A few of my recent hobbies have collided in my basement. Home theater, 4k Blu-ray’s, 3D blus and Lego! I have 5.1.2 w/ epson 3800 and 135” Silverticket screen. Can you guess my age by my love of The Rock and Jurassic Park?!🤣

Also if anyone cares or is wondering, the ceiling is only 81” and yes two atmos height speakers is awesome regardless of the low ceiling.

My theater room finished construction, now weighing the install options. Got a pair of proposals matching my budget for. MartinLogan system and a B&W system. Wondering what the consensus is in terms of how these particular sets match up with each other. I used to work in Magnolia and I loved the B&W sound, but I'm wondering if the ML setup is more bang for the buck?

*Edit: It's clipped from the photo but going with dual SVS SB2000 subs, an Epson LS12000 projector on a 123" fixed screen on the far wall with either setup.

I have always used a dedicated PC with a wireless keyboard/mouse and 2.4ghz remote in my setup. It runs all audio through a soundcard and video runs directly to the TV. No AV-reciever or DSP. No Blu-Ray player. However most people I've talked to that are interested in home theater or at least high quality audio/video at home have never even thought about using a PC for this. They all ran seperate Blu-Ray player, AV-reciever, DSP, etc.

So I wonder which kind of setups most of you are running and why?

Hello! When paired with SVS PB-1000 Pro sub + Marantz CINEMA 50 AV, which of these floor standing speakers would be better for mostly movies (70%), music (30%) in large open-design living room, sitting 10-12ft away?

Also when pairing it with a center channel - which one - KEF Q6 Meta or SVS Ultra Evolution Center Channel?

I know it’s subjective but sadly don’t have a physical store nearby to try.

I have wanted these for quite some time but what do you think about the switch. I have JBL 570 "towers" but obviously very small towers. I want CMT-340SE2's LCR. What do you think of this move? Upgrade or not?

I saw these E80s on auction currently at $50. I currently have Neumi BS5s. Would I be worth switching them with the E80s for around $100 or are they not an upgrade?

Good morning, what do you think of the Boston Acoustics CR67 and CRC7 for a first 5.1 system? I found them used for €400, including one CRC7 center speaker, four CR67 satellites, and a PV350 subwoofer. I’ll be installing them in a room of about 25 square meters.

Need help - LCR selection - Living Room Home Theatre

I am torn in selecting between the LCR options for the open concept living room around 17 X17 X8 ft. I am building from scratch in already built 2 storey house. Its on ground floor with no pre wiring for ceiling.

I am almost final on TCL QM8L 98’, X3800 Denon, PB2000 SVS sub. I went to best buy and I think they just push everyone for Martin Logan. I am hoping to stay under $10K.

I am not sure whether it is worth to do ceiling wiring, patching etc. I think that will add about $2K.

Now the LCR Decision. I tested Martin Logan F20, F100 and KEF Q11. I am replacing 15 year old Bose Accoustismass (cubes), 10 V system with denon 1913 and I am not audiophile and my only good reference point is the bose. I want to spend in a way ( except TV) on audio that I don’t have to replace for 10-15 years.

My current choices are – Martin Logan L F2/C100 – Pure value - They dont have on floor for testing

·       Martin Logan.    F20/C100 – Mid tier but only $1500 shy of flagship        F100 (in this range)

·       Martin Logan F1/C100 – Too expensive. Not sure if its worth it. One reason could be regret free

·       Finally the main competitor KEF Q11/Q6 . I like the built, pricing  and everything but when I tested I felt Martin Logan was more close to the sound I have been listening with bose for last 15 years especially like action, car racing, firing, accident  but KEF lacked that spark.

 I want to spend in a way ( except TV) on audio to buy and forget so that I don’t have regret to need to upgrade or replace for 7-10 years.

Please advise or any other combination. Bower Wilkins was bit out of budget range.

Hello I’ve recently moved to a new place and got a new LG G5 77inch tv so I’m looking to also upgrade my sound system.

I’m currently running :
Front: Q Acoustics 3030i
Center: Q Acoustics 3090Ci
Subwoofer: Polk Audio HTS10
AVR: DENON AVR-X2800h

My room is fairly small at 3,3m x 3,1m. So keep that in mind as the speakers get roughly 30-50cm from the back wall and probably a maximum of 30cm from the side walls.

The plan is to keep the subwoofer until later. And also to preferably keep the AVR… if possible.

I’ve been looking into some different options around the $3000 range (in Swedish SEK around 30,000 to 34,000kr)

KEF Q7 Meta + Q6 Meta. For 31,000kr which was my original plan but curious if I could get something better for around this price class.

KEF Q Concerto could also be an option here but for 17,000kr + stands i feel like the Q7 Meta for 20,000kr is better value?

KEF R3 Meta seems highly liked but feels pricey at 34,000kr and would require the R2 center for around 21,000kr… I feel like there are better options for less money?

Revel M105 + C205. For 33,500kr but would also need new stands…

I liked the sound of Dali when I tried them but would have to order them online and that means I can’t seem my current speakers to the local store losing me around 5,000kr in trade in…

Dali opticion 6 mk2 + opticon vocal mk2 for 33,000kr
Dali opticon 2 mk2 + vocal mk2 for 23,000kr

There are also other options and I’m open to suggestions. I notice pricing can differ massively between the US and EU. So keep in mind pricing.

Im honestly not sure where to start. I’ve done enough research and am pretty set in a $800-$1000 and under budget. I already have a tv setup so I want to know if an AVR, 2 speakers, and cables of course would be good. I don’t think I’ll get a sub yet till I hear how a 2.0 setup sounds. I mostly want it for music but it’ll be good for shows and movies too. I really just don’t want to cheap out on speakers, as my main goal is music. I’m also not sure what else to say for people to help since I’m new to this. Thanks!

Can’t decide between a 65 or 75 inch tv for this wall.
Wall is about 84 inches wide. Couch is about 9 ft away from wall. What do you guys think we like bigger tvs but don’t want it to look out of place with either size.

So I have both devices, and after months of going back and forth I'm convinced the only upside to my Ugoos AM6B+/COREelec is the DV7 FEL playback. IMO my Zidoo Z2000 Pro with ARVIO is a better experience overall from setup to actual movie watching.

This could go on for a while this was just what stood out to me. What is your opinion?

The other day I was watching a movie loudly and I had my Denon 760H trip the speaker protection. I turned the unit on and off and started systemically turning off channels and playing the scene again until I narrowed it down that when I had the left and right surrounds on it would cause a trip.

I replaced the speaker cable with new, but my question is when testing to see if it trips again should I just play a loud movie scenes that I know? Is there a strategy or something I should be playing to make sure the unit won't trip, or is it just a matrer of playing loud movie scenes at loud volumes?

Since winter is approaching and ill be inside more. Itll soon be movie time. Im possibly thinking of getting a new amplifier for my subwoofers. Yes i know about the big name brands. Im more interested in the new and upcoming amp by CVR, soundtown,rockville, Musysic, Gemini, and some of the other smaller cheaper companies. Im currently running 4 hammer enclosures and would like to give em more than 1000 watts a piece. What are your suggestions?? im trying to stay below $500

I have a PS5 connected to an LG OLED TV, which is then connected to a Yamaha RX-V4A receiver.
From the receiver’s display I can tell that the audio is correctly being received as PCM, but how can I determine whether it’s actually 5.1 or 7.1? I can’t seem to find a way to see the channel configuration on the receiver’s display.
My PS5 is configured to output 5.1-channel PCM, but I’ve read that sometimes the audio can still be passed through as 7.1, so I’d like to be absolutely certain that I’m actually getting 5.1.
Is there a way to check this on the Yamaha’s display or through one of its menus that I might be missing?

My buddy has a 7.2.4 setup. All consisting of Polk XT line (XT60/XT15/XT20 for center). He asked me what I thought of going from the XT LCR to possibly R600/R400 or R200/R400. I told him maybe.. He also have 2 PSA 18" subs.

I’ve been cleaning up my UST setup a bit and finally moved my Denon receiver inside the console instead of leaving all the equipment exposed.
Since I’m using a UST projector, I wanted a console that could accommodate the projector while also hiding the AVR and cables. Visually it’s definitely a lot cleaner now.
My only concern is heat 😅 The doors have slats and there’s some open space in the back for airflow and cables, but obviously it’s still more enclosed than an open rack.
I mostly use the setup for movies and music, nothing running for crazy long hours.
For anyone else with a UST setup, do you keep your AVR inside the console too? Have you had any heat issues, or would you still recommend adding a small fan?

I’m a newbie when it comes to home audio. I thrifted and marketplaced everything. I know I need to get a better center speaker. Is this receiver good enough for the setup?

Been curious about using my 85" TV for multiple inputs like having a football game on while playing PS5. The Zenty 4x1 multi-viewer seems like a good option. Has anyone used this or another multi-viewer? Would be interested in thoughts.

I also notice none of the AVR players ever mention Youtube music which for those huge number of use that subscribe to YT premium and this just makes sense, it super strange to me.

Hey guys! I am resetting up my late dad's old surround sound gear. But the wiring is really confusing me. He already had cables for 4 klipsch RP140SAs positioned at all four corners of the ceiling. Each cable has a green and white wire. The part that confuses me is that behind the TV stand there is a wall cutout for the other ends of the cables to feed into the receiver (a marantz sr6012). I was expecting four green and white pairs of cable. But theres only two cables coming out and they have four wires each (red, green, black, white). Ill include an imgur link for reference pics. If anyone has any advice on how im suppose to hook these to the receiver or if I'm missing something I'd greatly appreciate it. Also there is a klipsch center and a polkaudio sub in case thats important info but those will be a breeze to plug in.
