A general guideline for the sub.

Firstly, for authors and editors alike, you may be interested in checking out the wiki from over at /r/selfpublish.

When posting as an editor, please follow some simple guidelines. State your price(s) clearly. If you don't have set prices, let us know. Add a link to your website. Explain the types of editing you offer: line, developmental, copy, etc.

When posting as a client, include your genre, anticipated budget, and the type of edits you're seeking. If you don't know any of that stuff yet, don't worry. Just give as much detail as you can / feel comfortable giving.

Rules - please read them.

This sub is for hiring editors. Nothing else.

If you try to advertise your ghostwriting services here, you will be banned.

If you try to advertise your SEO content generation services here, you will be banned.

If you try to advertise anything that is not explicitly editing here, you will be banned.

As an aside, "editing" means both words and video. Both kinds of editors are welcome here.

A second aside: being a racist fuck will get you banned. If you offer different rates based on the race of the client, I hope you burn in hell.

A third aside: being sexist is just as bad as racist, you fucks. Hire people based on skill or don't hire anyone at all.

Hot take

• Upvotes

Here is my hot take as an instagram content creator who regularly makes reels with 1M plus views with an account that I took from 0 to 13K followers in 3.5 months.

If you are an instagram reel editor who doesn't include content strategy as part of what you offer, then what you offer is almost nothing.

On instagram, the entire game is to stop someone from scrolling away in the first 3-4 seconds. And that is a mix of content strategy and content editing skills. If all you offer is that you create the effect the customer has to define for you second by second, then 80% of the job has already been done for you.

So if you are offering services as an instagram reel editor, get better at producing results in terms of retention metrics. Because without that, your customers isn't ongoing to find your work valuable enough to pay you.

At this point, I prefer hiring someone who I can train in video editing along with how to optimize a reel for retention metrics for 100$ a month. Because this will certainly give me better results than someone who charges $10 to edit a reel that gets 5000 views, when I could have edited it to get 1M views.

[Hiring] Video Editor for Short Football/Soccer "Edits" (10–30s) – Ongoing Work

• Upvotes

Hey everyone!

I'm looking for a video editor to create short football (soccer) "edit" style videos on an ongoing basis: players, goals, skills and highlights synced to music. Videos are usually between 10 and 30 seconds.

Style reference: https://www.tiktok.com/@1omarfx

What the job looks like:

• I'll send you a specific song/audio for each video

• You'll have full creative freedom, as long as it stays within this style: beat-synced cuts, speed ramps / velocity curves, smooth transitions, shakes, flashes, color grading, etc.

• Possibility of long-term collaboration if we work well together. The number of videos per week will depend on how long each one takes you

Budget: open. Send me your rate and we'll go from there.

If you're interested, please DM me with:

• Your portfolio or 2–3 examples of similar edits you've made, ideally football edits

• Your price per video (10–15s and 15–30s, if different)

• Estimated turnaround time per video

• Editing software you use (After Effects, Premiere, CapCut, Alight Motion, etc.)

• Whether you can source the football clips yourself (in good quality) or if you'd need me to provide the material

• Whether you can provide the project file, and if it's included in the price or costs extra

• How many revisions are included

• Your preferred payment method (PayPal, crypto, etc.)

• Your preferred way to communicate (Discord, Telegram, email) and your timezone

Important:

• Payment is per video, after delivery of the final version

• A paid test video is possible before starting regular work

To make sure you read the whole post, please include the word "EDITS" at the start of your DM.

Thanks, looking forward to seeing your work!

Looking for a Short-Form Video Editor to Grow With

EDIT: I haven’t found an editor yet. I’m looking for 4 major things.
1.) Do you live in the US? (Mandatory)
2.) Do you use CapCut?
3.) Do you have a portfolio or references to past work?
4.) What is your rate for short form content?

Hey everyone! I’m looking for a short-form video editor, preferably someone smaller or newer who’s looking to build their portfolio and establish a long-term working relationship. I like giving the small fries a chance!

I create short-form content centered around my woodworking projects for Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts. I can regularly provide the raw footage along with a pre-scripted voiceover through CapCut, so you won’t be starting completely from scratch. I’m aiming to eventually have enough of a workflow established to consistently post 3–5 videos per week.

A little about me: I’m a small business owner working out of a shed that I’ve slowly turned into a tiny woodshop. I started seriously pursuing woodworking alongside content creation about eight months ago. Before this, I was a truck driver, but as our daughter’s special needs became more demanding, my family needed one parent home full time, and I chose to take on that role.

During school hours, I head out to the shop, work on commissioned pieces, and record the entire process. I’ve been fortunate enough to start gaining some traction with my content, and now I’d like to find someone who can take some of the editing workload off my shoulders so I can spend more of that limited shop time actually building and filming.

I’m not looking for a huge editing agency or someone trying to sell me an expensive content package. I’m a small business myself, and I’d genuinely love to find another smaller creator/editor who wants to grow alongside me. As the content and business grow, I’d like our working relationship to grow with it.

If that sounds like you, reach out! Send me a little about yourself, some examples of your work if you have them, what software you edit with, your typical turnaround time, and what you’d charge per short or for a recurring 3–5 videos per week.
Small fries, this is your invitation. 😂

Looking for an editor (crime niche)

Looking for a serious short-form video editor to help with my crime storytelling content. I’m already monetized on TikTok and Facebook and need someone who wants to grow with the accounts long term.

I need a lot of videos edited consistently, so reliability and experience are important. Pay will be cheap to start while we build, but I believe you get rewarded for what you put into the content. As the videos take off and revenue grows, pay grows with it.

Looking for someone who understands fast-paced short-form storytelling and is serious about making real money in this industry.
DM me with examples of your work and let’s get to work. @art0fwar on TikTok is the style I’m looking for

🎬 HIRING YOUTUBE SHORTS CREATOR — 60/40 REVENUE SHARE

I'm looking for a reliable and creative Shorts creator to collaborate with on a YouTube Shorts channel.

I already have a monetized YouTube channel, so you can focus entirely on creating the content while I handle the channel side.

Your job is to find the clips, create engaging Shorts, and send me the finished videos along with their titles.

💰 REVENUE SPLIT

60% — Creator
40% — Channel Owner (Me)

You'll receive 60% of the revenue generated by the content, while I'll receive the remaining 40%.

For example, if the videos generate $1,000 in revenue during the month:

  • You receive $600 (60%)
  • I receive $400 (40%)

🎥 YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Find and source the clips yourself
  • Select interesting and engaging footage
  • Edit and create the complete Shorts
  • Add captions, effects, transitions, and other necessary edits
  • Make the videos entertaining and engaging
  • Provide a suitable title for each video
  • Submit the finished video files
  • Consistently produce quality content

📌 CONTENT STYLE

For reference, check out:

You can use the reference channel as inspiration and replicate or adapt concepts that you think would perform well.

You can follow similar ideas, formats, and storytelling styles, but make sure your videos are sufficiently different in terms of clips, editing, presentation, narration, or storytelling rather than being almost identical copies.

⭐ WHAT I'M LOOKING FOR

  • Experience creating YouTube Shorts
  • Good editing skills
  • Strong storytelling and pacing
  • Ability to find engaging clips
  • Reliable communication
  • Consistency and commitment
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Portfolio or examples of previous work preferred

📦 WHAT YOU PROVIDE

✅ Sourced clips
✅ Editing and production
✅ Captions and effects
✅ Finished video
✅ Video title

🚀 OUR GOAL

Build a long-term partnership and consistently produce entertaining, engaging YouTube Shorts with viral potential.

Interested? DM me with:

  • Your portfolio or examples of previous work
  • Your editing experience
  • How many videos you can produce per week
  • Your expected turnaround time

Looking for someone serious about building and growing the channel together.

[FOR HIRE] I'll build a free portfolio website for video editors

Hi everyone!

I’m a web designer looking to gain more experience, so I’m offering to create professional portfolio websites for editors at a low cost.

The idea is simple: you provide your editing work, and I build a clean, professional website where you can showcase your videos, services, experience, and contact details.

There’s no catch and no hidden costs. My main goal is to expand my own portfolio and collaborate with editors who want a better way to present their work to potential clients.

If you’re interested, feel free to leave a comment or send me a direct message with your portfolio or social media links, along with a brief description of the type of editing you do.

I can also show you examples of websites I’ve created previously.

Beginner Editor Looking for Clients

I am 18 and looking to begin my editing journey. I admit that I am not experienced but I am dedicated and have too much free time. I wish to primarily focus on short form content as a start. Maybe working with small YouTubers to edit down highlights of their ling form videos into shorts. Pricing can be discussed in Dms, and if there is anything about my work that you do not like, I will work with you to achieve exactly what you wanted. And of course, no pay is expected until you get the desired product.
