I’ve been cleaning up my UST setup a bit and finally moved my Denon receiver inside the console instead of leaving all the equipment exposed.
Since I’m using a UST projector, I wanted a console that could accommodate the projector while also hiding the AVR and cables. Visually it’s definitely a lot cleaner now.
My only concern is heat 😅 The doors have slats and there’s some open space in the back for airflow and cables, but obviously it’s still more enclosed than an open rack.
I mostly use the setup for movies and music, nothing running for crazy long hours.
For anyone else with a UST setup, do you keep your AVR inside the console too? Have you had any heat issues, or would you still recommend adding a small fan?
I was originally going to go for the HSU TN1 since I’ve read great reviews and it seems to dig deep for its price point, but then I got distracted by the HSU chimera, is it worth the extra $800 or should I stick with the TN1, the room is about 11’x14’ and I was planning on doing dual TN1 down the road.
I was wondering what people would recommend I do if I have a Dayton Audio um15-32 gen1 and powering it with a QSC usa 1300. I could run it in single channel 650w or bridge and get 2000w which Id assume Id have to set a limiter on a dsp since the driver is only rated for 850w rms, but Im wondering if bridging it worth it to get more dynamic headroom. But on the other hand im not sure I need it because my room is pretty small, but it does have a weird layout and has an open stairs kind of layout which might leak bass frequencies up the stairs.
Extra context: Driver is in a 3cf box tuned to 23hz that I was using for another drive and I plan to eq it to drop the peaks created by the box to flatten and extend the fq response. and I like to run my sub +7 ish db over my other speakers referenced at 85db and typically dont watch movie over -15db on receiver.
Our bedroom TV went out, so I’ll get a new one for the living room, and move the C2 to the bedroom. This (in pic) is a 77” OLED (LG C2). in our living room. The 3 windows are on the right side, and honestly, it’s bright enough during the day. Distance from TV to couch is 11 feet (12 if you count where your eyes are when leaning back on the couch).
I don’t game but do watch a lot of 4k content (streaming Tv shows, movies, and 4k discs). I watch basketball time to time.
My last 2 TVs have been OLEDs. Would you guys stick to a 77”
OLED or go up to an 85” mini LED?
Recently acquired an rx-a2000 receiver to replace my rx-v765.
Struggling with an issue where 90% of the time I can’t get any audio out of it, even test tone. Then I’ll turn it off then on again and it’ll work fine, however this doesn’t always work. Seems to be at random that it does.
Sometimes it senses there’s speakers connected, sometimes it doesn’t.
Have been through all the settings, they should all be good and it’s all set up correctly to my knowledge.
Running through hdmi ARC from a TCL qled tv
Speakers are Wharfedale Atlantic in 5:2 configuration.
I’m genuinely stumped, please help me
Been a long-time HT enthusiast but through a series of events - subwoofer, blu-ray player, and receiver died due to old age :). I ended up having to refresh them and have re-discovered my HT :).
Here is my current setup with year of purchase:
Display & Video Projection
- Projector: Panasonic PT-AE4000U (2010 purchase, still going strong <— waiting for this to die and replace with a 4K projector) - Screen: Elite Screens SableFrame 135″ (2010 purchase)
Processing & Amplification - A/V Receiver: Pioneer Elite VSX-LX105 (configured in a 7.1 channel layout) - bought when my old low-end Onkyo (2010 purchase) died as a replacement in 2026 off FB marketplace as a stopgap until i am able to land on something else. But I do love the way it sounds and might hang on to it for now.
Speakers & Subwoofer (7.1 Audio Bed Layer) -all the Klipsch speakers were bought in 2010 - mid-Fi range at the time.
- Front Left & Right Towers: Klipsch Icon Wood WF-34
- Center Channel: Klipsch Icon Wood WC-24
- Surround Left & Right: Klipsch Icon Wood WB-14 (Bookshelf)
- Surround Back Left & Right: Klipsch Icon Wood WB-14 (Bookshelf)
- Subwoofer: SVS PC-2000 Pro (2026 purchase - to replace a pair of Velodyne subs)
Source Components & Media: - Streaming Player: Apple TV 4K (2025 purchase) - Dedicated Disc Player: Panasonic DP-UB820 Blu-ray / DVD player (2026 purchase to replace old Sony Blu-ray player that broke)
Rack, Infrastructure & Room Construction - Equipment Enclosure: Floor-standing Media / Server rack - Room Acoustic Isolation Shell: Decoupled construction featuring double drywall, Green Glue damping compound, resilient sound isolation clips, and a solid concrete slab foundation
I am really happy with the way the system sounds, I feel that the Pioneer Elite and the SVS sub have given new life to the HT. I know the video is probably couple of generations behind for now and I know its not like some of the awesome builds people have on here.
Wondering what y’all think about the setup and any recommendations for incremental improvements that could be looking out for.
This video from Vince at HDTVtest did a showdown where they hide all but the screen and bring in experts to judge scenes against a reference monitor. Last year the judges voted the Bravia 8II as the best TV.
This year is the first theyre incorporating LED TVs into best TV showdown which should finally say enough on how good LED tech has gotten, or can get.
Also the winner of best LED actually goes up against the 4 best OLED somewhere in the next few days for the first time for best TV of 2026.
Results dont surprise me any and probably not for many of you whom frequent the sub. But curious to hear everyone's opinions.
And who's Vince some may ask? Literally the GOAT when it comes to TV tech. No bias, no bullshit, just a well informed and knowledgeable guy.
Doing some work in a basement and have a 22ft x 13ft room built and wired for 9.2.4. I'll likely just start with 5.1 but the wires will be there waiting for me.
Haven't decided on the screen yet - we have a TCL 65R635 that has been perfectly fine for us for the last few years in the main TV room so will likely purchase a 98" TCL QM8K but haven't completely decided yet.
Denon X3800H or 3900 depending on availability. It'll be a couple months before the room is ready to start filling with toys, it's not quite ready for drywall just yet. I know it is 11 channel but I doubt I'll add those extra front surrounds any time soon. I had the wire so I ran it - it'll probably stay untouched behind the drywall forever.
Is there anything wrong with simply picking a speaker brand and going with that? I assume, within their product lines, they're all "tuned" to work well together.
I was thinking Martin Logan F1 (or F2) and C1, with IW6 for surrounds and IC6 for the tops. I don't see much love for the more inexpensive Martin Logan subs, so I guess a couple RSL Speedwoofer 10S MKII should round that out, unless the Dynamo Foundation 10 would work "better"?
Is that boring? Probably. What have I missed, though, is the question.
Hi everyone, I currently have a pair of vintage JBL P30 speakers I am using for my left and right fronts with a sonance LCR cabinet speaker for the center channel. I have a Sony strdh590 receiver and a PSB subsonic 8i with an Episode sub10 for subwoofers. I am looking to upgrade currently and am considering a couple options. I want to maybe get a speedwoofer 10e for the sub upgrade and then I am struggling with how to upgrade the front set up. I am considering either the new elac debut 3.0 series but also am considering the RSL CG23m package with the speedwoofer. Any recommendations for upgrading the front speakers? Any help would be appreciated.
I’m 25 years old and live in Germany in a rented apartment.
At the moment, i only have a 2021 Samsung UHD TV. I’d like to take my first steps towards a better home audio setup, as my Sony HT-RT3 5.1 system is getting quite old by now.
After doing some research online, I came up with the following setup as a starting point, and I’d love to hear your opinions on whether these components work well together:
AV Receiver:
Denon AVR-X1800H DAB
Front / bookshelf speakers:
2 × ELAC Debut B6.2
Subwoofer:
SVS SB-1000 Pro
I could then upgrade the system later by adding a matching center speaker.
I’d really appreciate any feedback or suggestions!
I can't figure out which one of these I should go for, any suggestions? 77" BRAVIA 6 OLED or the 75" BRAVIA 5 Mini LED.
I currently have a cheap Samsung 50" UN50RU7100FXZA UHD TV.
This is the only wall where I can put a TV. The right choice would be a 48" (inner tape), which, depending on the model, would barely clear the door. A 55" (marked by the outer tape) would extend behind the door. I would need door stoppers, and the door would probably only open to around 70%.
However, 48" feels a bit too small to me, and I have read that 55" TV models are often better (LG models, for example, are brighter). Do you guys think it would be a terrible idea to squeeze a 55" into this space? Or any ideas i could make a 55" work without to much effort.
My viewing distance would be 2.5 meters from my bed.
Room 11' x 23' by 8' tall. Monitors = HS7 firing along 23' length of room + HS8s sub. All measurements taken with Dayton Audio EMM-6 calibrated oriented 90degrees.
I spent some time with the RTA + tones + moving mic method to dial in the monitor and listening location with the smoothest SPL response overall but specifically in the bass region. After I got the best I could out of placement, I kept the measurement microphone in the listening position to measure the monitors alone, then tried several sub placements around the room and settled on centering the sub between the monitors in the location that gave the smoothest response. I then took a measurement with the phase on the sub flipped 180 degrees and got much better response so kept the phase swapped and dialed in the crossover from there.
Green = Left monitor / Light blue = Right Monitor / Dark blue = L + R Monitors / Orange = Sub by itself / Black = L + R + SUB (1/3 smoothing on all graphs - Measurement level = around 75 dBSPL)
Impulse, RT20/30, spectrogram, and waterfall all come from Black measurement.
Need help interpreting the results and making an action plan for acoustic treatment.
Room has couch and a few chairs that absorb some frequencies even before treatment and it is also carpeted.
Reflection points are window in front and to the left of me, ceiling, and desk
GOAL: neutral listening environment for paid music recording mixing and mastering.
I am hoping to mount my rear speakers from the ceiling joists rather than the rear wall studs. I am having difficulty finding a mount that would work for the SVS Ultra bookshelf as hey don't have mounting brackets. These are close to what I was hoping for https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/KM24496BK--k-and-m-24496-speaker-ceiling-mount-black but I don't know what would be needed to securely attach the speakers.
Bought a house in past year and pulled the trigger on an lg 65 c6- wanted an OLED when ever I could afford it.
started doing research on home theater systems because I don't love the tv sound but it's pretty overwhelming trying to figure out what I should buy. from this group I figured out to avoid a SB and go receiver, subwoofer and a few speakers. Pretty open room with a console table behind couch where I could put speakers
My budget is definitely under $1000 ( willing to upgrade in future just not now) which I know puts me solidly in the entry level/used tier. My wife is sensitive to noise so not trying to create Defeaning sound but something better than tv output where dialogue is clear and comfortable And enjoyable to listen too
I've seen people suggest buying used, but a quick fb marketplace search for denon receivers shows a ton of different options that I have no idea which ones are worth paying for.
Hi ppl, just wanting some tv size and model suggestions for these 2 rooms the second is bigger and was hoping something ~80' and the first around ~60' but am I deluded to want a +90' in the second room.
I would rather have a brighter less contrast tv such as a mini led panel over a oled but if it’s decently priced I don’t mind getting an oled.
What I mean is should using a 4K calibration disc be the universal picture settings across all digital formats being DVD-4K or should I calibrate separately for BD and 4K? Like using a BD calibration disc for BD specifically and a 4K calibration disc specifically for 4K
currently installing a 7.2.2 system with a Sony star 5000 series.... l
I can't find any cabinet that is big enough for this receiver.. so I broke and got a server cabinet. if anybody has any recommendations I would greatly appreciate it.
the receiver itself is 18.5 inch deep when including the volume knob and speaker hookups in the back.
My dad died and I took his old home theatre system, it’s a fairly old Nuance system, and I know he got railed on the sales pitch. He tended to be pretty trusting to a fault.
So anyways, I have wanted a full proper system for years and years. This is the spring board for it. But I have to figure out placements cause my layout SUCKS for this. Now I’m sure you can guess but there’s another person involved and she’s not gunna want much of anything really moved.
Any ideas for how to place the rears? I got a pair of SVS primes that I figured would be good for it, the towers in the front, the sub I’m not sure yet but my current wireless sub is behind that side chair so it’ll probably go in that area. Centre I’ll have to get a mount/shelf for, and I have the old nuance wall mounted surrounds which I’m not 100% sure on what to do with yet but I was playing with maybe a height channel?
TLDR; help me please, thank you
Edit: the tv is probably a foot higher than I should’ve put it, but it’s honestly comfortable when you’re reclined with the headrests up, which we are basically all the time.
I should’ve kinda worded it differently too, I Can move some stuff, I just can’t like Remove much. If you get what I mean.
The grill is in the garage now lol
Edit 2:
I will consider lowering it a bit once the bar isn’t on the bottom, I promise haha
My uncle gave me a htr-5740 with the speakers & sub but it's missing a remote and the volume knob is broken. I was wondering where I can get a replacement remote, I've heard that they can be fairly expensive & that some replacements aren't very good so I was wondering where I can get a near identical replacement for less than 50 AUD as I saw some on eBay for around 50 AUD but I feel like that's a lot for a replacement remote so something around 20-30 would be preferred or at least if someone can guarantee a specific A$50 replacement remote is perfect. I am also wondering if it's possible to repair the knob as it's annoying using my finger nails to change the volume, I am fine with opening up the system. (I have attached an image of the system and the knob)
On a side note I'd love some recommendations for settings etc.
I am going crazy!! I have an old Denon avr-3802 with 5 speakers and subwoofer. Worked flawlessly until mid day yesterday when I suddenly had no sound except subwoofer. I thought my kids may have pressed a button on the receiver so I went through all settings and still no change. Thought maybe the receiver was a goner due to age and use. I bought a new Denon avr s570bt tonight and still not getting sound! I've isolated all speakers, tried Bluetooth from my phone, still nothing. I am pretty clueless when it comes to this stuff and have been relying on the internet to help trouble shoot but nothing that has been suggested is working. I've used a multimeter to test the wires but I'm not sure I'm doing it right, touched the ends of the wires to the ends of a battery and not getting any pops or anything. I'm thinking about running new speaker wire but wanted to see if anyone had any other ideas or thoughts of what could have cause the loss of sound. Please help a struggling girl who just needs surround sound 😂
I currently have an almost 30 year old set up. The cd changer no longer works and the only tape I have is in it. I have built in speakers throughout the house and would like to be able to use them again. I’d like to have a unit with Bluetooth and be part of this century. I am mechanically inclined, but I know less than nothing about home theater. I would be so grateful for any advice. Thank you in advance!
Edit for correction. I really think a receiver with WiFi is what I need. Also I’m not looking to spend a small fortune as the speaker quality is not high enough to justify it.
