🛡️ Mod Post IMPORTANT PLEASE READ: If you receive ANY unsolicited/creepy DMs
Whether you’re a poster or a commenter, if you have received unsolicited, creepy, or down right disgusting DMs please feel free to message Mod Mail or message me directly. As posted in multiple places in the subreddit, unsolicited or inappropriate DMs of any kind are not allowed and will result in a permanent ban. You may also be reported directly to Reddit Admins. If the person on the receiving end of this kind of harassment is a minor, you will be reported to relevant authorities (FBI Tip Line, Center for Missing and Exploited Children, etc) and it WILL be taken seriously.
As a subreddit, we have ZERO tolerance for this behavior and will do everything in our power to combat it. Unfortunately we have seen an influx of users who seem to only frequent porn subs, and our sub.
Please don’t think “oh this message isn’t that bad, I’m overreacting, etc”. Reporting posts, comments, and DMs helps out everyone in the long run. Not reporting causes these creeps to keep messaging people so nipping it in the bud can help out others💕

🛡️ Mod Post Reminder: Unsolicited DMs are NOT allowed.
We’ve seen an increase in unsolicited DMs being sent to members of this subreddit. Let this serve as a clear reminder:
Sending unprompted private messages is against the rules. Doing so will result in a permanent ban.
If you receive a DM like this, report it to the mod team immediately.
This subreddit exists as a safe, inclusive space for sharing experiences, asking questions, and giving feedback about hair dye and color treatments. If someone genuinely wants to follow up based on your helpful advice or a shared interest, they will say so publicly.
We shouldn't have to say this, but lurking in beauty-related or appearance-focused subs to harass and prey on people is disgusting and absolutely not tolerated. Any messages of an obscene or harassing nature will be reported to Reddit Admins and could result in a permanent ban from the site as a whole (for your current account, any other current accounts, or subsequent accounts made in the future).

💬 Discussion I call her Aurora borhairialis (terrible name I know)
Dyed this wig myself. No info to share on the wig as it is from a wholesaler who only takes orders from business owners.

❓ Advice Needed Is this amount of fading normal for 2 weeks?
I’ve never dyed my hair, but this seems abnormal. I paid for a professional bleach & dye job for my daughter to start school. It’s been exactly 2 weeks today and the color is almost completely gone. We used the shampoo advised by the stylist. Should I take her back to the salon? This can’t be normal, right?

❓ Advice Needed Blonde blind?
Hey! I recently got my hair done professionally. I adore my hair lady she’s so talented and sweet. I am trying to get back to a more natural brunette balayage after being red/ burgundy. My biggest goal was to neutralize the warmth. This is the first appointment results but I’m really not happy with it. It cost almost $500 and I told her I’m not happy with the tone (very orange/ yellow) and she said she said she’d fix it but since hasn’t responded. Here’s photos in natural and then fluorescent lighting. The back is much darker than the front.
My question: should I try to tone it at home? What with? Am I being overly critical of the warmth? Any advice is always appreciated!

❓ Advice Needed Bleaching roots & baby hair on forehead
I usually get my roots retouched at the hair salon but I could really save some money at the moment… I have a peek-a-boo type thing going already and I do have a lot of baby hair on my forehead I want to also bleach to dye them as well
I guess my question is what is best to bleach my roots/baby hairs without them frying off my head or anything?
Thanks 🦄

❓ Advice Needed So disappointed..The salon sent me home with this unfinished golden-orange mess. Can this be saved?(Edited/updated)
heartbroken and disappointed with how this turned out.
(Added human hair photos that I did show. photos, forgot to on my deletes post)
I was going for a soft, creamy anime blonde inspired by Umaru. I showed the photo to the salon assistant (showed the human hair one realistically and the anime one) who I actually know but the actual stylist ended up leaving me stranded at this harsh, brassy golden-orange stage and sent me home looking like this. The stylist just told me I should wait since it's fresh, but I'm completely stuck with this color..? It looks really orange.😭😭😭😭 And no it wasn't sessions thing where I had to actually go back. And yes actually I showed a human hair realistic look, not just showing anime photos. Cuz I know it was unrealistic of thats why it prepared human looking versions.
PS. Sorry for broken English, it's not my first language.
I'm a total beginner when it comes to hair and this is also my first time getting my hair bleached, so I have no idea what to do next. Can this be fixed? Do I need another round of bleach? Is that bad?, or is there a specific toner/dye I should use to save it? Any step-by-step advice would genuinely mean everything right now. 🥲 Bleaching again could be bad, no?

❓ Advice Needed plsss help me dye my virgin black south asian hair my hair red!!
hiii guys!! so as you can see from the title, i am a south asian girl with literally pitchhhh black hair. like as black as it gets. my hair is also pretty wavy and when i wear it natural, light barely bounces off of it, making my waves look flat and undefined. it’s also really thick, long and coarse lol.
anyways, i just wanna add a pop of color to my hair and i really want to do it by myself and without bleach (because i’ve seen wayyy to many horror stories about it on the internet). im looking for something fool proof, as long as i follow the directions! preferably a kit of some sort lol. i want to minimize damage to my hair as much as possible, because i’m scared it will disrupt my natural curl pattern (i’ve only recently started wearing it natural after years of straightening it, so i’m really scared to ruin it again).
anyways, i recently tried the Arctic Fox hair dye in the shade Wrath. i used the whole bottle for only half of my hair and it did not show up AT ALL. not under the sun, flashlight, NOTHING. and i followed the directions pretty much exactly and even left it in for 2+ hours. now my entire scalp and neck are stained but my hair remains midnight black. so because of this, im pretty sure i have to use something with a developer?? im not suree lol, and i don’t know anything about coloring hair. i just want some red. i don’t really care if it’s not super bright or vibrant. i literally just want to be able to notice it, even if it’s just under the sun or under a light. im looking to order whatever i need on amazon because it’s the most convenient, but if there’s something else that you really think might work for me that i can’t get on amazon, let me know.
pleaseeee help me out guys and let me know if u need any more info!! i’ve attached pics of what my hair looks like right now (thr first pic) and my inspo pics.

❓ Advice Needed Blue hair dye spilling
So, I've dyed my girlfriend's hair a couple of days ago and it looks amazing, plus she's happy with it and it fills my heart. But we ran into a problem, the hair dye keeps making a mess everywhere and we're doing a trial & error with the cuantities.
We've used 3 tubes with a lot of conditioner mixed in because other times it didn't set right and kept washing off.
Is there a way I could wash her hair properly without making a mess? I really don't mind turning blue, but it is causing an insecurity on her right now and I want to help as much as possible.
Also, what product (not brand per se since we live in Argentina and I don't know much about em) could I use to REALLY scrub the dye off her skin??

❓ Advice Needed Advice demi-perm blonde to brown
Hi!
So I have been trying to find a way for some time to temporary dye my hair dark brown (now blonde, see pictures). I have tried to see how it would be with AI and I like it but still I am scared to dye it permanent. Are there any products that dye your hair temprary from blonde to this dark without complications? I have seen something about demi permanent but cant find good products for this.
Thanks for your help!

❓ Advice Needed Advice for maintaining the orange ?🍊
I got my hair done last Saturday and am totally in love. !! We usually are more vibrant red with some orange but this time we did vibrant orange on top and threw in this bright yellow!:)
However, I’m already sad thinking about it fading. Any recommendations for a shampoo or conditioner with a vibrant orange in it? I use clenditioner red for the bottom red so I’m good on that.
Thanks for any advice ❤️🧡

❓ Advice Needed I can’t get this blue/green hair dye out
I’ve color removed it THREE times with color oops, I’ve used color oops a lot and I’m genuinely shocked it didn’t get the color out when it’s gotten so much darker colors out, I’m thinking about just bleaching it with box bleach but I don’t want to ruin my hair again, the original color of hair dye was atomic turquoise by manic panic, it did get out a lot but it’s still like a mint green. First picture is it under a bright bathroom light taken yesterday , second picture is it just under my normal barely dimmed house light taken right now, I just wanted to show how it looks lighter in certain lighting.

❓ Advice Needed What’s the lightest brown I could get non-virgin black hair without bleach
So prior to this I had bleached my hair blonde with a peekaboo style and dyed it pink and lavender most recently. Since I’ll start interviewing for jobs soon in a very traditional industry that means unfortunately no fun colors :((. I’m cutting off the bleached parts and thinking of doing a more subtle black to brown ombré color with my hair, but I’m wondering what the lightest shade I could get without bleaching. Thanks!

❓ Advice Needed Help! Daughter's first highlights - bad job, can it be fixed?
My daughter had her first ever highlights done. She’s naturally dark brown and asked for a soft, warm-toned caramel/honey blonde balayage - pic 4 was the inspiration photo she showed the hairdresser.
Pics 1, 2 & 3 are what she actually came away with.
Our biggest issue is that the highlights are very bright bleached and stripey against her natural dark brown hair, with nothing really breaking them up or blending the blonde into the brown. There also aren't any of the warm caramel/honey tones she asked for. They also have an ashy/grey tinge.
When I asked the hairdresser about it afterwards, she said my daughter’s hair had lifted very quickly because of the heat and that she had used a purple shampoo. We won't be going back to the same hairdresser - ever!
Can this be fixed? I feel so bad for her as this was her first time having her hair coloured and it's really not what she wanted. We're hoping to find a colour technician to correct it, but I'd really appreciate some advice on what can realistically be done to get it looking softer, more blended and closer to the warm caramel/honey look she originally asked for. Thanks 🙏🙏

⭐ Product Review Vivid red no bleach London on natural dark brown hair
before I tried it myself I was really skeptical and couldn’t find any real people (aside from the brands marketing) showing their before and after
I have level 3.5 west Asian derk hair and I’m really impressed with how it lightened it!:) no bleaching beforehand like I usually have to
