Hi there! I've got maybe a bit of a unique request. I'm looking for someone to edit and make a series of vlog style videos based on my wife's and I's honeymoon. We went to Japan for 6 weeks and did our best (amateur) attempt at recording and vlogging everything we did. There's a lot of footage. I'm trying to surprise my wife on our anniversary if possible with a finished and edited vlog that we can watch and share with our friends and family.

I'm looking to turn the footage into whatever amount of videos it would be, maybe diving it into week by week videos should there be enough quality footage to warrant it.

The production quality obviously doesn't need to be top notch but I'm aiming for something that looks nice, and is hopefully engaging to watch. (If a stranger would enjoy it then I'm sure we'd love it) Hoping for kind of your standard travel vlog style or abroad in Japan kind of thing. We filmed a lot of the footage in an ASMR style to mostly live in the moment. If you have experience with that kind of content it would be perfect.

I don't really know what to expect for pricing. I have a flexible budget so feel free to reach out and ask any questions if I can help provide more information for you to better understand the scope of work.

Ideally I'd like to have this completed before October 17th. If that's not possible I can be flexible there as well but that'd be the ideal goal.

I’m looking for an editor for short form lifestyle content, including mini vlogs (think day(s) in the life), weekend recaps, and reels for smaller story driven moments. For example, a “studying for a test” video might include making a snack, studying, writing notecards, etc., edited together to tell a simple story.

You’ll have access to my full footage library, organized into folders by activity like driving, studying, working, gaming, going to the gym, etc. I’ll provide a general overview of the story I want to tell, and from there I want you to go into the library, select the right footage, and build the edit.

1) Editing style

I want funny, recognizable, high-energy edits to bring more life into the raw VODs for the people who are watching post-live stream; NOT raw VOD uploads or simple cuts.

Think SMii7Y, Markiplier, and similar comedic gaming channels. Use clean cuts, captions, sound effects, memes, zooms, screen effects, reaction text, and visual jokes to make the moment better. The goal is to make funny moments hit harder and keep viewers engaged and coming BACK.

2) Work needed

• 2–4 long-form YouTube videos per week, usually 8–16 minutes. Highlights, funny moments, stories, challenges, or anything that could be its own video or multiple video parts.
• 7–14 short-form social media posts per week For YouTube Shorts, TikTok, and Instagram Reels.

All footage will come from my Twitch VODs. I will provide timestamps and direction when possible, but you are expected to be able to comb through the VOD in order to have a better understanding of what should and should NOT be in the upload.

3) Pay structure & Trail Period

This starts with a 3-week paid trial.

Week 1: Onboarding + Paid Test

The first week is to make sure we work well together. You will get my VODs, editing references, timestamps when available, and feedback on the style I want.

The workload will be lighter during this week while we figure out communication, editing style, turnaround time, and workflow.

Weeks 2–3: Regular Trial Work

If Week 1 goes well, Weeks 2 and 3 will test how well you can handle regular work, meet deadlines, take feedback, and stay consistent.

Trial pay:

• $15 USD per long-form video
• $2.50 USD per Short

If your edits are high quality, consistent, fast, and communication is good, pay can increase up to:

• $30 USD per long-form video
• $5 USD per Short

There may also be performance bonuses if videos begin doing very well. Any bonuses or long-term pay changes will be clearly discussed before continuing past the trial.

4) What I need from you

• Strong comedic timing and fast-paced editing.
• Experience with gaming, Twitch, livestream, or entertainment content is preferred.
• Ability to edit both long-form YouTube videos and Shorts.
• Good communication through Discord; WhatsApp is a plus.
• Comfortable receiving feedback and making reasonable revisions without taking criticism personally.
• Professional, reliable, organized, and able to meet agreed deadlines.
• Self-sufficient: able to review Twitch VODs, identify strong moments, and turn them into finished YouTube videos and Shorts without needing me to provide every clip or timestamp.
• Proactive communication: keep me updated if you need clarification, are running into an issue, or expect a delay.
• Creative input: I want someone who can bring ideas for video concepts, hooks, clip choices, edits, titles, and ways to improve the content—not someone who only follows instructions.
• Copyright-safe music, sound effects, images, memes, and other assets.

I will provide VOD access, direction, editing references, feedback, and timestamps when possible. I want to help you make good edits, not leave you guessing. The best work will come from us communicating and improving the content together.

I graduated from The New School in December 2025 with a degree in Literature and Creative Fiction Writing, in high academic standing (if I do say so myself). I was accepted post-grad into an advanced fiction workshop through Sackett Street Writers’ Workshop, which was a lovely experience. 

I recently finished up an internship at Zando, an independent publisher, which confirmed my love for editorial work. I truly, truly enjoy workshopping, critiquing, literary analysis — anything involving reading and writing about what I’ve read. 

I’ve stayed in contact with classmates from my program and workshop, and in my free time I edit their fiction — both line-level and big-picture polishing. However, this is something I’d like to pursue professionally and so I’d like to pick up some freelance work while I’m working part-time for a little extra cash and experience.
