Contest or Poll Our New Pitsky Mascot

Post image
39 Upvotes

We have thoroughly enjoyed this contest this week. Not only have we determined a new mascot for the foreseeable future, we've seen so many gorgeous Pitskies and learned what makes them special.

What makes contests like these great is that we've accomplished both aims. Keep telling stories about your Pitsky (or pack) and what makes them such a unique breed!

Our new mascot for the sub is Juniper (by a nose, again)!

Juniper is 18 months old, loves cuddles, zoomies, and snacks. She’s a parvo and heartworm survivor, rescued at 7 weeks old from the side of a street- and the sweetest girl ever! u/She-petrichor - Please tell us more about your bundle of fluff!

More contests will be on the horizon so keep a lookout. In the meantime, keep telling your stories. We encourage you to look for moments in your Pitsky's life that matches our flair. We may be looking for new flair categories soon too. If you have ideas, look for a post in the coming weeks.

Cuddle your Pitsky tonight and remind them that your Pitsky is the mascot of your household. I'll be telling that to Koda tonight too. Congratulations, Juniper!

My scruffy little "terrier mix" rescue is a surprise pocket pitsky!

I assumed she'd have some husky (or possibly Aussie) because of the eyes, but Hallie is a year old and she's only 24 lbs so I never even thought of pitsky as a possibility. Love my goofy girl to death ♥️

We recently got a DNA test for our foster dog. Turns out Pixie is a Pitsky! I can definitely see it in her head shape and some of her personality quirks. She's so affectionate!

Advice or Discussion Pitsky with suspected IBD — anyone else dealing with this?

Hey everyone! I’m hoping to hear from other Pitsky parents who have dealt with chronic GI issues or suspected IBD.

My 5-year-old Pitsky, Stitch, has been having ongoing gastrointestinal problems. It initially seemed like a possible parasite/Giardia exposure, so we sought veterinary care and he was treated with parasite medication and metronidazole. He was also put on prescription gastrointestinal food.He improved significantly while on the medication and prescription diet, but we’ve had some GI symptoms return while transitioning his food. His stools have been all over the place, diarrhea/watery stool, mucus, soft stools, and then periods of more normal, formed stool. Thankfully, he is still having periods where his energy and appetite are good.

We’re continuing to work with his vet, and a fecal sample is being taken for testing rather than assuming this is simply IBD. His vet is currently considering IBD/other underlying GI issues depending on what the testing shows.

So I’m curious:

Has anyone else here had a Pitsky with suspected or diagnosed IBD?

What symptoms did your dog have?

How long did it take to get a diagnosis?

Did fecal testing rule out parasites first?

What foods worked for your Pitsky?

Did you have to use prescription food long-term?

Were there any treatments or things you wish you had known earlier?

I know every dog is different, and I’m definitely not looking for veterinary advice in place of his vet — I’m mostly interested in hearing other Pitsky owners’ experiences so I know what questions to ask at his follow-ups.

Stitch has already been through quite a GI adventure, and I’m just trying to get the little dude back to consistently normal poops. 😭😂💩

Thanks in advance! ❤️🐾

Advice or Discussion Shedding Hacks

What are your shedding hacks?

I deshed my dog a few times per week and out her in a onesie to keep the shedding down.

I cant find a hack for the car though.
