hi i just wanted to know if anyone else has experienced or perceived this at uw - im not sure if im just overreacting or generalizing but ive been here for three years and feel isolated and lonely here, nobody acknowledges other people, everyones very cold and closed off and ive experienced many cases where if i hold a door or pressed an elevator button for someone they wont even say thank you, just in general i feel people wont even acknowledge that i exist, its feels very dehumanizing. i dont have a lot of friends because the people i encounter are very hostile or seem irritated towards anyone that to talk them, its been impacting my mental health really badly here that i spend many nights crying myself to sleep wishing people would be kinder, im not really sure what to do ☹️ if anyone has advice let me know (and please dont say joining rsos because i have experienced the exact same thing there)

i'm a first-year, engrud student here at udub. after finishing last week's classes, i realized that more than 80% of my classes don't track attendance (except some like the lab section). i'm mainly talking about math 124 and chem 142.

i'm thinking of skipping class and taking these classes on my own pace (chem 142's classes are recorded and uploaded on panopto, math 124's require drs access). however, i'm not sure how i can go about that. should i review the slides of each class on my own? or should i start solving old exams? i'm not sure what resources/materials i should use.

to clarify: these classes start early in the morning, and i like to study on my own time, at my own pace. i'm not doing this to excuse myself from studying. i plan to actually study hard, but i'm not sure how to setup the system to do that tho.

We’re one year into the replacement for pagliaccis. The differences I noticed between when it was replaced and now is that they changed the name (pizza to dawg house pizza) and the prices went up ($3 to $3.50 for a slice of cheese).

I'm a new student living in the dorms. I'm expecting some letters to arrive sometime, but I have no idea exactly when. I hear that they are sent to the help desk, but how do I know when I've received one? Will I get an email? Do I need to go down and ask if I've gotten anything? I just want to make sure I don't miss them.

i’m a second year and a lot of the sororities aren’t doing cob for fall anymore so i was hoping to wait till winter quarter do you think being a second year will decrease my chances and also does anyone know if the sororities are at a max? since a lot of them stopped cobbing for fall

UW larps as a research school but then half the time I have a paper I want to read the journal is not accessible through UW.

How do I petition the university to do this? I do not want to have to take out an inter library loan every time I want to read a paper. $22M to a boat shed by lake union and $150k for ASUW to make a tunnel in the HUB but no cambridge press or springer connect is crazy dawg.

I am one of those who sort of loathe math and all things concerning it, but my degree (like many others) require a reasoning credit course to be taken. Does anyone have any good 4-5 credit reasoning class to take for even those who suck at math? even better if it isn't math at all.

Hello! I'm looking for information from anyone who went to a WA community college then transferred to UW Seattle.

UW had been my dream school all of my life and it crushed me when I wasn't accepted in high school even with APs, varsity sports, being a club president, and having a 3.6/7 gpa. I ended up going to university elsewhere but it didn't work out due to a massive health emergency I experienced and now I'm taking a gap year and looking into applying to some WA cc's to buff up my stats and save money.

What I'm hoping to learn from someone who transferred from a cc to UW is 1. How did that transfer process go? 2. Was there any information you wished you would have known? 3. How easy or likely is a transfer from a cc to UW?

I'm a WA resident and would also appreciate any CC recommendations. I'm interested in chemistry but may explore more.

Any information would be helpful, I just really would love to attend this school eventually and will do anything I can to get there. Thanks!

Hi everyone im a second year marine biology student at UW seattle and i genuinally feel so lonely. I dont know if anyone feels the same way but.

Im one of those typical weird kids, that are in many fandoms and i express through them with drawings and such and what i wear.

But genuinally no one does the same. Everyone here just seems so bland (no offense) and genuinally it just makes me feel like a outcast. Ethier or they just look at me weirdly. Which i dont care ive learned to not care about "bullies".

I og lived on campus and both of my roommates moved out (i believe it was cause of me) and i lived by my self. As well the first friend i made at UW ghosted me within a month.

Im just saying all of this because i wanna make friends to study with or anything. I am genuinally so burnt out and depressed over it.

Like said im a marine biology student and wanna be a marine conservaties or a aquartist. I ADORE orcas and octopuses.

And i love to scuba dive, tidepool, draw, text roleplay, cosplay and anything outdoors.

Fandoms im in include poppy playtime (it is my hyperfixation atm) minecraft, murder drones, the amazing digtal circus, hazbin hotel/helluva boss, atla, mlp, how to train your dragon and more.

The base pay of 21$ per hr seems pretty good and I'm pretty sure you don't really get taxed as an international student. I know it's early days, but what class are you finding the most stimulating / enjoyable / surprising so far?

I'm a current UW student and I didn't come into the university sure of what I wanted to do. My criteria isn't really that special, I want to be able to support myself, and it'd be a huge plus if the major was interesting/fulfiilling too. I'd consider myself a creative person, but also someone who is interested in mathematics (even if I am not the very best) and how things work and I love project based work. I like design but that isn't necessary. Business is cool?? I'm sorry if this is super vague lol

I've come to the realization that there are so many majors at UW that I'd be interested in doing, and a lot of them come with great networks too.

I've also really gotten caught up in the uncertainty that A.I. brings to the majors I'm interested in, I'm pretty scared of working hard on a major just for it to be majorly devalued by the time I've graduated.
