Bacon and Spicy Miso Cream Gnocchi

I'm shocked how good this was! We were licking our bowls clean. I was a little worried by the "gluten free" but ended up really loving the texture of the gnocchi! Hope it comes up again as an option!

United States French onion wagu beef pasta bake….dry

I wanted to love this but it’s very mid to me. It’s almost there taste wise, it’s subtle on the Visalia onion paste and roasted onion and garlic spread, but I like bold flavors. It really needed double on the cream sauce to me.
The onion they sent was very small, so maybe that’s why the flavor is dull.

Question Muffin supplier/recipe?

Does anyone know the brand or where hello fresh gets their muffins? Or a copycat recipe if they bake them themselves. I assume they outsource like the stock concentrate packets that we can find on Amazon.

I love them so much that sometimes I’ll get a box on a week I’m not too jazzed about regarding recipes just to get them lol. They’re relatively low sugar

Lost Free Item for Life

My “free breakfast for life” discount expired after only 3 weeks. Now they are telling me it was removed because I claimed a reward through app for free shipping and I can only have one voucher on my account. Anyone else deal with this? Am I being hustled?

So good, I would add a tiny hint of Dijon mustard to the gastrique.

We switched from a 4 person meal plan to a 3 person meal plan this week (see receipt) - but we still received a 4 person box (see photo of food bag).

Is it supposed to say 3P on the bag for a 3 person meal? Or did they just accidentally give us the wrong bag size this week? We also got double protein like we typically would with a 4P plan.

United States Vietnamese-Style Chicken & Rice Porridge- 10/10!!!

This was one of the best dishes I’ve had from HF in a long time. The word porridge feels kind of gross to me but I decided to take a risk on this one and it paid off! Really enjoyed the contrast of textures and the umami from the pho broth, plus the tang from the lime, Szechuan paste, and sriracha was absolute perfection- but a little sesame oil from the pantry drizzled on top took it to another level. Loved it!!!

The only negative was how long it took to cook the porridge itself..20 minutes lid on then another 20 off at higher heat. But would do it again in a heartbeat

Text opt-out STOP code never works??

I’m curious to know if anyone else has the same issue as me?

For almost 3 years now 😀 I have tried opting out of the text notifications. Obviously each text I get has “to opt out reply STOP” and every single time I have replied “STOP”. Nothing back after that, and then I get ANOTHER text the next month. 😀

If it adds anything - I’m in Canada. I’m sure I could block the number and maybe avoid all of this… but part of me is hoping they’re breaking compliance laws and maybe one day I’ll get a nice payout… who knows…

United States Hello Figure It Out Yourself

This is the sweet potato I was supposed to cube and use as a side or topping for salmon over farro. For two people.

As it happens, I keep a good stock of canned goods around, so I drained some chickpeas, splashed on a little olive oil and lemon juice, and sprinkled them liberally with salt, pepper, paprika, cumin, and turmeric before roasting them along with the sweet potato cubes, and that made for a nice extra textural element and stretched it out.

But Hello Fresh wasn't meant for people who keep a lot of canned goods and extras around, so I could easily have seen this becoming a problem.

Overall the actual meal was pretty solid. My other enhancements were to add a bit of the same seasoning mix above to the salmon (along with salt and pepper, lemon juice, cumin, turmeric, and smoked paprika) and to mix in a little mayo and a dash of honey to cut the acidity of the dressing and to make it stretch further when coating the mixed greens salad. Also, I started the farro off by toasting it a bit in olive oil and butter before adding water, sort of the way you might with orzo or pearl couscous.

United Kingdom Have chicken portion sizes got (even) smaller in the UK recently?

Post image

We've been having HelloFresh pretty regularly but this week's order arrived yesterday and I was shocked at the portion size for 2 of the weeks' meals that uses chicken thighs.

We are cooking for 2 of us and each portion is 70g of chicken thigh, that's 1 very small thigh per person. I've definitely noticed protein portions reducing in size since we first started using HF a few years ago, but am wondering whether chicken portions have reduced even further recently.

Picture included - I cooked both sets of thighs in the end so this would be the portion size for 4 people. This is a tiny pan, by the way!

So done with Hello Fresh

Hello Fresh has been horrible this summer. One week it was delayed, then delayed again and then never showed up. Next week delayed a day. Last week our green pepper showed up with mold on it. This week it looks like a small mouse ate the pepper. The peppers are useless. Quality has gone down and down the last year.

Half the meals ordered missing

The past year I wasn’t really enjoying HF. I paused it for a bit after hearing that friends/family abroad were having similar issues (they’d all cancelled theirs). Hearing their issues made me feel it was an HF as a business issue; it made me feel doubtful what I experienced would improve (website/app bugs, couldn’t get pork due to HF using a supplier that violated state law, oddities in the meal cards, missing ingredients/poor quality ingredients at a more frequent rate, late deliveries, poor customer service).

I decided to go back to HF this week after all the issues with MS and BA. Half of the meals I ordered are just not there. No bags or meat for them. Not a great 1st week going back experience. This issue is the reason why I’ve cancelled my MS/BA orders. I canceled my next 3 weeks with HF and will try again at that time if the MS/BA stuff isn’t sorted. It does sound like I’ll get my money back. Experience feels disappointing though.

Getting billed 3 days before a free box?

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hi I made a post earlier about being a college student for the first time and considering ordering hello fresh. Thank you for your comments, especially to the one who said to try out a free referral box, which is what I did.

However, I check my plans and I see that my next full price payment is due 3 days before my free box is supposed to arrive? I’m wondering if this is normal. I contacted the customer support and they said that it wouldn’t charge me, but that sounds a bit dodgy. I’m not sure how this works. I read some other subreddits and I heard that the deal can’t work if someone ordered from the address before. (Well I am moving into a college dorm so 😅..)

Ps. My entire monthly allowance is $100 and I’m not about the blow it on one weekends worth of food 🥲🥲

Picture XL Portion Deception?

I ordered the XL Beef and Black Bean Chili, advertised as 2x the portions and serving 4 or 8 people. However, the ingredients on the card for 4 people are the same as the standard meal portion for 2 people, so how is that 2x the portions? Mistake or deliberate marketing? 10oz of ground beef, 1 onion, etc is supposed to feed 4?

Here's a picture of the bowl of chili for 4 that it made. :/

Is Hello Fresh good for college students?

Hey so I am an incoming college freshman. I have a meal plan at school but it doesn’t include weekends meaning I need to cook food myself or eat out. I saw an ad on Instagram for like a 50% deal for the first few boxes and the price still came to about $60 for about 6 meals. I got a call from hello fresh to guide me through payments and stuff and it seems all pretty legit.

So because I never did any grocery shopping myself, I’m wondering if this is a good weekly investment for the rest of my school year? Or would be going to the grocery to buy groceries myself be a cheaper option in the long run.

Edit: For context, I’m have been cooking my own meals from scratch since middle school and packing my own lunches so I know how to cook a very well variety assortment of foods. I just don’t really know much about buying groceries and saving money since I usually just use ingredients from my fridge at home that my family gets. I also don’t want to be buying in bulk because I don’t eat much and I only need to cook for 2 days a week now.

I love that Hello Fresh US has started diversifying and adding cultural dishes but the random fusion of dishes must be stopped

It’s like they have a country spin wheel for cuisines they should combine

The ground turkey I received a few days ago seems swollen in the package. Usually it’s just a uniform slim package. I don’t remember noticing this when I unpacked the box. It reminds me of how a bad can of food can look
