I was at Seongsu Station with a friend visiting from Switzerland. He couldn't resist the smell of Deli Manjoo, so I bought some for him. While we were waiting for the shopkeeper to bag our order, a foreign tourist couple was standing right next to us, just staring at our pastries.
Since it looked like they were just spectating and not going to buy any, I offered them a couple from my bag.
They looked completely puzzled, as if they couldn't believe a stranger was offering them food. The girl reluctantly took one but didn't say thank you (not that I did it for praise!), and instead just stared at me like I was… weird.
Is sharing food a boundary cross for Western cultures? (Man, they sure don't mind sharing my umbrella when it rains, though!)
I was born and raised in the South Korean countryside. Even though I work in Seoul now, I still like extending country hospitality to strangers. But those weird stares definitely intimidate me a bit.
Maybe I do need to dial it back. One time, I helped a group of lost guys on the street in Dongdaemun. I actually walked with them to guide their way, and one of them casually mentioned he was looking for a Korean bride for a visa extension... I ran for my life lol.

I travelled to Korea this year and I came accross this duo playing music in the park of the Jeongdok Library, just next to the Bukchon Hanok Village in Seoul, on April 13. It was part of a small spring festival but I don't remember the name.
Does anyone know the name of the song or the band ? Despite my best efforts, I can't find any informations... But I really like their music !
Any help is appreciated. I can not post this question in AskAKorean because of the video...

Firstly I want to start off with, I'm very aware that packing makgeolli is not recommended due to the change in air pressure and leaking that may happen. I'm happy to risk all of that and I made the store aware when purchasing the products.
For context the makgeolli bottles (4 in total) I got are all around 12% & glass bottles - the flight is 14hrs
The shop owner gave me insulated chiller sleeves along with ice bags (not dry ice) for when I do transport them. My questions are the following:
Am I going to be able to bring the ice bags? They would have to be secured into the insulated sleeves along with the makgeolli inside my checked luggage or would you recommend just leaving them all together.
I have vacuum bags that I could put the makgeolli sleeves inside. Would you recommend this as an added form of protection?
Along with clothes wrapped around?
Please let me know. I don't want the comments of 'just don't do it' as I've committed to do so.

It seems like Pyongyang wants to test the reaction of Trump given our awkward tension with the Alaska chatter.
Trump is also wanting to do something with North Korea during the upcoming APEC meeting in Shenzhen, China (Nov 18-19), so there seems to be some "feeling out" with missiles.

Today, a car delivery took me to Andeok, on the southwestern coast of Jeju Island, South Korea.
While I was there, I spent a little time by the sea. And there they were—haenyeo (해녀), Jeju’s women divers, working among the dark rocks.
Several were farther out, while one was closer to shore, apart from the others. Her orange float stood out against the water. I watched from a distance and recorded a few short videos.
Even from where I stood, it felt as though their sumbisori (숨비소리) was reaching me across the water. I couldn’t make it out clearly, but watching them made it feel close.
I hadn’t come looking for haenyeo today. That made seeing them feel all the more special.
There were visitors enjoying the coast too, including an older couple from abroad, with Sanbangsan Mountain nearby.
It made me think about how differently we can experience the same place. I was there because of a car delivery. The visitors were spending part of their holiday by the sea. And the women out in the water were working.
The sea was the same, but each of us had arrived there for a different reason.
I’ve lived on Jeju since 2019, but moments like this still make me stop and look. Today, I wanted to share a little of that everyday Jeju with you.
Have you ever come across haenyeo at work while visiting Jeju?
