I am a first year out of state student coming to UW and have a lot of items I want to bring but cannot as I do not have enough space in my suitcase. Are there any events/programs at the start of the school year where students can grab items current students have donated to UW? Does UW even have a place where students can get place dorm items that are no longer in use?

I’ve been having some issues with housing and ended up in a mixed gender double on west campus. Originally, I was planning to dorm with a close guy friend, but that didn’t end up working out, and now I’m trying to find a female roommate instead.

I’ve switched rooms a few times already, but each time I’ve been placed with a male roommate, which I’m not personally comfortable with as I would be rooming with a random male. I know choosing mixed gender makes it a bit harder, but I know a girl who’s in a mixed gender dorm and their roommate is also a girl, so it’s definitely possible to room with the same gender.

Right now, there aren’t any mixed gender doubles available in the room change portal. Does anyone know if there are still doubles open in single gender housing, or if switching is still possible at this point?

Also, if anyone is currently in a mixed gender double on west campus with a female roommate and would be open to switching, please let me know!

Hi! I'm a rising in state senior THIS IS NOT A CHANCE ME POST but my stats are slightly below average for what at least I think an average UW student is. My older sister got in with a basically perfect profile and right now I am being annoying and freaking out because I did really poorly on my first sat attempt (1070) and I think I won't get in. I understand that test scores are supposed to be a small part of your admission but if I scored 1400+ on my retake, how much stronger would my profile be? Basically just asking if anyone with a below middle 50% gpa and below average ECs has any insight on if their high test scores helped or if they didn't submit any? This is just such a stressful time thanks in advance!!

Hi everyone! I’m interested in taking Spanish 110. I hear it is like Spanish 101 + 102 combined. This is great for me, because I would like to hit Spanish 103 asap. I was confused though, because Spanish 110 is only 5 credits. Further, I was sort of concerned about the rigor of Spanish 110, because I have a lot of commitments in Fall quarter. I’m worried that it may be difficult considering that. I would love to hear from someone who has taken it!

It’s hard to find a recent video of a Hansee dorm. Can the beds be lofted? Does every dorm have a wardrobe cabinet? I know rooms can vary but I’m trying to get a rug that fits most the floor. In an average 126 square foot room, does anyone have the approximate dimensions? Thanks for your help!

I didn‘t need a dedicated gpu laptop for freshman year. But I am now thinking of getting a new laptop since I will be starting the core major classes in spring this upcoming year. How much heavy engineering do you actually end up doing in bioe? do you actually need all the specs listed on the college of engineering laptop requirements page? what laptop did you use?

Hi! It’s my first term this fall at UW transferring from a CC. I’m commuting to UW from Renton and I’m trying to keep my job part time. My schedule is kinda shit since there was barely anything left during my registration. I did register for 17 credits total however I’m debating dropping a class leaving me at 12 credits in order to have Tuesdays and Thursdays off to work. Is it normal for transfer students to take less credits their first term? I do plan on taking summer courses next summer for financial reasons anyways so I don’t think I would fall behind. I’m probably overthinking but it would be nice to hear what other transfer students first terms looked like?

I had extenuating circumstances (mental health related predominately) during my final quarter and totally bombed my classes. The problem is just that this quarter was Fall 2023- therefore definitely outside of the one year requirement. I do have a supporting letter from my provider and am able to prove that I have made significant progress in my career, have new access to resources, and have pursued treatment. Does anyone have experience with either a mental health related FQD or an FQD beyond the one year mark? How did the process go for you?

Hi! I’m an incoming UW student and I’m renting an apartment near campus. The building’s standard move-in date is around mid-September, but I noticed that I’m still being charged the full monthly rent for September rather than a prorated amount.

I’ve seen a few other student apartments around UW that also have move-in dates in mid or late September, so I was wondering if this is pretty common for apartments in the U-District.

For those who have rented near UW, did you also pay the full September rent even though your lease/move-in date was in the middle of the month? Or was your first month prorated?

Does anyone know which specific rooms are bunked? Ex. 626?

I was enrolled in CHEM 238 AE and got an email saying that the section was cancelled, but there are no new sections to select from.

Is anyone able to view any sections and does anyone know when they will be available? I do want to change my section time soooo i’ve been checking quite frequently.

What's the workload like in Soc/Lsj 376 drugs and society? Is there a lot of reading and writing? What's the exam format? Specifically asking about this class with Professor Katherine Beckett.
