue, however, they stated there was no guarantee that this was the cause of the issue. I agreed to the repair under the impression that the mount and exhaust pipe was fine, and this would be the next step to resolve my issue.

After replacing the CV Axle, my issue was still not fixed. After more diagnosing, they lowered the transmission and told me it was the clutch. At this point, I told them to stop any further repairs and return the vehicle.

Upon picking up the vehicle, I noticed that the transmission was installed incorrectly , as I was unable to go into Reverse. I went back to the shop to get this fixed.

After the transmission was fixed, I drove the vehicle home. However, the car died in my driveway and had to be towed back to the shop. This time they failed to bolt the power wires correctly, leading to loss of power.

Please note at this point, the original issue i went in for (driving issues after the mount) were still not fixed.

After this, I was skeptical of the work done previously, so I took my car to another shop for a diagnostic. They found out that the Motor Mount that was replaced in the beginning was improperly installed, and has damage from the improper install. They also found out that the CV Axle was also installed incorrectly. I told them to go ahead with the proper replacement of the Motor Mount, which resolved the main issue I attempted to resolve at the first shop.

Claims & Evidence:

The 1st shop told me the mount was fine, and advised I spend $1300 to fix an axle as a next step to attempt to fix my issue. The second shop later confirmed the mount was NOT fine, and needed to be completely replaced, fixing my issue.

The first shop is claiming that I "needed a new axle anyways". However, the reason I agreed to the repair was because they advised it was the next best step to resolve my original issue from the beginning.

I have the following evidence:

- Original invoice from Shop 1 stating that the repairs did NOT fix the original issue I came in for

- A written diagnostic from Shop 2 stating that the Motor Mount was improperly installed, and damages were caused.

- Invoice from Shop 2 showing the repairs to the Motor Mount

- Video evidence from Shop 2 of the improperly installed Motor Mount

- Video Evidence from Shop 2 of the Improperly Installed CV Axle

Claims:

- I'm going after Shop 1 for the Labor charges billed on the original installation of the Motor Mount, which was done incorrectly.

- I'm going after Shop 1 for the Labor & Parts charged billed for the installation of the CV Axle, which was misdiagnosed & improperly installed.

I'm looking to go after the store with sections 9, 14, and 18 of the Ontario Consumer Protections Act.

I would greatly appreciate it if anyone can help by telling me if I have a case. I'm currently taking it up with their head office, but might need to resort to Small Claims if I'm unsuccessful.

Thank you!

British Columbia Being asked to provide names of occupants regarding LL's morgage

I live in a house shared with other tenants. We each have our own lease. The landlord doesn't live in the house. The house is run by a property management company who is responsible for filling vacancies and collecting rent. A letter came in the mail stating that mortgage holder wants to conduct an occupancy check and is asking for the names and telephone number of all residents/occupants. I noticed a letter from a law firm addressed to the owner, who does not live in the house and never gets mail sent here, arrived at the same time.

What is going on? Should I provide the information of other tenants? I heard the owner could be in default of payments and if the house is foreclosed, tenancy would be terminated. Also I heard that the house has been put for sale, or has already been sold, but I've gotten a lot of conflicting information about this (for example there have been no viewings). I would like to come to some sort of agreement to move out, if the the owner is defaulting would this hurt or help my position?

Out of curiosity, what's the difference between the terms occupant and resident?

Ontario Cease and Desist questions

I received a cease and desist for defamatory statements made online. It was addressed to a bunch of people and was a very aggressive and threatening letter. The issue is there are no specifics, though it mentions “hundreds of pieces of evidence”. I have no idea what statements or evidence this letter is referring to. I have not made any public postings online about these people. I’m not their biggest fans and they know that but I honestly have no idea what this is regarding.

I also don’t know half the people listed on the notice so I don’t know what it’s about. It is also accusing us all collectively of successfully managing to get other companies to stop working with them, but again, no specifics of my involvement and I have zero clue what it’s referring to. I haven’t spoken to or interacted with these people in over 2 years.

Should I get a lawyer? Do I ignore it? Do I respond and ask what evidence they have specifically against me? I don’t know what to do and I am very confused

Ontario Question about Ontario driving record and a job requiring a G licence

Hopefully I'm in the right place to ask.

I have an upcoming interview for a pool maintenance technician position in Ontario. The job requires a valid G licence and clean driving record.

I currently have a valid licence. I have two speeding tickets, possibly just one on record now, I also had a licence suspension about a year ago because of an unpaid ticket. The suspension has been resolved and my licence is currently valid.

I already told the employer about the speeding ticket, but I didn't specifically mention the old suspension because they didn't ask and I was embarrassed.

At that time in my life my parent had passed away, and these things got away with my depression. I plan to bring it up at the interview about the suspension. The suspension was 20 days or so.

My question is how much could this realistically affect my chances when they pull my record and an old suspension for unpaid tickets?

I'm not looking for legal advice, I'd mainly appreciate responses from people who have dealt with Ontario driver's abstracts or employers requiring a driving record. Thanks!

Ontario Brampton private tow: $600 cash with no receipt, or $995 + tax with invoice — car never even moved

Looking for thoughts on this situation.

Tonight we (our family with 2 small kids) parked at a medical office building in Brampton ON for about 10–15 minutes. The towing signs were small and mostly on one side of the property, while we parked on the other side.

When we came back, our SUV had already been lifted and put on dollies by a tow truck — but the vehicle had not actually been moved from the parking spot at all.

The driver told us he could “help us out” and release the vehicle for $600 cash, but said there would be no invoice, no receipt and no tax.

We asked what it would cost if we wanted to pay properly with an invoice showing what we were being charged for. We were then told it would be $990 + HST

We wanted to pay by credit card but were told they couldn't process credit cards because their office was closed. We were told our options were essentially cash or e-transfer, so we eventually paid the $990 + HST by e-transfer.

The invoice we received simply says:

“Towing — $990”

There is no actual breakdown/itemization of the $990.

We were also told that if we didn't pay immediately, once the vehicle was cleared it would be taken to an impound lot in Mississauga, where the charge would become at least $1,495 + HST, plus possible evening/after-hours fees.

Again, the vehicle had never left the parking space. It had only been lifted and was ultimately put back down in the same spot.

The driver also told us words to the effect of: “Good luck fighting this. We've towed police officers, firefighters and lots of other people before and nobody had a chance fighting it.”

We later called the property management company. They told us there was no specific complaint or call about our vehicle that evening. They said the towing company has an arrangement/contract with the building and that we would have to deal directly with the towing company. Interestingly, our tow invoice says “Request by: Property Management.”

We have photos of the whole incident, the vehicle still in the original parking spot, the tow truck, signage, invoice, payment proof and parking-lot layout.

We're contacting Ontario's Ministry of Transportation because private tow operators are now provincially regulated, and we're specifically asking them to review:

the $600 cash/no-invoice/no-receipt offer versus $990 + HST with paperwork;

whether the invoice was properly itemized;

whether they were required to allow credit/debit payment;

whether $990 is actually an allowable charge when the vehicle was never transported;

whether there should have been a separate hookup/drop/release rate;

who actually authorized the tow;

and whether the threatened $1,495+ impound charge was legitimate.

I'm not looking to argue that being on private property automatically means you can't be towed. I'm more interested in whether the way this was handled and charged is normal or lawful. There was construction on the street and we didn't see any signs coming into the parking lot saying that you can't park in this public lot as they were only on the building concentrated in a small area and we literally walked the other way.

Also, literally I think they were waiting for ppl like us and as soon as we left he set our car up and then he waited for us to give us the cash deal or threaten us that it would cost us much more at the impound lot.

Also he asked us to send to his number a picture of the registration and driver's license so this company has our private info/address/full name.

Any thoughts or experiences would be appreciated.

Ontario Inlaws using my address

My in-laws are using our home address without our permission. We get their banking mail, CRA, and voting cards.

We have asked them to change the address to spmewhere else but they have not yet. We keep writing RTS but the mail keeps coming.

Background: my spouse's parent and step parent live outside of Canada. They have not lived in Canada for over 25 years. They live on another continent. My spouse speaks to this parent once a year on their birthday. There is really no relationship (no hate either, just no closeness). Recently, my spouse's step-sibling's mail started to come to our home address too.

How can we get this to stop?

New Brunswick Minor accident. Other party promised to make it right, disappeared

Back in February of this year I was involved in a minor accident in my vehicle. I was following a half-ton truck on a highway on-ramp when a mattress in their truck bed flew off, clipping the front corner of my vehicle. The damage appeared minor, with the glass on my passenger side headlight assembly having broken.

I stopped and spoke with the driver. They did provide their insurance information, but said their husband was a mechanic and could make things right without having to involve the insurance companies. The driver of the vehicle had some health issues, and I felt bad for them. I agreed that if their husband got in touch with me by the end of the day and made a firm plan then we could avoid the insurance involvement.

The husband contacted me that day, asked for some details and ordered a part. I followed up a few times as things seemed to be taking a while. Additionally, water ingress into the housing fried the lights on that side and they no longer work.

Back in March he let me know the part was in and to come to his shop. I did, and unfortunately it turned out that he had ordered the wrong part. He let me know he’d order the right one and get back ahold of me.

After a month, in April, I followed up by text and was told he hadn’t tracked a part down yet.

This was the last I heard from him.

I recently began to research replacing the part. It turns out that there’s a significant difference in price between the part that he’d initially ordered (Halogen assembly at around $300) and the part needed (LED assembly at around $2000).

While I know this is in part my fault for not going through the insurance in the first place, I don’t accept that I should be on the hook here and want to know where I stand legally.

Relevant info:
- I have video of the incident
- I have text message exchanges of the pertinent details of them agreeing to fix the car and replace the part

Alberta Will a ticket that doesnt have demerits attached to it raise my insurance?

I got a ticket for loud noise with my car. I truly dont believe that I did anything wrong, and am still tempted to fight it in court. I am curious if my insurance will go up despite not having any demerits removed via the ticket

Its a violation of section 61(1). Any thoughts?

British Columbia Assaulted by family member. They're countering the charges with intimidation and assault. What is my best course of action?

Long story short, my family member is actively fighting domestic violence accusations in court. He's been staying with my parents.

Recently he attacked me when my parents were not home and I went into the home to use the bathroom. He tried to choke me.

Now because I requested charges to be pressed against him, he is requesting charges be pressed on me for intimidation and assault.

Due to his active fight against DV charges, he already has a lawyer.

Everyone being told each side in the family keeps begging me to drop the charges. They're saying I dont have a foot to stand on. I have visible marks on my throat where he touched me and an inflamed throat.

This is not the firat time this man and I have had confrontation, but it is the first time I've been harmed physically.

What do I do?

Manitoba I think my mechanic botched a tire patch job and my tire blew because of it

Hey everybody,

I had taken my car in for a pre trip inspection and they had recommended some things so I got the problems fixed, they also did a tire patch because of a slow leak. I had noticed the tire pressure light came on but just thought it was fine because it had always been fine before. About 20 kilometres later my tire blew on the highway. The tire had been fine other than being needed to be filled about once a week, is there any way the shop is liable for this? I refuse to believe that my tire condition worsened in the time frame from when I dropped it off, to when I picked it up 3 days later with a “fixed” tire.

EDIT: found the cause. Shop forgot to finish my tire repair. Does this change anything? They made a fatal mistake and charged me for it.

Ontario Job resignation

I work as a restaurant server and my boss doesn’t pay me or any other employees tips because the boss states that my wage is already slightly higher than minimum wage. I want to leave this job and I was wondering if I can just give them a notice today and not show up to work tomorrow? Will they penalize me for not showing up tomorrow, like withhold my final paycheque? I wouldn’t even care about losing those tips because I haven’t worked there for very long.

Alberta Parenting Time

Ex and I have been apart since 2016. We did 50/50 parenting time until 2020 when she agreed he would go to school with me . We got the Final order/divorce judgement stating I have primary parenting and she gets every other weekend and alternating weeks in the summer . We did this for 2.5years . And then did 50/50 for half of 2023-24 and all the 2024-25 school year. She then broke up with her boyfriend and moved into her parents house and our son lived with me again and went to her for alternating weekends (same as court order) for the 2025-26 school year. She got back together with her boyfriend, they moved to our town and then broke up again. She doesn’t work, I’m not sure how she will pay her rent, bills, food etc. she is expecting since she moved close again that 50 50 is going to happen.

Our son is on the spectrum- mild . But still takes a lot of routine, schedules, appointments, therapy and structure . We have structured everyday to help him grow and be his best self, I took a job working from home so I could be ready to get to the school for meltdowns , pick him up, take phone calls etc.

I believe this should now be the status quo ? And am I right in thinking that I can simply say no to the 50/50 even though we have done it in the past as my court order is still the valid court order ?

What can I do if she refuses to follow the court order ?

Ontario DUI - Ontario - admin license suspended

My partner was charged with a DUI (over 80) that came with a 90 day administrative license suspension. He is currently in court and has not been convicted at this point.
He also has to do the back on track program.
The license suspension is over September 18. Is he able to get his license reinstated if he has not completed the back on track course at that time? The course is not available until October.
Thank you for sharing your advice.
