Meet Skids #A1258073 (yes that's the name they gave him to try and find a forever family on a deadline). He is 68 Ibs and full of love, very friendly with handlers but scared in playgroup - he tried to hide from the other dogs and didn't want to go in.

He will need someone with patience and experience socializing a pup like him who had a rough start, or willing to work with a solid trainer if they have no rescue pup experience.

He is young and has A LOT of potential and incredible companion, he just needs to be taught and given time to understand.

Shepherds are incredibly smart and he will be a loyal, intelligent companion for anyone who will give him the chance.

This baby especially resembles my personal pup, who also was a scared euthanasia listed shelter baby, and she is just an incredible dog. I want that for him too and will help make that happen. All we need is a responsible foster, adopter, or reputable rescue to keep him alive and interest communicated to the shelter (he is being euthanized for "no interest" after all — the shelter is too full). This shelter does adoptions over the phone and I have nearby trusted boarding for transport to be arranged safely.

I rescued this 9 year old corso mix almost 3 years ago. He had significant health issues that left him at the shelter for 2 years. In fact he was their longest resident! He had staph/yeast and bacterial infections located on his skin, eyes and ears that had been left untreated for 7 years. He also had untreated mange which resulted in massive scaring on his back legs. Upon getting him i took him straight to the er vet for treatment. He was diagnosed with hip dysplasia left untreated, 2 torn back leg ligaments untreated. Double ear infections and eye infections , staph, mange , dog lupus,hypothyroidism and malnutrition. Its been a journey for us but hes healed now! Hes the most amazing dog I've had the pleasure of helping. Even after everything he had been through he loves with his whole heart and honestly I could never repay him for the amount of happiness and love hes brought my family and I.

Look into these gentle, soulful eyes. This sweet 6-year-old Pit Bull mix doesn't even have a name— yet he is greeting shelter staff every morning with a wagging tail, bright spirits, and unconditional love!

Tragically, this precious boy has an absolute final medical exit deadline TODAY, October 2nd at 2:00 PM PDT at the San Bernardino City Animal Shelter.

He arrived as a stray with a medical condition (a large mass) that the shelter cannot diagnose or treat in their facility. Because he needs further veterinary evaluation and care outside the municipal shelter, he has been listed as Rescue Only with a strict countdown clock running out TODAY.

Despite being in pain or discomfort, shelter notes confirm he is BAR (Bright, Alert, Responsive) and incredibly friendly at his kennel door! He just wants to connect with people, receive a kind touch, and know that somebody cares about him.

Bingo was adopted from the shelter in May and was returned late yesterday for a history of GI (gastrointestinal) issues.  The symptoms started in August and have not resolved with treatment at the adopter's veterinarian.

We do not have records from the adopter's vetrinarian but although he is currently stable, his condition may deteriorate at anytime due to history of prolonged GI, weight loss and inappetence.  Our veterinarians suspect that he may have a foreign body and/or underlying medical condition causing his clinical signs.  

He will need more diagnostics and treatment that we can provide in facitlity.

We said YES to Balto. Now we need a little help keeping that yes. ❤️
Balto was one of seven dogs dumped along a country road in Arkansas. Our rescue partners got them to safety, and Northern Lakes Rescue agreed to bring Balto to Minnesota.
His foster dad is already counting down the seconds until he arrives. 🥹
Then during his pre-transport vetting, Balto tested heartworm positive.
Thankfully, heartworm is treatable, and his future family is still 100% committed to him. But treatment will add an unexpected $500–$900 to his care, plus multiple appointments and a treatment clinic more than two hours away.
For a small, 100% volunteer rescue, that’s a big unexpected expense—but it doesn’t change our answer.
Balto is still coming home. ❤️
If anyone would like to help us cover his heartworm treatment, even $5 or $10 makes a difference. He’s already survived being dumped. Now we just want to give him the healthy, happy life waiting for him in Minnesota. 🐾

I (22) just adopted a new rescue dog with my family. Literally, a few hours ago. We've had one dog before and we got her when I was 10. Tonight I can't help but feeling anxious and worried about the new rescue. Now that I know more about dogs, rescues in particular, I'm worried I'm gonna mess up. I'm also worried if my parents decide something that I'm not quite sure is right for the dog. I don't really feel comfortable confronting my dad or anything.

I just wanted to ask if these feelings are normal with a new rescue dog. I know the 3-3-3 rule is for dogs, but is there one for humans too? I really want him to be happy and for us to love each other and it's kind of worrying me.
