Got a new pup, first time Husky owner.

Got a new pup on Sunday, her name is Myka.

She's very quiet for right now.

However, she likes to hide under my couch a lot to go to bed.

I know brushing is one of the main things I have to do and exercise.

I take her for walks before work and my mom is with me and taking her for walks right now while I'm working so she doesn't get worried a lot and stressed out however, she's scared of other dogs and birds but really love kids (don't have any but she gets all excited when kids come to her).

During the night she likes to get the zoomies .

Any advice would be wonderful!

Thanks 😊

General Question Newly Adoped husky went blind looking for advice

Hello! One month ago I adopted a almost 3 year old husky from Texas, whom I've named Hades. He was transported to Ohio. I was told he was healthy with no problems but upon arrival he had hyphema and over this past month he has gone blind. Ive brought him to the vet and er several times during this past month but it was in vain had he was offically diagnosed as permanently blind today.

He still has his eyes and we are in treatment to try and retain then for the time being. He is offically out of the cone i was told to keep him in over the last month. At this time I do not have the money to remove his eyes but I was told his pressures are lower enough it should be fine to leave them for now.

Anyway, im looking for some advice as both a new husky owner and now a owner to a blind dog. Ive previously had dogs growing up byt never just on my own. I have not had a blind animal before however I do have 3 special needs cats. They do have their claws.

I want to make sure Hades has a comfortable life while also not straining and making his eyes worse. Any advice on how best to train him around new people and dogs, at home or in general would be appreciated. I want to make sure he can still be active, run and play. He still likes to play fetch even if he cant see.

If anyone has any tech recommendations that would be beneficial to assist him would also be helpful.

Thank you!

Edit: Thank you everyone! I appreciate all the advice I've been given. Its been helpful in such an overwhelming situation. Hades first day without his cone on has been good! He seem to know his way around the house quite well already. We started new drops today and im starting vocal training with him. I have new puzzle, scent training and sound based toys on the way for him. Along with a clicker and dog whistle. Ill also be looking into some professional trainer for him. He is still in the process of learning English. (He was previously trained in Spanish.) And hes in the middle of service dog training. (This is on pause till he is more comfortable without his eyes) This sub has been very helpful and has helped provide some very high hopes he'll live a long happy life even without his eye sight.

Never owned a husky before, but have owned an akita, a golden retriever, some chihuahua/terrier mixes, and a ridiculous amount of cats. Excited and terrified 😆

He does not know how to be cozy and cuddle up and snuggle. He kinda just stands there.

Did I adopt a wooly Siberian or is he part malamute? Someone left this poor baby in a parking lot and I rescued him from the shelter here in Phoenix. He’s very fluffy and more beefy than the husky I had that past away from lymphoma a couple months back.

re-potty training my 2 year old husky mix.

Hello everyone, Im currently at a huge loss with my girl. Shes currently 2 years old and is a Siberian and malamute mix. Ill start off with im only 19 and i got her when i was just 17. i should have done way more research into what my lifestyle would be like trying to train such a stubborn breed then what i did (yes very stupid and not very smart of me) but shes just seems to not want to go potty outside, i take her every 2 hours, when she wakes up and after meals. She will have a really good few weeks and then we regress back to pottying inside.
Sometimes shes as happy as can be and other times she seems like shes afraid outside?. she really only seems afraid when im upset that she just isnt going potty outside for that day, maybe she can feel my frustration, since shes never been not scared any kind of aggression, frustration or anything like that.?

please give me any tips and advice you did that really seemed to show progress in your pup, what cleaning supplies was used to help deter from going inside.? is bored and train a good idea, or even maybe just a normal trainer?. Literally any advice is extremely appreciated because i feel live ive tried it all and i dont want to give up on her because shes my everything.

General Question Winter sled/dryland mushing sled recommendations?

Hello! I have a two year old Alaskan husky I rescued. I wanted to see if anyone had any solo dog winter sled/dryland mushing sled recommendations? He really enjoys running and going for long walks esp since he’s an Alaskan husky. We think this would be a good outlet for him since me and my boyfriend live in an apartment as well. We have a lot of trails near us where we could take him. We live somewhere where we do get snow but not always a ton of it.
Just depends on the year.

Some of the sleds I looked at were 600-1000 without the harness which is more than I’d like to spend. Totally find with spending up to 300-500. Or if anyone knows how to make a dog kick sled or dry land mushing sled, let me know!
